- the slider 4 is made of a synthetic resin and, as illustrated in Fig. 1 , is attached so as to be movable back and forth with respect to the housing 21 of the first connector 2 in a front-rear direction thereof. As illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 , the slider 4 includes the cylindrical main body portion 41, and a temporary locking portion 47 is cantilevered at a rear side of the main body portion 41 so as to be elastically movable upward and downward.
- a pair of U-shaped flexible arms 45 are integrally formed on the main body portion 41 so as to extend forward from a rear end portion 43 of the slider 4 and then a front side of the flexible arms 45 extends backward to the connector the rear end portion 43 of the slider 4 such that the front side of the flexible arms 45 is folded.
- a tip portion of each flexible arm 45 is integrally provided with an engaging claw 45a preventing from falling-off and projecting therefrom. Since the temporary locking portion 47 of the slider 4 is normally locked to the slider locking portion 27 of the housing 21, the slider 4 is prevented from moving forward from the slider locking portion 27.
- An interlock male terminal (terminal for an interlock) 9 illustrated in Fig. 2 is built in the main body portion 41 of the slider 4, and an interlock female terminal 10 is built in the housing 31 of the second connector 3 so as to face the interlock male terminal 9.
- the interlock male terminal 9 and the interlock female terminal 10 are connected to a signal circuit configured to be possible to electrically connect the electric wires 5 of the first connector 2 and the electric wires 6 of the second connector 3 (i.e., electrically connecting the electric wires 5 and 6 with each other, or electrically disconnecting the electric wires 5 and 6 with each other).
- the signal circuit When the interlock male terminal 9 and the interlock female terminal 10 are connected with each other, the signal circuit is closed, so that the electric wires 5 and the electric wires 6 are in conduction. Conversely, when the interlock male terminal 9 and the interlock female terminal 10 are not connected with each other, the signal circuit is opened, so that conduction between the electric wires 5 and the electric wires 6 is cut off.
- the signal circuit configured to be possible to be electrically connect the electric wires 5 and the electric wires 6 is intended to mean that the signal circuit is closed so that the electric wires 5 and the electric wires 6 are in conduction, or that the signal circuit is opened so that conduction between the electric wires 5 and the electric wires 6 is cut off.
- the connector device 1 since the connector device 1 according to the embodiment has the above-described configuration, when the first connector 2 and the second connector 3 of the connector device 1 are coupled, the following procedure is performed.
- the second connector 3 is made to face the first connector 2.
- the coupling lever 7 is rotated forward to a front side of the first connector 2 and stands up. Since the slider 4 is pulled backward to a rear side of the first connector 2, the temporary locking portion 47 is engaged with the slider locking portion 27 of the housing 21 and locked at the rear side of the first connector 2, and the interlock male terminal 9 is not connected to the interlock female terminal 10.
- the second connector 3 is inserted into the first connector 2 and temporarily locked thereto. Then, the pins 34 of the second connector 3 are respectively engaged with the tip portions having openings of the guide grooves 71 of the coupling lever 7.
- the female terminals 22 of the first connector 2 and the male terminals 32 of the second connector 3 are lightly fitted.
- the electric wires 5 and the electric wires 6 may not be in conduction in a halfway fitted state (i.e., temporary locking). Therefore, operations such as inspection and repair of an electric system can be performed more safely.
- the coupling lever 7 is rotated backward by substantially 90° to the rear side of the first connector 2.
- the guide grooves 71 rotate backward around the pins 24 to the rear side of the first connector 2 while keeping engagement with the pins 34, respectively.
- a distance between the pin 24 and the pin 34 that is, a distance between the first connector 2 and the second connector 3 is shortened as the coupling lever 7 is rotated backward to the rear side of the first connector 2.
- the second connector 3 approaches to the first connector 2, and the female terminals 22 of the second connector 3 and the male terminals 32 of the second connector 3 are reliably fitted. In this way, the first connector 2 and the second connector 3 are fully locked.
- the slider 4 is pulled backward to the rear side of the first connector 2.
- the temporary locking release projection 76 pushes down the temporary locking portion 47 of the slider 4, so that the slider 4 is unlocked at the rear side of the first connector 2 and can be moved forward to the front side of the first connector 2.
