This flexible layer can consist of a textile. In order to produce a composite body from these layers, it is provided that the flexible layer has perforations in one area, so that during lamination the front-side booklet and back-side booklet extend through the openings and are welded, glued or laminated to one another.
- the U.S. 3,279,826 discloses a security document according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention is based on the object of proposing a security document which makes manipulation more difficult. Furthermore, the invention is based on the object of proposing a method for producing such a security document, by means of which increased security against manipulation is made possible in a simple manner.
- This layer of the glass film in the security document has the advantage that manipulation, for example by removing individual layers by machining, is prevented.
- Such a glass film is brittle, so that at least this layer of the composite body cannot be removed by machining. Rather, an attempt at manipulation would lead to splintering and destruction of the glass layer. This would make the manipulation immediately recognizable.
- such a glass film has the advantage that, for example, coupling light into the security document from the outside can result in a simple check as to whether at least one layer of the glass film has been manipulated. The light brought into the glass film from outside can occur at other defined points. If the glass is tampered with or broken, the light will be reflected and the defined exit of the light will no longer be visible.
- an outcoupling window is arranged, it can be aligned with a transparent layer adjoining it, in order to also enable a visual inspection when looking at the document.
- the layer of glass film with a refractive index that is preferably greater than the layer deviating from the glass film has the advantage that the light is transported exclusively in the layer of glass film and a special security feature is thus created. Due to the refractive index, the coupled light does not exit the glass layer due to total reflection. This light can then be visible, for example, in an end face of the composite body up to which this layer of glass film extends at least partially.
- At the front edge and / or at least one structure is introduced into the decoupling window in at least one layer of glass film.
- This structure can be designed in many ways and form a security feature.
- the structure can be in the form of a surface modification, such as a depression or a roughening.
- This structure can also include printing or etching of numbers, symbols, images or the like.
- the structure can also reduce and/or prevent light leakage.
- the layer of glass film is in the form of a very thin glass layer.
- This preferably has a thickness of less than 300 ⁇ m, in particular a thickness of less than 100 ⁇ m.
- This layer of the glass film can thus have layer thicknesses analogous to the other layers for the front booklet and/or the back booklet of the security document and can be used in an analogous manner.
- the glass film has openings.
- this further layer can at least partially flow into the openings, as a result of which an improved anchoring of the at least two layers to one another is formed.
- the layer of glass foil can have a coating on one or both sides.
- This coating can be dielectric or metallic.
- This coating can be applied, for example, by vapor deposition.
- this coating can extend partially or completely over the surface of the glass film. This makes it possible for a security element to be introduced through the partial or complete coating itself.
- such a coating can be further specified and/or personalized by exposure, in particular by means of a laser beam.
- the layer of the glass film is at least partially roughened. That roughness can be provided on an upper side of the glass layer and have a certain size, contour or course. The total reflection can be eliminated by this roughening, so that the outcoupling window can be created by this roughening.
- An outer layer is preferably transparent or at least translucent in order to be able to detect a change in brightness from the outside.
- irradiation or exposure can be carried out using a laser or another radiation source in order to introduce inscription, personalization or other features to form the security element.
- diffractive structures can be created in the glass layer, which are easy to verify but cannot be copied by surface-modifying methods in the event of a manipulation attempt.
- At least one security feature is introduced into the layer of glass film and/or into the coating on the layer of glass film and into the at least one additional layer connected to the glass film, with parts of the security feature being incorporated into the layer of the Glass film and/or the coating on the layer of glass film and parts of the same security feature is introduced at least into the one further layer which is connected to the layer of glass film.
- the layer is provided in the front booklet and/or in the back booklet and/or in one between the front booklet and the back booklet Compensation layer has at least one active or passive transponder with an illumination source, which couples a light into the layer of glass film.
- an illumination source which couples a light into the layer of glass film.
- a further preferred embodiment of the security document provides that the layer of the glass film is provided as a core layer or as a compensating layer between the front booklet and the back booklet.
- the core layer or compensating layer makes it possible for the core layer or compensating layer to also have a thicker layer.
- the layer of the glass film is transparent or translucent. In particular when this layer is positioned close to an outside of the front booklet and/or the back booklet, a further security feature can thereby be created.
- the at least one layer of the glass film is set back inwards compared to at least one end edge of the composite body and this resulting free space is filled by the at least one layer with a different material. As a result, the structure of this security document is not visible from the outside.
- the at least one layer of the glass film can preferably have at least one predetermined breaking point. This makes it possible for manipulation of an adjacent further layer directly connected to the layer of glass film to result in destruction of the glass film, and the manipulation thus becomes obvious.
- a further preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the layer of glass film is chemically prestressed on one or both sides.
