- the open cam 170 connected to the pressurizing unit 160 through the rotation unit 150 is disposed at a position for guiding movements of the cam follower 33
- the cam follower 33 slides along one surface of the open cam 170. During this sliding, the cam follower 33 pushes the open cam 170 to a direction spacing from the breech block 30. As a result, the rotation unit 150 rotates, and the pressurizing unit 160 moves to a direction approaching to the breech block 30 thus to pressurize the first plunger 130.
- the pressurizing unit 160 is pressurized by the first elastic member 140 thus to return to a position for guiding movements of the cam follower 33.
- the open cam 170 is disposed at a position for guiding movements of the cam follower 33. Accordingly, the breech block 30 is open or closed as the cannon barrel 20 backward and forward moves according to a firing state.
- the pressurizing unit 160 pressurizes the first plunger 130, and the second plunger 180 is inserted into a space formed by movements of the pressurizing unit 160 so as to support the pressurizing unit 160.
- the rotation unit 150 rotates centering around the rotation shaft 151.
- the open cam 170 connected to the rotation unit 150 maintains a second state which is out of the range of a moving path of the cam follower 33.
- the open cam 170 does not come in contact with the cam follower 33. Accordingly, the breech block 30 is not open after firing, but maintains a closed state.
- a user may move the open cam 170 to a direction spacing from the breeching mechanism 30 with using a handgrip 171 of the open cam 170. Then, the user may insert the second plunger 180 into a space formed by movements of the pressurizing unit 160.
- This mode conversion of the breech block 30 into a closed mode may be used to prevent harmful gas from the cannon barrel 20 from being introduced to a user at the time of chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) warfare.
- CBR chemical, biological and radiological
- the current state of the breech block 30 may be converted into the first state. More concretely, once the open cam 170 has moved to be spacing from the cam follower 33, the pressurizing unit 160 connected to the open cam 170 through the rotation unit 150 more pressurizes the first plunge. Once the second plunge has been separated from the pressurizing unit 160, it returns to the initial position by the second elastic member 190 thus to be out of the range of a moving path of the pressurizing unit 160. As a result, the pressurizing unit 160 is pressurized by the first elastic member 140 thus to be restored to the initial position. That is, a mode of the apparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block is converted into an open mode of the breech block 30.
- a user may convert a current mode of the breech block 30 to an open mode from a closed mode, through simple manipulations, i.e., by moving the open cam 170.
- the second plunger in a state that the open cam is out of the range of a moving path of the cam follower so as to restrict rotation of the cam follower, the second plunger is inserted into the housing so as to support the pressurizing unit. This may allow a closed state of the breech block to be maintained after firing.
- a closed mode of the breech block may be converted into an open mode, through simple manipulations, e.g., by rotating the rotation unit, i.e., by moving the pressurizing unit.

breech block 30 is open and closed by interworking between thecam follower 33 and theopen cam 170. Hereinafter, will be explained a structure of theapparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block, and a mechanism for opening and closing thebreech block 30 by theapparatus 100. -
FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating theapparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block according to a first embodiment of the present invention, andFIG. 4 is a front view of theapparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block ofFIG. 3 . - Referring to
FIGS. 3 and4 , theapparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block comprises acam follower 33, ahousing 120, afirst plunger 130, asecond plunger 180, arotation unit 150, a pressurizingunit 160, anopen cam 170 and a firstelastic member 140. - As aforementioned, the
cam follower 33 is connected to thebreech block 30 through the breech crank 31, and rotates so as to open and close thebreech block 30. - The
bracket 110 is disposed to be spacing from thebreech ring 40. One end of thebracket 110 may be fixed to thecannon holder 50. While thecannon barrel 20 backward and forward moves according to a firing state, thecam follower 33 and thebracket 110 may perform a relative motion with respect to each other. - The
housing 120 and therotation unit 150 are coupled to thebracket 110. Thehousing 120 may be integrally formed with thebracket 110. - The first plunger 130 (refer to
FIG. 5 ) is installed in thehousing 120 so as to be moveable in one direction. A moving direction of thefirst plunger 130 may be perpendicular to thebracket 110, for instance. - The
rotation unit 150 is rotatably mounted to thebracket 110 so as to be rotatable centering around arotation shaft 151. Therotation shaft 151 of therotation unit 150 may be disposed in parallel with thebracket 110. Therotation unit 150 may rotate such that one end thereof approaches to or is spacing from thebreech block 30. Therotation unit 150 may be inserted into a space formed as part of thebracket 110 is cut. The pressurizingunit 160 is coupled to one end of therotation unit 150, and theopen cam 170 may be mounted to another end of therotation unit 150. - The pressurizing
