Definitions
- the present invention relates to an applicator for applying a liquid or pasty application medium, for. B. an ink or other pigmented fluid on a surface.
- the application devices of particular interest here are those which have a valve device which can be operated by a user and which is located between a reservoir for the liquid application medium and a capillary application element at the tip of the application device.
- Corresponding applicators are also called “valve markers”. They usually contain liquid application medium with a comparatively high proportion of pigments, ie heavily pigmented inks. For this reason, there are mixing bodies (eg balls) loosely contained within the reservoir, which cause the liquid application medium to be mixed in the reservoir by shaking the application device.
- the valve device in such application devices is usually actuated several times by the user. This "pumping" allows liquid application medium to be fed from the reservoir to the application element.
- Such application devices are used primarily for applying lacquer to surfaces for decoration, marking and / or repair purposes. Such application devices can also be used in the field of cosmetics or medicine.
- Such application devices can also be used in the field of cosmetics or medicine.
- Valve markers usually contain a solid portion or pigment portion in the liquid Application medium of approx. 5 to 30% by weight. However, inks of this type can also be used without dye-based pigments.
- An application device is from the EP 0 601 192 A1 known.
- the application device described is used in the case of EP 0 601 192 A1 for applying nail polish, a cannula with a hollow tube being pressed onto the piston in a valve device by pressing a button, said valve being coupled to a reservoir for the nail polish. If the button is released again, nail polish gets from the storage container through the hollow tube to a brush of the applicator.
- An application device comprises a writing tip and a receiving space, in which a valve device is arranged, which has a valve housing with a valve body and a valve closure element, which is acted upon by a return spring, which is movably mounted in the valve housing and interacts with the valve body.
- the writing tip of the applicator is mounted so that it can be moved in and out relative to the receiving housing when the valve closure body is actuated, the writing tip being extended in the non-use position and the valve device being closed. The writing tip can be retracted, thereby opening the valve device.
- the valve closure body of the valve device is actuated by pressing the movable writing tip against a counter bearing such as, for. B.
- a applicator for soft nibs is from the DE 10 2008 050 066 B4 known.
- This has a valve device for closing the storage container as well as a central, capillary-promoting, soft application element and a dimensionally stable, hard sleeve element surrounding the application element, the sleeve element protruding from the front of the application device with a shoulder and the central application element with an application section over the shoulder protrudes from the sleeve element.
- a dimensionally stable, hard actuating element with an actuating end portion and a receiving hole for contacting the shoulder of the sleeve element is necessary, which is usually integrated into the cap. This construction is also complex.
- the DE 20 2004 020 008 U1 describes an application device with a valve device in which an application member has a first and a second application member area, the first application member area being soft and capillary-conveying and the second application member area being dimensionally stable and hard.
- the second applicator area serves to actuate the valve device.
- the EP 0 240 738 A2 describes a device for applying flowable masses, in which a head part is pushed away from the base body by pressing on a circumferential ring on a cylindrical base body, what separates a functional surface with an opening from a sealing seat. Liquid can then pass through the passage into the head part and exit there via an application element.
- a multi-part attachment which comprises an outer tube and an inner tube, the inner tube having extensions which are guided in slots in the outer tube.
- the aerosol can flow through the inner tube.
- WO 2013/140092 A1 relates to a fluid applicator with a fluid container, a valve having a membrane and tubular needles, a buffer space for fluid and an application element adjacent to the buffer space and rigidly accommodated in the mouthpiece for applying liquid to a surface.
- the needles are moved relative to the membrane and the membrane is pierced thereby, so that fluid can get from the fluid container to the buffer space.
- the needles pull back and the membrane closes the fluid container again.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a generic application device with improved handling and application quality.
- the application device enables the valve device to not be actuated by exerting pressure on the application element and thus prevents damage to the application element and thus the quality of the application does not deteriorate with increasing time.
- no separate actuating element which usually leads to contamination, is necessary to open the valve device.
- the valve device can even be operated while the application medium is being applied.
- even application medium can be metered to the application element during handling.
- soft tips e.g. B. brush tips can be used.
- the valve device also serves to allow or block the application medium from flowing from the reservoir through the valve device to the application element.
- the functional element has an internal longitudinal channel.
- application medium may or may not run exclusively through the functional element to the application element, so that an optimal flow of the application medium to the application element is ensured.