- the at least one layer that differs from the layer of glass film consists, for example, of one or more plastics, in particular polycarbonate (PC), especially bisphenol A polycarbonate, carboxy-modified PC, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), its derivatives such as glycol-modified PET ( PETG), carboxy-modified PET, polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinyl butyral (PVB), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyimide (PI) polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl phenol (PVP), polypropylene (PP ), Polyethylene (PE), thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), in particular thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS) and/or derivatives thereof, or of paper and/or cardboard or of a mixture of the aforementioned materials .
- PC polycarbonate
- the layer of glass foil preferably has a refractive index of greater than 1.6. In this way, total reflection within the glass film is ensured, for example in the combination of the layer of glass film and a polycarbonate layer.
- a polycarbonate layer has a refractive index of 1.585, for example.
- the object on which the invention is based is also achieved by a method according to claim 13 .
- light can be coupled into the glass layer from the outside and safety check to be carried out.
- the light can then extend to another edge as far as an outer edge of the assembly, emerge at the end edge or via the outcoupling window.
- the glass film can preferably have at least one roughened surface, which improves the bond with at least one further layer made of a material that differs from the glass film.
- a web-shaped composite body can be produced in a continuous process. This increases productivity.
- the composite body guided out of the laminating device is cut into individual blanks.
- the blank can be designed for the individual use.
- the security element according to one of the above-described embodiments can be provided for multiple uses, such as a data page for a book-like valuable and/or security document, as a passport, as an ID document, in particular in an ID-1 or ID-3 format, as a debit card, Visa card, driver's license, access control badge, visa, gift or shopping card or other proof of entitlement.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a security document which makes manipulation more difficult. Furthermore, the invention is based on the object of proposing a method for producing such a security document, by means of which increased security against manipulation is made possible in a simple manner.
This object is achieved by a security document according to
This layer of the glass film in the security document has the advantage that manipulation, for example by removing individual layers by machining, is prevented. Such a glass film is brittle, so that at least this layer of the composite body cannot be removed by machining. Rather, an attempt at manipulation would lead to splintering and destruction of the glass layer. This would make the manipulation immediately recognizable. In addition, such a glass film has the advantage that, for example, coupling light into the security document from the outside can result in a simple check as to whether at least one layer of the glass film has been manipulated. The light brought into the glass film from outside can occur at other defined points. If the glass is tampered with or broken, the light will be reflected and the defined exit of the light will no longer be visible. When an outcoupling window is arranged, it can be aligned with a transparent layer adjoining it, in order to also enable a visual inspection when looking at the document.
The layer of glass film with a refractive index that is preferably greater than the layer deviating from the glass film has the advantage that the light is transported exclusively in the layer of glass film and a special security feature is thus created. Due to the refractive index, the coupled light does not exit the glass layer due to total reflection. This light can then be visible, for example, in an end face of the composite body up to which this layer of glass film extends at least partially.
Furthermore, it is preferably provided that at the front edge and / or at least one structure is introduced into the decoupling window in at least one layer of glass film. This structure can be designed in many ways and form a security feature. The structure can be in the form of a surface modification, such as a depression or a roughening. This structure can also include printing or etching of numbers, symbols, images or the like. The structure can also reduce and/or prevent light leakage.
Provision is preferably made for the layer of glass film to be in the form of a very thin glass layer. This preferably has a thickness of less than 300 μm, in particular a thickness of less than 100 μm. This layer of the glass film can thus have layer thicknesses analogous to the other layers for the front booklet and/or the back booklet of the security document and can be used in an analogous manner.
To increase security against manipulation, it can be provided that the glass film has openings. When forming a composite body with at least one further layer, which deviates from the layer of glass foil, this further layer can at least partially flow into the openings, as a result of which an improved anchoring of the at least two layers to one another is formed.
Furthermore, the layer of glass foil can have a coating on one or both sides. This coating can be dielectric or metallic. This coating can be applied, for example, by vapor deposition. Furthermore, this coating can extend partially or completely over the surface of the glass film. This makes it possible for a security element to be introduced through the partial or complete coating itself. In addition, such a coating can be further specified and/or personalized by exposure, in particular by means of a laser beam.
Furthermore, it can preferably be provided that the layer of the glass film is at least partially roughened. That roughness can be provided on an upper side of the glass layer and have a certain size, contour or course. The total reflection can be eliminated by this roughening, so that the outcoupling window can be created by this roughening. An outer layer is preferably transparent or at least translucent in order to be able to detect a change in brightness from the outside.
Provision is preferably made for at least one security element introduced by exposure to be provided in the layer of glass film and/or in the coating on the layer of glass film. For example, irradiation or exposure can be carried out using a laser or another radiation source in order to introduce inscription, personalization or other features to form the security element. Furthermore, diffractive structures can be created in the glass layer, which are easy to verify but cannot be copied by surface-modifying methods in the event of a manipulation attempt.
