Description

The present invention relates to a piece of furniture with a first furniture part, a second furniture part and with at least two furniture hinges, by means of which the first furniture part and the second furniture part are pivotally connected to one another, wherein the furniture hinges are spaced apart from one another along a longitudinal direction of the furniture parts and wherein a gap is formed between the first furniture part and the second furniture part, wherein at least one cover is provided which extends at least between the first furniture hinge and the second furniture hinge and by means of which the gap can be covered at least in sections, wherein the first furniture part and the second furniture part can be moved by the at least two furniture hinges into a position in which the first furniture part and the second furniture part are aligned substantially coplanarly with one another.

Between two pieces of furniture that are connected to each other by two or more furniture hinges, a gap can form in at least one relative position of the furniture hinges, which can cause painful bruising if fingers are inserted and the furniture parts then move relative to each other. In addition, the joint mechanisms of the furniture hinges are visible through the gap, which does not meet the increasing need for aesthetics and clear lines. In addition, the gap facilitates the penetration of dirt into the furniture body.

In the EP 2 899 344 A1 an arrangement with two furniture hinges spaced apart from one another and with a cover is shown, whereby a gap which is formed in the assembled position between two door leaves connected to the furniture hinges can be covered by the cover. The cover is coupled with a movement of the furniture hinges, so that the cover is arranged between the door leaves in a coplanar position of the door leaves to one another and in a parallel position of the door leaves to one another in front of a gap formed between the door leaves. The cover is therefore visible to a person in all operating positions, which is visually disturbing. In addition, there is often a desire to change the external joint pattern of the to make the joints of the furniture uniform with those of neighbouring pieces of furniture, whereby the always visible cover also has a disturbing effect.

JP H 03 47380 U discloses a piece of furniture according to the preamble of claim 1, wherein in a coplanar position of two furniture parts a cover is completely covered. The object of the present invention is to propose a piece of furniture of the type mentioned at the outset, in which at least one of the aforementioned disadvantages is avoided. This is solved according to the invention by the features of patent claim 1. Further embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent patent claims.

According to the invention, it is therefore provided that the at least one cover is essentially completely covered by the first furniture part and/or by the second furniture part in the coplanar position of the furniture parts and is set back in the direction of the depth of the furniture.

This means that the cover is practically invisible to a person in a position in which the furniture parts are aligned coplanarly with each other. The gap formed between the furniture parts can therefore be dimensioned to a given standard size and made uniform with the gap dimensions of neighboring pieces of furniture.

Furthermore, it can be provided that the first furniture part and the second furniture part can be moved by the at least two furniture hinges into a position in which the first furniture part and the second furniture part are aligned substantially parallel to one another, wherein the at least one cover is arranged between the furniture parts when the furniture parts are in parallel position. In this way, the cover can be designed with a very small width, so that it is only very discreetly visible when the furniture parts are in parallel position.

It can be provided that at least one furniture hinge has a joint axis, wherein a longitudinal direction of the cover runs substantially parallel to the direction of the joint axis of the furniture hinge.

According to one embodiment, it can be provided that the cover is connected or, preferably detachably, connectable to at least one furniture hinge.

It is also possible that the first furniture part and the second furniture part are pivotally connected to one another via three or more furniture parts, wherein the cover extends at least between the three or more furniture hinges.

The width of the cover can be dimensioned such that the cover has a smaller width than the largest occurring width of the gap.

Fig. 1a shows a piece of furniture 1 with a furniture body 2, wherein a first furniture part 3a and a second furniture part 3b are each mounted so as to be movable relative to the furniture body 2. The first furniture part 3a and the second furniture part 3b are pivotally connected to one another via at least two furniture hinges 6, but three or more furniture hinges 6 spaced apart from one another can also be arranged. Furniture hinges 6, which are designed for the pivotal connection of two movably mounted furniture parts 3a, 3b, are often also referred to as center hinges. In addition, two further furniture parts 4a, 4b are also provided, which are also pivotably connected to one another via furniture hinges 6. A vertical gap 31 is formed between the first furniture part 3a and the second furniture part 3b, which can cause significant injuries to people if a finger is inserted into it, which allows a visually disturbing view of the furniture hinges 6 and which promotes the penetration of dirt into the furniture body 2.

