Description
- The present invention relates to a household appliance having a front display panel secured to a display slot with an improved structure.
- Front faces of household appliances usually comprise a control and information panel in the upper portion thereof; such an information panel typically enabling the user set different operation modes and get informed of the current operational status of the appliance. Such an information display and operation control panel may involve illuminating elements placed behind transparent textual indications for visually indicating operational status of the household appliance. An electronic touch panel can be employed in higher-end products.
- An electronic display panel fixedly mounted into a respective slot on the front side sheet of the household appliance such as a refrigerator is usually insulated and surrounded by an insulation material such as polyurethane. The rear side of the display panel placed into the display slot is generally covered by an aluminum foil and insulation material is applied over the aluminum foil. To this end, although the display panel is fixed and insulated in an appropriate manner, it might happen that the front sheet of the household appliance features noticeable surface irregularities or unevenness in the sheet surrounding the display panel. This is primarily caused by the insulation material that fills into the openings around the display panel conductors and reaches under the aluminum foil. As the polyurethane trapped under the aluminum foil hardens, deforms and expands, creates tensions on the front sheet. These surface irregularities and local unevenness creates a notably visible manufacturing quality problem in high-end products and should as such be addressed in an effective manner.
