Definitions
- the present invention relates to a pasta packaging machine with rotated reel assembly.
- Machines for packaging pasta or another food product are now spread world-wide, the machines comprising means adapted to perform both the step of forming the bag from flat plastic film and the step of filling the bag after the formation thereof.
- Said packaging machines generally comprise a reel assembly adapted to feed flat plastic film from the bottom upwards to enter into a forming tube.
- the packaging machine normally has a parallelepiped volume, with a containment frame having side walls which are parallel two-by-two, in particular two long side walls (longitudinal direction) and two short side walls (transverse direction).
- the reel assembly is usually positioned outside at an end of a long side wall so as to cause the plastic film to directly enter into the forming tube from the top.
- the reel assembly disadvantageously increases the volume in the direction of the short (transverse) side wall, thus reducing the space between packaging machines placed side-by-side. Indeed, several packaging machines placed side-by-side are usually provided in a warehouse, often with the long side walls not distant enough.

Description
- As disclosed in
EP-3339194 , the reel assembly is usually positioned outside at an end of a long side wall so as to cause the plastic film to directly enter into the forming tube from the top. - The reel assembly disadvantageously increases the volume in the direction of the short (transverse) side wall, thus reducing the space between packaging machines placed side-by-side. Indeed, several packaging machines placed side-by-side are usually provided in a warehouse, often with the long side walls not distant enough.
- The lack of space creates problems, especially in the case of technical maintenance operations.
-
WO-2017/187294 discloses a packaging machine provided with a tubular element able to change the direction of a plastic film by 90°. - It is the object of the present invention to provide a packaging machine with a reel assembly adapted to feed flat plastic film, with reduced transverse volume.
- It is a further object of the present invention that a different positioning of the reel assembly does not alter the arrangement of the work stations of the packaging machine, for example the forming station in which the forming tube is positioned, the sealing station of the plastic film and the filling station of the formed bag.
- It is an even further object of the present invention that the reel assembly substantially remains the same, without structural and functional modifications.
- According to the invention said and other objects are achieved by a pasta packaging machine as disclosed in claim 1.
- Advantageously the reel assembly does not modify the transverse volume of the packaging machine wherein there is no need to modify the position of the forming tube, nor that of other means adapted to realize successive work stations.
- The use of the sliding device is not very invasive, only slightly modifying the path of the plastic film in an area of the machine which is easy to be accessed from the outside.
- The sliding of the plastic film over the cylinder is continuous, steady and has low friction. Accordingly, the wear of the cylinder is limited.
- These and other features of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description of a practical exemplary embodiment thereof, shown by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, in which:
-
figure 1 shows a first perspective view of a packaging machine; -
figure 2 shows a second perspective view of the packaging machine; -
figure 3 shows a perspective view of a sliding device of a plastic film; -
figure 4 shows a sectional view according to line IV-IV offigure 5 ; -
figure 5 shows a top plan view of the sliding device; -
figure 6 shows a top plan view of a sliding cylinder of the sliding device; -
figure 7 shows a sectional view according to line VII-VII offigure 6 ; -
figure 8 shows a sectional view according to line VIII-VIII offigure 7 ; -
figure 9 shows a perspective view of a screw for adjusting the sliding device; -
figure 10 shows a perspective view of a block for adjusting the sliding device. - A machine 1 for packaging pasta or another food product (
figures 1 to 2 ) has a substantially parallelepiped volume, with acontainment frame 4 having side walls which are parallel two-by-two, in particular two long side walls 41 (longitudinal direction) and two short side walls 42 (transverse direction). - A