- the coupling lever 7 is locked and the first connector 2 and the second connector 3 are completely fitted.
- the slider 4 is moved forward to the front side of the first connector 2 by pressing an operation portion 42.
- the slider 4 is positioned at a normal locked position and the flexible arms 45 are respectively engaged with the first engagement holes 77 for the fitting detection member of the coupling lever 7, and the engaging claws 45a preventing from falling-off are respectively engaged with the second engagement holes 75 for the full locking of the coupling lever 7.
- the tip portion of each flexible arm 45 of the slider 4 can be elastically bent upward and downward, engagement of the engaging claws 45a preventing from falling-off with respect to the second engagement holes 75 for the full locking is smoothly performed.
- the coupling lever 7 is locked to the housing 21 of the first connector 2 by the slider 4.
- the slider 4 is locked such that the first connector 2 is prevented from pulling backward to the rear side of the first connector 2 by engaging the engaging claws 45a preventing from falling-off with the full locking lock engagement holes 75.
- the interlock male terminal 9 is connected to the interlock female terminal 10, and the electric wires 5 and the electric wires 6 are in conduction.
- the slider 4 of the connector fitting assurance mechanism provided with the interlock male terminal 9 is disposed at a position where a rear end portion 43 of the slider 4 projects backward from a rear end of the first connector 2 when the coupling lever 7 in the connector device 1 serving as the lever fitting type connector is not locked. Therefore, the rear end portion 43 of the slider 4 that projects backward from the rear end of the first connector 2 can be visualized not only from a coupling lever 7 side, but also from an opposite side of the coupling lever 7 and a left-right width direction of the coupling lever 7.
- the connector device 1 of the embodiment visual confirmation of whether the slider 4 is in the normal locked position is facilitated regardless of a vehicle mounting state, so that workability of inspection work is improved. According to the connector device 1 of the embodiment, it is possible to easily determine whether the coupling lever 7 is locked even in the lever fitting type connector.
- a rear holder 8 is attached to the rear end of the first connector 2 to restrict the rubber plugs 28 from separation, the rubber plugs 28 being attached to openings leading out the electric wires 5 of the terminal accommodation chamber 23s in which the female terminals 22 are accommodated, and the rear end portion 43 of the slider 4 is disposed at a position substantially flush with a rear end surface 81 of the rear holder 8 when the coupling lever 7 is locked.
- a pair of locking pieces 85 are locked and attached to a pair of locking portions 26 projecting from both side surfaces of the housing 21.
- the position substantially flush with the rear end surface 81 of the rear holder 8 is intended to mean a position where the slider 4 moves forward to the front side of the first connector 2 as compared with a position where the slider 4 is pulled backward to the rear side of the first connector 2 (i.e., a surface formed by the rear end portion 43 and the rear end surface 81 is flat or has a bit of a step).
- the rear end surface 81 of the rear holder 8 is provided with a notch 83 that is cut out such that the rear end portion 43 of the slider 4 can be inserted. Therefore, the visual confirmation is simplified since it may be visualized whether the rear end portion 43 of the slider 4 projects backward from the rear end surface 81 of the rear holder 8 around the notch 83.
- the coupling lever 7 of the lever fitting type connector has been described as an example of the movable arm in the above embodiment, the aspect of the present invention is not limited thereto.
- the movable arm according to the aspect of the present invention that holds the second connector in a fitted state with respect to the first connector may be a lock arm provided in the first connector for locking a lock projection portion provided in the second connector.
- the rear end surface 81 of the rear holder 8 is used as the rear end of the first connector for visualizing the rear end portion 43 of the slider 4.
- a rear end surface of the coupling lever 7 in a completely fitted state may be the rear end of the first connector, or a rear end of a housing may directly be the rear end of the first connector.
- the slider of the connector fitting assurance mechanism provided with the interlock male terminal is disposed at a position where a rear end portion of the slider projects backward from a rear end of the first connector when the movable arm is not locked. Therefore, the rear end portion of the slider that projects backward from the rear end of the first connector can be visualized not only from a movable arm side, but also from an opposite side of the movable arm and a left-right width direction of the movable arm. Accordingly, visual confirmation of whether the slider is in the normal locked position is facilitated regardless of a vehicle mounting state, so that workability of inspection work is improved.
