Abstract
The battery charging circuit, for motor vehicles, contains a generator whose phase winding is coupled to a rectifier. A voltage regulator controls the current in the excitation winding. A lamp indicates the state of charging. A switch (22) short circuits the generator's excitation winding (12) if the generator's output voltage exceeds a given maximum value for longer than a given max. time. The switch also switches on an indicator lamp (21) when the generator's output voltage drops below a given min. level for a given max. time. The switch comprises a thermo-relay coupled to the battery.