- the functional element has at least one wall passage located therein, wherein the wall passage can be closed by the surrounding parts of the valve device if the functional element is in a suitable axial position. When open, the wall outlet is connected to the inlet from the reservoir.
- a surface seal between the aforementioned components is realized via the components of the valve device surrounding the functional element, and application medium cannot flow forward.
- the wall passage can be closed with a suitable axial position of the functional element, this takes place through the surrounding parts of the valve device d. H. in the area of the surface seal.
- the functional element can comprise a preferably annular and / or oblique circumferential sealing surface which, depending on the position of the functional element, prevents or enables application medium to flow from an inflow area from the reservoir to the application element or to the wall passage.
- the feed can also be finely metered.
- the handle and the functional element can be moved together by one stroke to the reservoir, the operator has a direct influence on the position of the functional element via the handle, which enables a particularly precise, externally controlled metering of the application medium.
- the handle is fully provided on the applicator.
- a complete handle has the advantage that the handle with every rotational position of the applicator can be operated in the same way.
- the handle can also be operated with more than one finger.
- the mouthpiece itself is provided as a handle. In addition to simple operation, this enables a particularly simple construction.
- the mouthpiece engages concentrically on the outside of an extension of the reservoir and is displaceable along the extension.
- Means are also provided for limiting the movement of the mouthpiece towards the extension. This ensures particularly good guidance of the mouthpiece when it is actuated.
- the valve device and the functional element can be fastened in a simple manner within the extension or tightly connected to the latter or the reservoir, e.g. B. be pressed.
- the reservoir and the valve device can be designed as a manageable assembly. B. in filled form as a replacement cartridge.
- At the extension of the reservoir at least one outward projection preferably a plurality of projections is provided which engages or engage in the inner wall of the mouthpiece or engage or engage or engage in a recess there, which allows a displacement path.
- a solution also allows the mouthpiece to be snapped onto the extension of the reservoir in a simple manner. This enables particularly simple assembly.
- the valve device can comprise a first valve element, in particular in the form of a so-called valve cover, which defines a through opening which forms a longitudinal guide for the functional element.
- a first valve element in particular in the form of a so-called valve cover, which defines a through opening which forms a longitudinal guide for the functional element.
- valve device can also comprise a second valve element, in particular in the form of a so-called valve cage, which has at least one opening towards the reservoir. This opening serves as a passage opening for application medium from the reservoir into the spreading space on the valve device.
- the two valve elements together form a receiving space for the movable functional element.
- the second valve element can have a central through opening for guiding the end region of the functional element opposite the application element.
- the application element can be rigidly fixed to the application device or to the mouthpiece.
- handle and functional element or part of the functional element can be made in one piece or in one piece, for. B. in the form of an injection molded part.
- the position of the functional element is preferably in the closed position by an elastic element, for. B. biased a compression spring.
- the reference number 1 in Fig. 1a shows a first embodiment of an application device according to the present invention.
- the application device 1 comprises a reservoir 2, which has a receiving space for a flowable application medium, such as. B. ink or the like.
- the end of the reservoir is closed with a cap 3.
- the cap 3 is in the Fig. 1a shown example integrally formed with the reservoir.
- the reservoir 2 has an extension 21, the one Valve device 5 houses.
- the valve device 5 is inserted at the end into the opening on the extension 21 and connected to the latter, for. B. pressed.
- the reservoir and the valve device can thus be designed as a manageable assembly, if necessary. B. in the form of a replacement cartridge filled with application medium.
- a mouthpiece 4 On the outside of the extension 21 there is a mouthpiece 4 which engages around the extension 21 and accommodates an application element 6 on the front.
- a capillary application element 6 is provided in the front area of the mouthpiece 4, which is soaked in operation with the liquid application medium and serves to apply the liquid application medium to an in Fig. 1 to apply surface, not shown.
- the application element 6 can be rigidly fastened in the mouthpiece 4, ie it cannot be arranged axially displaceably relative to the mouthpiece 4.
- the applicator element can be accommodated directly in position, for example glued, in the mouthpiece 4.
- the application element 6 can preferably be either hard material or soft material.
- a soft application element 6 can be used to make a kind of "brush stroke marking".
- a storage space 28 for liquid application medium is provided around the inside end of application element 6, into which the inside end of application element 6 is immersed and which should always be filled with liquid application medium during use.
- the applicator 1 can thus on its front side in the area of the mouthpiece 4 via a (in Fig. 1 cap (not shown) can be closed when not in use.