The furniture parts 3a, 3b and 4a, 4b are mounted so that they can move relative to the furniture body 2 by a guide system 8. In the embodiment shown, the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b are guided by the guide system 8 between a first position in which the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b are aligned essentially parallel to one another, and a second position in which the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b are aligned essentially coplanar to one another ( Fig. 1b ), movably mounted. In the first position, in which the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b are aligned parallel to one another, the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b can be inserted in pairs into a hollow space 7a, 7b arranged laterally next to the furniture body 2. The guide system 8 comprises a first guide rail 9 with a longitudinal direction (L) for guiding the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b. The guide system 8 further comprises at least one second guide rail (not visible here) which, in the assembled state, runs at right angles to the longitudinal direction (L) of the first guide rail 9 and through which the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b can be moved in and out of the lateral hollow spaces 7a, 7b. The furniture part 3a is connected to a guide device 10a which is mounted so as to be movable along the guide rail 9. The furniture part 4a, on the other hand, is connected to a further guide device 10b, which is also mounted so as to be movable along the first guide rail 9. Fig. 1b shows the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b in a closed position in which the furniture parts 3a, 3b; 4a, 4b are aligned coplanar to each other.

Fig. 2a shows a perspective view of the furniture parts 3a and 3b, which in the figure shown assume a parallel position to each other and thereby fit into the lateral cavity 7a ( Fig. 1a, 1b ) can be retracted and extended. The guide device 10a connected to the first furniture part 3a can also be seen, which can be moved along the first guide rail 9. Between the furniture parts 3a, 3b, an elongated A gap 31 is formed which can be covered at least in sections by a cover 5. The cover 5 extends at least between two furniture hinges 6 which are spaced apart from one another in a longitudinal direction (H) of the furniture parts 3a, 3b. Fig. 2b shows the Fig. 2a circled area in an enlarged view, wherein the cover 5 covers the gap 31 and can at least partially protrude beyond the narrow sides of the furniture parts 3a. The cover 5 can be designed as a profile rail, preferably U-shaped in cross section, for example made of metal or plastic.

Fig. 3a shows the furniture parts 3a and 3b, which assume an angular position to each other. It can be seen that the cover 5 - starting from the (first) parallel position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b according to Fig. 2b , in which the cover 5 projects beyond the narrow sides of the furniture parts 3a, 3b - upon movement of the furniture parts 3a, 3b in the direction of a second position in which the furniture parts 3a, 3b assume a coplanar position with respect to one another - continuously retracts in the direction of the depth of the furniture body 2.

Fig.4 shows the back of the two furniture parts 3a and 3b, which in the figure shown assume a coplanar position to one another. The first furniture part 3a and the second furniture part 3b are pivotally connected to one another via two or more furniture hinges 6, wherein the furniture hinges 6 each have a first fitting part 6a for fastening to the first furniture part 3a and a second fitting part 6b for fastening to the second furniture part 3b, wherein the first fitting parts 6a and the second fitting parts 6b are each pivotally connected to one another via at least one joint axis 6c. The furniture hinges 6 are spaced apart from one another in a longitudinal direction (H) of the furniture parts 3a, 3b, wherein the cover 5 extends at least between two furniture hinges 6. In the coplanar position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b, the cover 5 is in a retracted position, so that the cover 5 is not visible from the front in this relative position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b.

Fig. 5a-5d show a movement of the furniture parts 3a and 3b starting from a parallel position into a coplanar position to each other. The first fitting part 6a is attached to the first furniture part 3a, the second fitting part 6b is attached to the second furniture part 3b, whereby the two fitting parts 6a, 6b are connected via the Fig.4 shown joint axis 6c are pivotally connected to one another. The cover 5 can be connected to at least one furniture hinge 6 or alternatively, preferably detachably, can be connected. The cover 5 can be mounted so as to be movable relative to the fitting parts 6a, 6b, wherein a movement of the cover 5 is coupled with a relative movement of the fitting parts 6a, 6b to one another. To control a movement of the cover 5, the first fitting part 6a has a first guide pin 11a and the second fitting part 6b has a second guide pin 11b, wherein the first guide pin 11a and the second guide pin 11b are each arranged offset to the joint axis 6c and each within a recess (20a, 20b, Fig. 6b ) of a bearing body 15, which is connected to the cover 5 or can be detachably connected, are guided with play. In Fig. 5a the parallel position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b is shown, in which the cover 5 at least partially protrudes over the narrow sides of the furniture parts 3a, 3b. In the embodiment shown, the cover 5 has an arcuate or curved peripheral surface. If the furniture parts 3a and 3b are now pivoted relative to each other ( Fig. 5b ), the cover 5 is moved by a relative movement of the fitting parts 6a, 6b. In a further position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b relative to each other ( Fig. 5c ) the cover 5 retracts continuously. In the coplanar position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b ( Fig. 5d ), the cover 5 is arranged on a rear side of the first furniture part 3a and/or a rear side of the second furniture part 3b, so that the cover 5 is practically not visible from the front in the coplanar position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b.

