Abstract

The electrical in-line connector has a bush or socket element (1) that has two rows of channels (4) that receive electrical contacts (5). The front end of the socket receives a plug (2) that has mating contacts (40). Each of the contact elements in the socket have a formed pin (9) and the end section is formed as a pressing (7) that is crimpled around the connecting wire (8). A locking element (20) locates around the contact sections and retains the contacts against axial load. The plug contacts are also produced as pressings (40) with pairs of spring tips that engage the pins. Located in the end section of the plug body is a moulded insert that provides latching (50) for the contact elements.