- the mouthpiece 4 is in the Fig. 1a Embodiment shown via a power transmission element 10 with a functional element 7 or shut-off element in the form of a tappet in connection with the valve device 5, so that when the mouthpiece 4 is moved towards the reservoir 2, the functional element 7 within the valve device 5 is shifted accordingly.
- the mouthpiece 4 can be moved by a stroke 13.
- the depression may e.g. B. can be realized by an inside projection on the open end region of the mouthpiece 4.
- a kind of snap connection can be made between the mouthpiece and the extension, in which the mouthpiece 4 is snapped onto the extension 21 and is then held there displaceably.
- the valve device 5 is provided for metering or "pumping" liquid application medium from the reservoir 2 forward to the application element 6 by moving the functional element 7 or shut-off element back and forth. This enables the supply of liquid application medium from the reservoir 2 to the application element 2 and the valve device 5 is then closed again.
- the valve device 5 comprises a first valve element 5a or also called “valve cover”, which has a diameter matched to the outer diameter of the functional element 7, so that the functional element 7 can be displaced relative to the first valve element 5a. Furthermore, a second valve element 5b or also called “valve cage” is provided, which forms the actual interior and houses the functional element 7 and a spring 8. The spring 8 engages on a collar on the functional element 7, is supported on the upper end of the second valve element and is used to bias the functional element 7 in the direction of the application element 6.
- Openings 5c are also provided in the second valve element 5b, which allow an inflow of liquid application medium from the reservoir 2 into a space inside the valve device 5. Furthermore, an upper-side through opening 5d is provided, through which the upper-side end of the functional element 7 runs and thus the upper-side guidance of the same is caused.
- the functional element 7 has an inner longitudinal channel 17, also called a “soul”, which is open at the end facing the application element 6.
- the longitudinal channel 17 serves to allow the flow of liquid application medium from the space inside the valve device 5 to the storage space 28 exclusively via the longitudinal channel 17.
- valve device In the in Fig. 1a shown position of the mouthpiece 4, the valve device is closed.
- the first valve element 5a forms, together with the functional element 7, a surface seal in the circumferential contact area. No liquid application medium can flow through the wall passage 9.
- a circumferential inclined surface of the functional element 7 bears against a circumferential edge or inclined surface on the first valve element 5a, thus also forming a seal and thereby avoiding that liquid application medium can flow out of the interior of the valve device 5.
- the force transmission element 10 of the mouthpiece 4 has a conically shaped recess 11, through which liquid application medium can flow and which forms a receptacle for the end region of the functional element 7.
- a non-positive connection between the force transmission element 10 and the functional element 7 can be provided, or the force transmission element 10 only serves as a stop for the functional element 7, so that the latter is always pressed against the force transmission element 10 by the force of the spring 8.
- the valve device 5 is provided to meter or "pump" liquid application medium from the reservoir 2 forward to the application element 6 by moving the functional element 7 back and forth. In the open position, the supply of liquid application medium from the reservoir 1 to the application element 2 is made possible. The valve device 5 can then be closed again.
- the dosage can advantageously take place while the applicator 1 is in use, e.g. B. with two or three fingers of the applicator 1 holding hand. It can even be dosed while liquid application medium is being applied.
- the design of the invention according to Fig. 2a differs from the according Fig. 1a only in that the transmission element 10 of the mouthpiece 4 is T-shaped and forms a channel that extends the longitudinal channel 17 of the functional element 7. Mouthpiece 4 and functional element 7 thus form a common central passage for liquid application medium.

Description
The present invention relates to an applicator for applying a liquid or pasty application medium, for. B. an ink or other pigmented fluid on a surface.
The application devices of particular interest here are those which have a valve device which can be operated by a user and which is located between a reservoir for the liquid application medium and a capillary application element at the tip of the application device. Corresponding applicators are also called "valve markers". They usually contain liquid application medium with a comparatively high proportion of pigments, ie heavily pigmented inks. For this reason, there are mixing bodies (eg balls) loosely contained within the reservoir, which cause the liquid application medium to be mixed in the reservoir by shaking the application device. In order to convey liquid application medium from the reservoir to the application element, the valve device in such application devices is usually actuated several times by the user. This "pumping" allows liquid application medium to be fed from the reservoir to the application element. Such application devices are used primarily for applying lacquer to surfaces for decoration, marking and / or repair purposes. Such application devices can also be used in the field of cosmetics or medicine. Ideally, when using the capillary application element, there should only be enough liquid application medium to ensure a continuous, even application. Accordingly, the applicator should not spill during the application or there should be no sudden interruption of the application of liquid medium. Valve markers usually contain a solid portion or pigment portion in the liquid Application medium of approx. 5 to 30% by weight. However, inks of this type can also be used without dye-based pigments.

