Abstract
Un procedimiento para etilar tolueno o etilbenceno, que comprende poner en contacto el mismo, en condiciones de conversión, con un agente de etilación en presencia de un catalizador que comprende una zeolita de aluminosilicato cristalino, caracterizándose dicha zeolita por una actividad, en términos del valor alfa, entre 2 y 5000, una capacidad de porción de xileno mayor de 1 g/100 g de zeolita y un tiempo de porción de orto-xileno para 30% de dicha capacidad mayor de 10 minutos, midiéndose dicha capacidad de porción y dicho tiempo de porción a 120ºC y una presión de xileno de 4,5 más menos 0,8 mm de mercurio, teniendo dicha zeolita de aluminosilicato cristalino una relación de sílice a alúmina de al menos 12 y un índice de restricción dentro del intervalo aproximado de 1 a 12.