The furniture hinges 6 have a first contact surface 21a for contact with the first furniture part 3a and a second contact surface 21b for contact with the second furniture part 3b, wherein the width (B) of the at least one cover 5 in the parallel position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b ( Fig. 5a ) is smaller than the distance (B1) formed between the contact surfaces 21a, 21b of the furniture hinges 6. In the coplanar position of the furniture parts 3a, 3b ( Fig. 5d ), the at least one cover 5 is set back relative to the first and second contact surfaces 21a, 21b of the furniture hinges 6.

Fig. 6a shows a perspective view of a furniture hinge 6, which has a first fitting part 6a for fastening to the first furniture part 3a and a second fitting part 6b for fastening to the second furniture part 3b, wherein the fitting parts 6a and 6b are pivotably connected to one another via at least one joint axis 6c. The first fitting part 6a has a first base plate 12a, which is to be mounted on the first furniture part 3a via at least one first fastening means 17a. A first adjustment plate 13a is movably mounted on the first base plate 12a, wherein a position of the first adjustment plate 13a, preferably in the vertical direction (Y), relative to the first base plate 12a can be adjusted by actuating a first adjustment device 14a. In this way, the furniture parts 3a, 3b are mounted so that their height is adjustable relative to one another in the assembled state. The second fitting part 6b has a second base plate 12b, which is to be mounted on the second furniture part 3b via at least one second fastening means 17b. A second adjustment plate 13b is movably mounted on the second base plate 12b, whereby a position of the second adjustment plate 13b, preferably in the lateral direction (X), relative to the second base plate 12b can be adjusted by operating a second adjustment device 14b. In this way, the furniture parts 3a, 3b can be adjusted laterally relative to one another in the assembled state. In the figure shown, the adjustment devices 14a, 14b each have clamping screws which are arranged so as to be displaceable within an elongated hole in the adjustment plates 13a, 13b. To make an adjustment, the clamping screws must be loosened, the adjustment of the adjustment plates 13a, 13b carried out relative to the base plates 12a, 12b and then the clamping screws tightened again. However, at least one of the adjustment devices 14a, 14b can also be designed to be self-locking, whereby an actuation of an adjustment element can bring about a preferably stepless adjustment of the adjustment plates 13a, 13b relative to the base plates 12a, 12b.

The furniture hinge 6 has a bearing body 15, which is connected to the cover 5 or can be detachably connected. In this case, for example, guides 15a, 15b can be arranged or formed on the bearing body 15, wherein the cover 5 can be inserted into or snapped onto the guides 15a, 15b of the bearing body 15. Of course, the cover 5 can also be fastened to the bearing body 15 by other force-fitting or form-fitting connections. Upper and lower (first) guide pins 11a are arranged on the first adjustment plate 13a, while upper and lower (second) guide pins 11b are arranged on the second adjustment plate 13b, wherein the first and second guide pins 11a, 11b each engage in a Recess 20a, 20b ( Fig. 6b ) of the bearing body 15 and are guided with play in the recesses 20a, 20b of the bearing body 15.

Fig. 6b shows the furniture hinge 6 in an exploded view. At least one first linear guide 18a for the adjustable mounting of the first adjustment plate 13a in the direction (Y) is provided on the first base plate 12a of the first fitting part 6a, while at least one second linear guide 18b for the adjustable mounting of the second adjustment plate 12b is arranged or formed on the second base plate 12b of the second fitting part 6b. The bearing body 15 has upper and lower recesses 20a and 20b in which the upper and lower guide pins 11a, 11b of the adjustment plates 13a, 13b are guided with play. To close the upper and lower recesses 20a, 20b, upper and lower cover plates 19a, 19b are provided, which are fastened to the bearing body 15 by screws.

Unlike what is shown in the figures, the cover 5 can be provided not only for a vertically extending gap 31, but also for covering a horizontally extending gap 31, wherein the second furniture part 3b is pivotally mounted relative to the first furniture part 3a about a horizontally extending axis.

