- Method for putting in place at least one reinforcement (2, 2') at a given location of a cut-out (5) made of cardboard or corrugated cardboard sheet suitable for forming a package (B) provided with walls of a given height, the reinforcement originating from a panel (3, 3') made of cardboard or corrugated cardboard, characterised in that, the reinforcement having a length equal to said given height,
the panel is extracted from a magazine (4) by gripping it by suction with the aid of unstacking means (11) comprising a longitudinal structure (13), arranged to be placed above the panel thus gripped in the direction of the length of the panel,
the panel (3, 3') is transferred horizontally above a gauge (18) for forming said panel,
the panel is compressed between the gauge (18) and said longitudinal structure (13), which have at least partly complementary shapes, in order to confer on the panel a hollow pillar shape over part of the panel and to form horizontal longitudinal lateral edges (33, 33'),

- Device according to one of claims 9 and 10, characterised in that it comprises two gripping means, two forming gauges (18), two transfer and gluing means (21) and two means (22) for pressing two panels (3, 3') in order to form two reinforcements (2, 2') on two opposed walls of the package.
- Device according to claim 11, characterised in that it comprises two magazines (93) for supplying two different panels situated close to each other.
- Device according to claim 11, characterised in that it comprises two different supply magazines (76) situated on either side of the cut-out.
- Device according to claim 13, characterised in that it comprises a single magazine (93) of divisible basic panels, and means (28) for separating the basic panel into two panels, before transfer of the two said panels above their respective gauge.
- Device according to any one of claims 9 to 14, characterised in that, the cut-out being formed by a series of at least four sections (6) ending on one side in a series of flaps,
the device comprises means (36) for arranging the cut-out flat and applying said reinforcements horizontally to said cut-out. - Device according to any one of claims 9 to 14, characterised in that, the cut-out being preformed as a case (92) which is open at the top and having at least four vertical walls (6), the device comprises means (94) for vertically tilting the reinforcements, introducing them into the package and applying them laterally to two opposed vertical walls of the package.
