Coal gasification process, comprising the steps of: a) passing a first gas stream equipped with oxygen to a first compressor for compression therein; b) passing that first compressed stream to a combustión chamber. C) passing a second fuel stream to said combustión chamber; d) burning said fuel with a portion of the oxygen contained in the first mentioned stream in the combustión chamber thus raising the temperature of said remaining portion of the oxygen contained in the first stream; e) passing said oxygen at elevated temperature to a gasifier; f) introducing a carbon feed into the gasifier, and g) reacting this carbon feed with said oxygen in the gasifier to produce a gas.