Furthermore, it is preferably provided that at least one security feature is introduced into the layer of glass film and/or into the coating on the layer of glass film and into the at least one additional layer connected to the glass film, with parts of the security feature being incorporated into the layer of the Glass film and/or the coating on the layer of glass film and parts of the same security feature is introduced at least into the one further layer which is connected to the layer of glass film. As a result, an attempt at manipulation by detaching individual layers can also be detected in a simple manner, since the parts of the security features that are introduced into the layer of glass film and into another layer connected thereto result in a uniform security element when viewed on the security document and paragraphs, interruptions or the like would be recognizable in the event of manipulation.
It can advantageously be provided that the layer is provided in the front booklet and/or in the back booklet and/or in one between the front booklet and the back booklet Compensation layer has at least one active or passive transponder with an illumination source, which couples a light into the layer of glass film. As a result, a further safety check can be carried out when the lighting is activated by looking at a front edge of the composite body up to which the layer of glass film extends.
A further preferred embodiment of the security document provides that the layer of the glass film is provided as a core layer or as a compensating layer between the front booklet and the back booklet. Such a structure makes it possible for the core layer or compensating layer to also have a thicker layer.
Furthermore, it can be provided that the layer of the glass film is transparent or translucent. In particular when this layer is positioned close to an outside of the front booklet and/or the back booklet, a further security feature can thereby be created.
According to a further alternative embodiment of the security document, it can be provided that the at least one layer of the glass film is set back inwards compared to at least one end edge of the composite body and this resulting free space is filled by the at least one layer with a different material. As a result, the structure of this security document is not visible from the outside.
The at least one layer of the glass film can preferably have at least one predetermined breaking point. This makes it possible for manipulation of an adjacent further layer directly connected to the layer of glass film to result in destruction of the glass film, and the manipulation thus becomes obvious.
A further preferred embodiment of the invention provides that the layer of glass film is chemically prestressed on one or both sides. As a result, in the event of an attempt at manipulation by removing individual layers, there can be a change in the planar alignment of the composite body, which is an indicator of a forgery forms.
Die zumindest eine von der Schicht aus der Glasfolie abweichende Schicht besteht beispielsweise aus einer oder mehreren Kunststoffen, insbesondere aus Polycarbonat (PC), ganz besonders Bisphenol-A-Polycarbonat, Carboxy-modifziertem PC, Polyethylenterephthalat (PET), dessen Derivaten wie glykolmodifiziertem PET (PETG), Carboxy-modifiziertem PET, Polyethylennaphthalat (PEN), Polyvinylchlorid (PVC), Polyvinylbutyral (PVB), Polymethylmethacrylat (PMMA), Polyimid (PI) Polyvinylalkohol (PVA), Polystyrol (PS), Polyvinylphenol (PVP), Polypropylen (PP), Polyethylen (PE), thermoplastischen Elastomeren (TPE), insbesondere thermoplastischem Polyurethan (TPU), Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol-Copolymer (ABS) und/oder deren Derivaten, oder aus Papier und/oder Pappe oder aus einer Mischung der vorgenannten Materialien. The at least one layer that differs from the layer of glass film consists, for example, of one or more plastics, in particular polycarbonate (PC), especially bisphenol A polycarbonate, carboxy-modified PC, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), its derivatives such as glycol-modified PET ( PETG), carboxy-modified PET, polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyvinyl butyral (PVB), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyimide (PI) polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl phenol (PVP), polypropylene (PP ), Polyethylene (PE), thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), in particular thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS) and/or derivatives thereof, or of paper and/or cardboard or of a mixture of the aforementioned materials .
The layer of glass foil preferably has a refractive index of greater than 1.6. In this way, total reflection within the glass film is ensured, for example in the combination of the layer of glass film and a polycarbonate layer. A polycarbonate layer has a refractive index of 1.585, for example.
The object on which the invention is based is also achieved by a method according to claim 13 . As a result, light can be coupled into the glass layer from the outside and safety check to be carried out. The light can then extend to another edge as far as an outer edge of the assembly, emerge at the end edge or via the outcoupling window.
The glass film can preferably have at least one roughened surface, which improves the bond with at least one further layer made of a material that differs from the glass film.
Provision is preferably made for the at least one layer of the glass film to be provided as strip material, in particular as a glass roll, and fed to a laminating device together with the at least one further layer. As a result, a web-shaped composite body can be produced in a continuous process. This increases productivity.
Furthermore, it is preferably provided that the composite body guided out of the laminating device is cut into individual blanks. Depending on the desired formats and sizes, the blank can be designed for the individual use.
It is preferably provided that the security element according to one of the above-described embodiments can be provided for multiple uses, such as a data page for a book-like valuable and/or security document, as a passport, as an ID document, in particular in an ID-1 or ID-3 format, as a debit card, Visa card, driver's license, access control badge, visa, gift or shopping card or other proof of entitlement.
The invention and other advantageous embodiments and developments thereof are described and explained in more detail below with reference to the examples shown in the drawings.

The