- the slider of the connector fitting assurance mechanism provided with the interlock male terminal is disposed at a position where a rear end portion of the slider projects backward from a rear end of the first connector when the coupling lever in the connector device serving as the lever fitting type connector is not locked. Therefore, the rear end portion of the slider that projects backward from the rear end of the first connector can be visualized not only from a coupling lever side, but also from an opposite side of the coupling lever and a left-right width direction of the coupling lever. Accordingly, it is possible to easily determine whether the coupling lever is locked even in the lever fitting type connector.

Description
- The present disclosure relates to a connector device.
- Document
US 2009/286418 A1 a connector device according to the preamble ofclaim 1.
DocumentWO 2010/150975 A1 discloses two connector housings installed together by a rotatable coupling support member.
DocumentUS 5 041 017 A discloses a connector having two connector housings which are locked by a movable slider.
In related art, a lever fitting type connector used for electrical connection between a motor and an inverter mounted on a vehicle such as an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle is proposed as a connector device that mechanically detects a fitting between male and female connectors and electrically detects the fitting of their connectors in order to prevent arc discharge when the connectors are separated (seeJP 2007-149420 A - In such a lever fitting type connector, since an interlock terminal is integrated with a slider of a connector fitting assurance mechanism, the lever fitting type connector can be shortened and the number of components of the lever fitting type connector can be reduced.
- In the lever fitting type connector in which the interlock terminal is integrated with the slider of the connector fitting assurance mechanism, since the slider is disposed inside a rotation track of the coupling lever, a direction of visual confirmation of an inspector for a fitting work is limited only to a coupling lever side. Therefore, depending on a vehicle mounting state of the lever fitting type connector, it is difficult for the inspector of the fitting work to visually confirm whether the slider is in a normal locked position, which may lead to a decrease in workability of inspection work.
- An aspect of the present invention is to provide a connector device, according to
claim 1, capable of shortening a connector by integrating an interlock terminal with a slider of a connector fitting assurance mechanism and facilitating visual confirmation of whether the slider is in a normal locked position. - According to an aspect of the present invention, the connector device can be provided in which the connector may be shortened by integrating the interlock terminal with the slider of the connector fitting assurance mechanism, and the visual confirmation of whether the slider is in the normal locked position may be facilitated.
- Aspects of the present invention have been briefly described as above. Details of the aspects are further clarified by reading a mode (hereinafter, referred to as "embodiment") for carrying out the aspects described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

pins 34 project from both left and right side surfaces of thehousing 31, and eachpin 34 faces the tip portion having the opening of theguide groove 71 of thecoupling lever 7. - The
slider 4 is made of a synthetic resin and, as illustrated inFig. 1 , is attached so as to be movable back and forth with respect to thehousing 21 of thefirst connector 2 in a front-rear direction thereof. As illustrated inFigs. 2 and3 , theslider 4 includes the cylindricalmain body portion 41, and atemporary locking portion 47 is cantilevered at a rear side of themain body portion 41 so as to be elastically movable upward and downward. - A pair of U-shaped
flexible arms 45 are integrally formed on themain body portion 41 so as to extend forward from arear end portion 43 of theslider 4 and then a front side of theflexible arms 45 extends backward to the connector therear end portion 43 of theslider 4 such that the front side of theflexible arms 45 is folded. A tip portion of eachflexible arm 45 is integrally provided with anengaging claw 45a preventing from falling-off and projecting therefrom. Since thetemporary locking portion 47 of theslider 4 is normally locked to theslider locking portion 27 of thehousing 21, theslider 4 is prevented from moving forward from theslider locking portion 27. - An interlock male terminal (terminal for an interlock) 9 illustrated in
Fig. 2 is built in themain body portion 41 of theslider 4, and an interlockfemale terminal 10 is built in thehousing 31 of thesecond connector 3 so as to face the interlockmale terminal 9. - The interlock
