Abstract

An electrical connector 22 comprises two housing halves 24, 241 of electrically insulating material between which are sandwiched a strip of metal receptacle members 28 and a bus-bar 30, transverse portions 68 of the bus-bar cooperating with respective portions 56 of the receptacle member strip to form sockets to resiliently grip pin portions 60 of inserted plug contacts 36. Portions 46 and 461 of the receptacle members are provided with lances to engage shoulders 50 of male plug contacts to retain them in the receptacle members. Each receptacle member is received in a respective passage 38. Seals 32 in apertures 54 preferably seal the apertures whether a wire passes through them or not and are retained in the housing by flanges (not shown) which co-operate with the housing. The bus-bar and receptacle strip may be joined together by tabs on the bus-bar engaging recesses in the receptacle strip (Fig. 6, not shown). Separate groups of interconnected wires may be formed by separating the bus-bar and receptacle strip correspondingly longitudinally as shown.
