Abstract
A method of manufacturing a fluidized selfsetting sandmix comprises mixing together sand, water glass as a binding agent, metallurgical slag as a setting agent, water, and a foaming agent of the formula wherein R is alkyl or alkenyl n is an integer from 1 to 5 and M is an inorganic or organic cation. A preferred foaming agent is the sodium salt of a dibutyl naphthylsulphonic acid. The metallurgical slag may contain bicalcium silicate. The foaming agent is preferably added to the sandmix in an amount 0À05-0À10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of quartz sand.