reel assembly 2 is mounted outside ashort side wall 42. - The
reel assembly 2 comprises coupling means 5 of reels 6 of plastic film 9 (depicted infigures 1 and2 without plastic film 9), motors 7 adapted to unwind the reels 6, andidler rollers 8 for transporting in tension the plastic film 9 still flat. - The packaging machine 1 further comprises a sliding device 10 (
figures 3 to 5 ) of the plastic film 9 adapted to modify the sliding direction of the plastic film 9, in particular from a longitudinal direction to a transverse direction. - Said sliding
device 10 comprises acylinder 11, twojoints 19 at the ends ofcylinder 11, and means 30 for adjusting the position ofcylinder 11 with respect to thecontainment frame 4. - The
joints 19 connect thecylinder 11 to the adjustment means 30. - The cylinder 11 (
figures 6 to 8 ) is hollow and comprises three series ofholes 12 aligned in the direction of the axis ofcylinder 11. The three series are parallel to one another and theholes 12 transversely cross the outer surface ofcylinder 11. - Considering a plane orthogonal to the axis of
cylinder 11, the three series ofholes 12 are at 120° from one another.Figure 8 only shows twoholes 12 because the third series is offset (figure 6). Figure 7 shows a sectional view of the third series ofholes 12. - Each
joint 19 has twoconnections 13 for the introduction of pressurized air into thecylinder 11. - As more apparent below, the air enters into the
cylinder 11 through theconnections 13 and leaves from thecylinder 11 through theholes 12, where the plastic film 9 slides. - Each
joint 19 is connected on one side to the ends of thecylinder 11 so that theconnections 13 are in fluid communication with the inner cavity ofcylinder 11, there being acavity 17 on the other side adapted tohouse pins 18 of said adjustment means 30. - The adjustment means 30 comprise a
screw 14 adapted to obtain a rotation fulcrum of thecylinder 11 about a vertical axis (orthogonal to the axis of the cylinder 11), and ablock 15 adapted to secure thecylinder 11 in a definite position, thus locking said rotation of thecylinder 11. - The
pins 18 are integral with thejoints 19 and are connected to thescrew 14 and theblock 15. - The
bock 15 comprises twoslots 16 in which two screws are engaged thus causing theblock 15 to be integral with thecontainment frame 4 of the packaging machine 1. - The function of the
sliding device 10 is clear by observingfigures 1 and2 . - The
sliding device 10 is mounted on the top of the packaging machine 1, close to the end on which thereel assembly 2 is mounted. - In particular, the
cylinder 11 is mounted diagonally (at 45°) with respect to the feeding direction of the plastic film 9 so as to rotate the feeding direction by 90° from a longitudinal direction to a transverse direction (figure 2 ). - The plastic film 9 advances horizontally in longitudinal direction before meeting with the
cylinder 11. - It then meets with the
cylinder 11 and partially winds it, modifying the feeding direction which becomes transverse towards the outside of the packaging machine 1. - The transmission rollers then invert the transverse motion direction so that the plastic film 9 returns towards the middle part of the machine 1 and is then directed downwards, where the forming tube receives it.
- The
cylinder 11 remains stationary and horizontal once it has been mounted. - The flow of pressurized air leaving through the
holes 12 from the side surface of thecylinder 11 allows the plastic film 9 to slide in an optimal manner, without friction or damage. - The
screw 14 and theblock 15 serve to find the optimal position of thecylinder 11 in the (frequent) case in which the packaging machine 1 has dimensional imperfections and/or the support surface of the packaging machine 1 is not perfectly flat. - Advantageously, the sliding of the plastic film 9 over the
cylinder 11 is continuous, steady and has low friction. Accordingly, the wear of thecylinder 11 is limited. - The pressurized air introduced into the
cylinder 11 is adjusted and results in low energy consumption. - The
reel assembly 2 is mounted outside theshort side wall 42 of the containment frame 4: advantageously thereel assembly 2 does not modify the transverse volume of the packaging machine 1 wherein there is no need to modify the position of the forming tube nor that of other means adapted to realize successive work stations. - The use of the
sliding device 10 is not very invasive, only slightly modifying the path of the plastic film 9 in an area of the machine 1 which is easy to be accessed from the outside.