male terminal 9 and the interlockfemale terminal 10 are connected to a signal circuit configured to be possible to electrically connect theelectric wires 5 of thefirst connector 2 and theelectric wires 6 of the second connector 3 (i.e., electrically connecting theelectric wires electric wires - When the interlock
male terminal 9 and the interlockfemale terminal 10 are connected with each other, the signal circuit is closed, so that theelectric wires 5 and theelectric wires 6 are in conduction. Conversely, when the interlockmale terminal 9 and the interlockfemale terminal 10 are not connected with each other, the signal circuit is opened, so that conduction between theelectric wires 5 and theelectric wires 6 is cut off. - The wording "the signal circuit configured to be possible to be electrically connect the
electric wires 5 and theelectric wires 6" is intended to mean that the signal circuit is closed so that theelectric wires 5 and theelectric wires 6 are in conduction, or that the signal circuit is opened so that conduction between theelectric wires 5 and theelectric wires 6 is cut off. - Since the
connector device 1 according to the embodiment has the above-described configuration, when thefirst connector 2 and thesecond connector 3 of theconnector device 1 are coupled, the following procedure is performed. - First, as illustrated in
Fig. 1 , thesecond connector 3 is made to face thefirst connector 2. At this time, thecoupling lever 7 is rotated forward to a front side of thefirst connector 2 and stands up. Since theslider 4 is pulled backward to a rear side of thefirst connector 2, thetemporary locking portion 47 is engaged with theslider locking portion 27 of thehousing 21 and locked at the rear side of thefirst connector 2, and the interlockmale terminal 9 is not connected to the interlockfemale terminal 10. - Next, as illustrated in
Fig. 4 , thesecond connector 3 is inserted into thefirst connector 2 and temporarily locked thereto. Then, thepins 34 of thesecond connector 3 are respectively engaged with the tip portions having openings of theguide grooves 71 of thecoupling lever 7. Thefemale terminals 22 of thefirst connector 2 and themale terminals 32 of thesecond connector 3 are lightly fitted. However, at this time, since the interlockmale terminal 9 and the interlockfemale terminal 10 are not connected, theelectric wires 5 and theelectric wires 6 may not be in conduction in a halfway fitted state (i.e., temporary locking). Therefore, operations such as inspection and repair of an electric system can be performed more safely. - Next, as illustrated in
Figs. 5 and6 , thefirst connector 2 and thesecond connector 3 are fully locked. In this case, thecoupling lever 7 is rotated backward by substantially 90° to the rear side of thefirst connector 2. Then, theguide grooves 71 rotate backward around thepins 24 to the rear side of thefirst connector 2 while keeping engagement with thepins 34, respectively. At this time, since the distance between theguide groove 71 and thepin 24 is shortened as approaching from the tip portion having opening to the end portion of theguide groove 71, a distance between thepin 24 and thepin 34, that is, a distance between thefirst connector 2 and thesecond connector 3 is shortened as thecoupling lever 7 is rotated backward to the rear side of thefirst connector 2. As a result, thesecond connector 3 approaches to thefirst connector 2, and thefemale terminals 22 of thesecond connector 3 and themale terminals 32 of thesecond connector 3 are reliably fitted. In this way, thefirst connector 2 and thesecond connector 3 are fully locked. Theslider 4 is pulled backward to the rear side of thefirst connector 2. - Due to a lever fitting type in which the
second connector 3 is pulled backward to thefirst connector 2 by operating thecoupling lever 7 for full locking, a force required for an insertion of thesecond connector 3 during the temporary locking may be small. However, thecoupling lever 7 is not locked, that is, in a non-locked state. - When the
coupling lever 7 is rotated by substantially 90° to the rear side of thefirst connector 2, the temporarylocking release projection 76 pushes down thetemporary locking portion 47 of theslider 4, so that theslider 4 is unlocked at the rear side of thefirst connector 2 and can be moved forward to the front side of thefirst connector 2. - Finally, as illustrated in
Figs. 7 and8 , thecoupling lever 7 is locked and thefirst connector 2 and thesecond connector 3 are completely fitted. In this case, theslider 4 is moved forward to the front side of thefirst connector 2 by pressing anoperation portion 42. Then, theslider 4 is positioned at a normal locked position and theflexible arms 45 are respectively engaged with the first engagement holes 77 for the fitting detection member of thecoupling lever 7, and the engagingclaws 45a preventing from falling-off are respectively engaged with the second engagement holes 75 for the full locking of thecoupling lever 7. At this time, since the tip portion of eachflexible arm 45 of theslider 4 can be elastically bent upward and downward, engagement of the engagingclaws 45a preventing from falling-off with respect to the second engagement holes 75 for the full locking is smoothly performed. - As a result, the
