Abstract
Procedure for reversible inactivation by heat, and in vivo, of proteins with biological activity. The procedure would allow a protein to which new amino acids are added, may temporarily lose its biological activity: enzymatic, regulatory, or any other type of function it possesses. The added amino acids come from HSPs (Heat Shock Proteins). Inactivation occurs after a brief heat treatment (thermal shock), after which the activity of the modified protein is recovered with a certain delay (between 3 and 24 hours after treatment). This tool could be used, for example, for the design of new inducible gene expression systems in transgenic plants.
