Zunehmende Tragfähigkeitsanforderungen der Stößel, hervorgerufen bspw. durch Drehzahl- und Einspritzdrucksteigerungen, erfordern deren robustere Auslegung, welcher jedoch Bauraumgrenzen entgegenstehen. So ist zu erkennen, dass eine vergleichsweise kleine Rolle mit einer somit nur begrenzten Belastbarkeit verbaut ist. Bei einer Vergrößerung eines Radius der Rolle würde diese einfach gesagt mit ihren zwei Ringkanten am Innenmantel des Gehäuses anlaufen. Bei einer Erhöhung eines Radius des Stößels zur Unterbringung der vergrößerten Rolle müsste zwangsläufig dessen pumpenseitige Führung vergrößert werden, was enorme Änderungen an bereits fertigen Pumpendesigns zur Folge hätte. Es ist Aufgabe der Erfindung, einen Stößel zu schaffen, der bei kompakten Abmessungen stärker belastbar ist. Erfindungsgemäß wird diese Aufgabe dadurch gelöst, dass der Innenmantel des Gehäuses, ausgehend von dessen erster in Richtung zur zweiten Ringstirn sowie zumindest in dessen einen Außenmantel der Rolle umfassenden jeweiligen Umfangsabschnitt, eine geringfügig unterhalb einer halben Höhe der Rolle auslaufende, taschenartige Materialverdünnung hat, in oder an welche die Rolle mit ihren Ringkanten ragt. Fertigungstechnisch zweckmäßiger ist es jedoch, die Materialfreistellung als umlaufenden Ring darzustellen, so dass das Gehäuse einfach tiefgezogen oder fließgepresst werden kann. Alternativ zu den letztgenannten Maßnahmen kommen auch ein spanender Prozess oder eine MIM-Darstellung infrage. Durch die als Umlaufring vorgeschlagene Materialverdünnung ist das Gehäuse am Innenmantel lediglich zweigestuft und hat somit eine simple Gestaltung.
