Abstract
Un procedimiento mejorado para la eliminación de la demanda biológica de oxígeno de agua residual en una zona de aireación cubierta y digestión de lodo activado con gas con oxígeno, incluyendo las etapas de: (a) introducir un primer gas que comprende por lo menos 40% de oxígeno (en volumen) y mezclarlo como gas de aireación con el agua residual y lodo recirculado; (b) devolver a la zona de aireación como dicho lodo recirculado por lo menos aproximadamente el 85% en peso del lodo activado; (c) proporcionar un segundo gas que comprende por lo menos 80% de oxígeno (en volumen) y que incluye parte de dicho primer gas; (d) introducir dicho segundo gas y el lodo activado sin devolver procedente de la etapa (b) en una zona de digestión cubierta y mezclarlos; (e) mantener el lodo en la zona de digestión durante la etapa (d) a una temperatura comprendida entre 35º y 75ºC; (f) descargar separadamente de dicha zona de digestión lodo estabilizado parcialmente y gas de digestión agotado en oxígeno, (g)proporcionar dicho gas de digestión agotado parcialmente en oxígeno procedente de la etapa (f) como la mayor parte, por lo menos, de dicho primer gas introducido en dicha zona de aireación cubierta, en la etapa (a).