Claims (14)

1. An item of furniture (1) comprising a first furniture part (3a), a second furniture part (3b) and at least two furniture hinges (6) by which the first furniture part (3a) and the second furniture part (3b) are pivotally connected to each other, wherein the furniture hinges (6) are spaced apart from each other along a longitudinal direction (H) of the furniture parts (3a, 3b), and wherein a gap (31) is formed between the first furniture part (3a) and the second furniture part (3b), wherein at least one cover (5) is provided which extends at least between the first furniture hinge (6) and the second furniture hinge (6) and by which the gap (31) can be at least partially covered, wherein the first furniture part (3a) and the second furniture part (3b) are movable by the at least two furniture hinges (6) into a position in which the first furniture part (3a) and the second furniture part (3b) are aligned substantially coplanar relative to one another, wherein the at least one cover (5), in the coplanar position of the furniture parts (3a, 3b), is substantially entirely covered by the first furniture part (3a) and/or by the second furniture part (3b), wherein at least one furniture hinge (6) includes a first bearing surface (21a) configured to bear against the first furniture part (3a) and a second bearing surface (21b) configured to bear against the second furniture part (3b), characterized in that the at least one cover (5), in the position of the furniture parts (3a, 3b) in which the furniture parts (3a, 3b) are aligned substantially coplanar to each other, is set back relative to the first and second abutment surface (21a, 21b) of the at least one furniture hinge (6) in a direction of the depth of the item of furniture (1).

The item of furniture according to claim 1, characterized in that the first furniture part (3a) and the second furniture part (3b) are movable by the at least two furniture hinges (6) into a position in which the first furniture part (3a) and the second furniture part (3b) are aligned substantially parallel to each other, wherein the at least one cover (5), in the parallel position of the furniture parts (3a, 3b), is arranged between the furniture parts (3a, 3b).

The item of furniture according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the width (B) of the at least one cover (5), in the position of the furniture parts (3a, 3b) in which the furniture parts (3a, 3b) are aligned substantially parallel to each other, is smaller than the distance (B1) formed between the abutment surfaces (21a, 21b) of the furniture hinges (6).
4. The item of furniture according to one of the claims 1 to 3, characterized in that at least one furniture hinge (6) has a hinge axis (6c), wherein a longitudinal direction of the cover (5) extends substantially parallel to the direction of the hinge axis (6c) of the furniture hinge (6).
5. The item of furniture according to one of the claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the cover (5) is connected or is configured to be, preferably releasably, connected to at least one furniture hinge (6).

The item of furniture according to one of the claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the first furniture part (3a) and the second furniture part (3b) are pivotally connected to each other by three or more furniture hinges (6), wherein the cover (5) extends at least between the three or more furniture hinges (6).

The item of furniture according to one of the claims 2 to 6, characterized in that the cover (5), in the position of the furniture parts (3a, 3b) in which the furniture parts (3a, 3b) are aligned substantially parallel to each other, protrudes at least partially over the furniture parts (3a, 3b) .

The item of furniture according to one of the claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the cover (5), in the position of the furniture parts (3a, 3b) in which the furniture parts (3a, 3b) are aligned substantially coplanar to one another, is arranged on a rear side of the first furniture part (3a) and/or on a rear side of the second furniture part (3b).

The item of furniture according to one of the claims 1 to 8, characterized in that at least one furniture hinge (6) includes a first fitting portion (6a) fixed to the first furniture part (3a) and a second fitting portion (6b) fixed to the second furniture part (3b), wherein the first fitting portion (6a) and the second fitting portion (6b) are pivotally supported relative to each other about the at least one hinge axis (6c) of the furniture hinge (6) upon a relative movement to each other.
10. The item of furniture according to claim 9, characterized in that the cover (5) is movably supported relative to the at least one furniture hinge (6), wherein a movement of the cover (5) is coupled to a relative movement of the fitting portions (6a, 6b).
11. The item of furniture according to claim 9 or 10, characterized in that the cover (5), upon a relative movement of the fitting portions (6a, 6b), is symmetrically movable relative to the furniture parts (3a, 3b).
12. The item of furniture according to one of the claims 1 to 11, characterized in that at least one furniture hinge (6) includes a bearing body (15) which is connected or which is configured to be connected to the cover (5).
13. The item of furniture according to claim 12, characterized in that the bearing body (15) includes a first recess (20a) and at least a second recess (20b), wherein a first guide pin (11a) of the first fitting portion (6a) is guided within the first recess (20a) with clearance, and a second guide pin (11b) of the second fitting portion (6b) is guided within the second recess (20b) with clearance.
14. The item of furniture according to one of the claims 1 to 13, characterized in that the cover (5) is a profiled rail, preferably made of metal or plastic.