The object of the present invention is to provide a generic application device with improved handling and application quality.
The above object is achieved by the features of
The application device according to the invention enables the valve device to not be actuated by exerting pressure on the application element and thus prevents damage to the application element and thus the quality of the application does not deteriorate with increasing time. In addition, no separate actuating element, which usually leads to contamination, is necessary to open the valve device. One-handed operation is possible. In addition, the valve device can even be operated while the application medium is being applied. Finally, even application medium can be metered to the application element during handling. Furthermore, soft tips, e.g. B. brush tips can be used. The valve device also serves to allow or block the application medium from flowing from the reservoir through the valve device to the application element.
The functional element has an internal longitudinal channel. Depending on the position of the functional element, application medium may or may not run exclusively through the functional element to the application element, so that an optimal flow of the application medium to the application element is ensured.
The functional element has at least one wall passage located therein, wherein the wall passage can be closed by the surrounding parts of the valve device if the functional element is in a suitable axial position. When open, the wall outlet is connected to the inlet from the reservoir.
In a preferred embodiment, at least in the closed position of the valve device, a surface seal between the aforementioned components is realized via the components of the valve device surrounding the functional element, and application medium cannot flow forward.
If the wall passage can be closed with a suitable axial position of the functional element, this takes place through the surrounding parts of the valve device d. H. in the area of the surface seal.
Furthermore, the functional element can comprise a preferably annular and / or oblique circumferential sealing surface which, depending on the position of the functional element, prevents or enables application medium to flow from an inflow area from the reservoir to the application element or to the wall passage. Depending on the position of the functional element, the feed can also be finely metered.
Because the handle and the functional element can be moved together by one stroke to the reservoir, the operator has a direct influence on the position of the functional element via the handle, which enables a particularly precise, externally controlled metering of the application medium.
The handle is fully provided on the applicator. A complete handle has the advantage that the handle with every rotational position of the applicator can be operated in the same way. The handle can also be operated with more than one finger.
According to the invention, the mouthpiece itself is provided as a handle. In addition to simple operation, this enables a particularly simple construction.
According to the invention, the mouthpiece engages concentrically on the outside of an extension of the reservoir and is displaceable along the extension. Means are also provided for limiting the movement of the mouthpiece towards the extension. This ensures particularly good guidance of the mouthpiece when it is actuated. Furthermore, the valve device and the functional element can be fastened in a simple manner within the extension or tightly connected to the latter or the reservoir, e.g. B. be pressed. The reservoir and the valve device can be designed as a manageable assembly. B. in filled form as a replacement cartridge.
As a means for limiting the displacement movement according to the invention, for. B. at the extension of the reservoir at least one outward projection preferably a plurality of projections is provided which engages or engage in the inner wall of the mouthpiece or engage or engage or engage in a recess there, which allows a displacement path. Such a solution also allows the mouthpiece to be snapped onto the extension of the reservoir in a simple manner. This enables particularly simple assembly.
The valve device can comprise a first valve element, in particular in the form of a so-called valve cover, which defines a through opening which forms a longitudinal guide for the functional element. As a result, the functional element together with the first valve element can form a surface seal in the circumferential contact area.
Furthermore, the valve device can also comprise a second valve element, in particular in the form of a so-called valve cage, which has at least one opening towards the reservoir. This opening serves as a passage opening for application medium from the reservoir into the spreading space on the valve device. The two valve elements together form a receiving space for the movable functional element. Furthermore, the second valve element can have a central through opening for guiding the end region of the functional element opposite the application element.
Since the valve device is actuated via a handle located on the application device, the application element can be rigidly fixed to the application device or to the mouthpiece.
The fact that an opening is provided in the mouthpiece, through which the handle extends and which is designed such that the functional element can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the applicator within the opening by actuating the handle, makes it easy to implement a construction from the outside user-friendly, permanently installed handle.
In particular, handle and functional element or part of the functional element can be made in one piece or in one piece, for. B. in the form of an injection molded part.
The position of the functional element is preferably in the closed position by an elastic element, for. B. biased a compression spring.

The
The