coupling lever 7 is locked to thehousing 21 of thefirst connector 2 by theslider 4. Theslider 4 is locked such that thefirst connector 2 is prevented from pulling backward to the rear side of thefirst connector 2 by engaging the engagingclaws 45a preventing from falling-off with the full locking lock engagement holes 75. - When the
slider 4 is moved forward to the front side of thefirst connector 2, the interlockmale terminal 9 is connected to the interlockfemale terminal 10, and theelectric wires 5 and theelectric wires 6 are in conduction. - Here, coupling operation between the
first connector 2 and thesecond connector 3 is completed. - According to the
connector device 1 of the embodiment, as illustrated inFigs. 9A to 9C , theslider 4 of the connector fitting assurance mechanism provided with the interlockmale terminal 9 is disposed at a position where arear end portion 43 of theslider 4 projects backward from a rear end of thefirst connector 2 when thecoupling lever 7 in theconnector device 1 serving as the lever fitting type connector is not locked. Therefore, therear end portion 43 of theslider 4 that projects backward from the rear end of thefirst connector 2 can be visualized not only from acoupling lever 7 side, but also from an opposite side of thecoupling lever 7 and a left-right width direction of thecoupling lever 7. - Accordingly, in the
connector device 1 of the embodiment, visual confirmation of whether theslider 4 is in the normal locked position is facilitated regardless of a vehicle mounting state, so that workability of inspection work is improved. According to theconnector device 1 of the embodiment, it is possible to easily determine whether thecoupling lever 7 is locked even in the lever fitting type connector. - According to the
connector device 1 of the embodiment, arear holder 8 is attached to the rear end of thefirst connector 2 to restrict the rubber plugs 28 from separation, the rubber plugs 28 being attached to openings leading out theelectric wires 5 of the terminal accommodation chamber 23s in which thefemale terminals 22 are accommodated, and therear end portion 43 of theslider 4 is disposed at a position substantially flush with arear end surface 81 of therear holder 8 when thecoupling lever 7 is locked. In therear holder 8, a pair of lockingpieces 85 are locked and attached to a pair of lockingportions 26 projecting from both side surfaces of thehousing 21. - The wording "the position substantially flush with the
rear end surface 81 of therear holder 8" is intended to mean a position where theslider 4 moves forward to the front side of thefirst connector 2 as compared with a position where theslider 4 is pulled backward to the rear side of the first connector 2 (i.e., a surface formed by therear end portion 43 and therear end surface 81 is flat or has a bit of a step). - As illustrated in
Fig. 2 , therear end surface 81 of therear holder 8 is provided with anotch 83 that is cut out such that therear end portion 43 of theslider 4 can be inserted. Therefore, the visual confirmation is simplified since it may be visualized whether therear end portion 43 of theslider 4 projects backward from therear end surface 81 of therear holder 8 around thenotch 83. - For example, although the
coupling lever 7 of the lever fitting type connector has been described as an example of the movable arm in the above embodiment, the aspect of the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the movable arm according to the aspect of the present invention that holds the second connector in a fitted state with respect to the first connector may be a lock arm provided in the first connector for locking a lock projection portion provided in the second connector. - According to the invention, the
rear end surface 81 of therear holder 8 is used as the rear end of the first connector for visualizing therear end portion 43 of theslider 4. In comparative examples, a rear end surface of thecoupling lever 7 in a completely fitted state may be the rear end of the first connector, or a rear end of a housing may directly be the rear end of the first connector. - According to the aspects of the present invention, the slider of the connector fitting assurance mechanism provided with the interlock male terminal is disposed at a position where a rear end portion of the slider projects backward from a rear end of the first connector when the movable arm is not locked.
- Visual confirmation is simplified since it may be visualized weather the rear end surface of the slider projects backward from the rear end surface which is substantially flush at the rear holder attached to the rear end of the first connector.
- Visual confirmation is simplified since it may be visualized whether the rear end portion of the slider projects backward from the rear end surface of the rear holder around the notch.