unit 160 is inserted into thehousing 120, and is configured to pressurize thefirst plunger 130 when therotation unit 150 rotates. Therotation shaft 151 of therotation unit 150 is perpendicular to a moving direction of thefirst plunger 130 such that a pressurizing direction of the pressurizingunit 160 is parallel to the moving direction of thefirst plunger 130. - The
open cam 170 may be configured such that thecam follower 33 slides along one surface of theopen cam 170 when thecannon barrel 20 backward moves, and such that thecam follower 33 rotates with sliding along one surface of theopen cam 170 with contacting theopen cam 170 when thecannon barrel 20 forward moves. - The
open cam 170 is configured to be moveable between a first state (open mode of the breech block 30) for guiding rotation of thecam follower 33 by rotation of therotation unit 150, and a second state (closed mode of the breech block 30) which is out of the range of a moving path of thecam follower 33. - The first elastic member 140 (refer to
FIG. 5 ) is installed in thehousing 120, and pressurizes thefirst plunger 130 such that a restoration force is applied to thepressurizing unit 160. One end of the firstelastic member 140 is supported by thehousing 120, and another end thereof is supported by thefirst plunger 130. The firstelastic member 140 may be formed of a spring, an elastic rubber, a sponge, etc. - The
second plunger 180 may be moveably mounted to thehousing 120, and may be inserted into a space formed by movements of the pressurizingunit 160 such that the pressurizingunit 160 is supported in the second state. Thesecond plunger 180 may be disposed such that a moving direction thereof is perpendicular to a moving direction of thefirst plunger 130. - A second
elastic member 190 for providing an elastic force to thesecond plunger 180 may be mounted to thehousing 120. One end of the secondelastic member 190 is supported by thehousing 120, and another end thereof is supported by thesecond plunger 180. The secondelastic member 190 may be formed of a spring, an elastic rubber, a sponge, etc. -
FIG. 5 is a sectional view of theapparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block taken along line 'A-A' when thebreech block 30 is in an open mode, andFIG. 6 is a sectional view of theapparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block taken along line 'A-A' when thebreech block 30 is in a closed mode. - Referring to
FIGS. 5 and 6 , a plurality ofguide portions 121 may be formed in thehousing 120 so as to be protruding toward the center of an inner space of thehousing 120. Theguide portions 121 serve to guide movements of thefirst plunger 130, and to minimize frictions occurring when thefirst plunger 130 moves. - One surface of the
first plunger 130 pressurized by the pressurizingunit 160 may have a hemispherical shape. If one surface of thefirst plunger 130 has a hemispherical shape, the pressurizingunit 160 comes in point-contact with thefirst plunger 130. This may minimize frictions between thefirst plunger 130 and the pressurizingunit 160. - A stopping
recess 161 may be formed at the pressurizingunit 160, and a stoppingprotrusion 181 inserted into the stoppingrecess 161 may be formed at one end of thesecond plunger 180. As the stoppingprotrusion 181 is inserted into the stoppingrecess 161, thesecond plunger 180 may fix thepressurizing unit 160 more stably. - A
protrusion 182 may be formed at thesecond plunger 180. When theprotrusion 182 moves to one direction thus to come in contact with thehousing 120, the stoppingprotrusion 181 may be inserted into the stoppingrecess 161. Accordingly, a user may press thesecond plunger 180 until thesecond plunger 180 comes in contact with thehousing 120 such that the stoppingprotrusion 181 is precisely inserted into the stoppingrecess 161. One end of the secondelastic member 190 may be supported by theprotrusion 182, and another end thereof may be supported by thehousing 120 or a recess of thehousing 120. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , the pressurizingunit 160 is pressurized by the firstelastic member 140 for providing an elastic force to thefirst plunger 130, thereby contacting one surface of thehousing 120. When thecannon barrel 20 forward moves, theopen cam 170 connected to thepressurizing unit 160 through therotation unit 150 is disposed at a position for guiding movements of thecam follower 33 - When the
cannon barrel 20 backward moves after firing, thecam follower 33 slides along one surface of theopen cam 170. During this sliding, thecam follower 33 pushes theopen cam 170 to a direction spacing from thebreech block 30. As a result, therotation unit 150 rotates, and the pressurizingunit 160 moves to a direction approaching to thebreech block 30 thus to pressurize thefirst plunger 130. - Once the
cam follower 33 has passed theopen cam 170, the pressurizingunit 160 is pressurized by the firstelastic member 140 thus to return to a position for guiding movements of thecam follower 33. - While the
cannon barrel 20 forward moves, thecam follower 33 rotates with sliding-contacting theopen cam 170. As a result, the breech crank rotates together with thecam follower 33, and thebreech block 30 connected to the breech crank is open. - As aforementioned, when the
breech block 30 is in an open mode, theopen cam 170 is disposed at a position for guiding movements of thecam follower 33. Accordingly, thebreech block 30 is open or closed as thecannon barrel 20 backward and forward moves according to a firing state. - Referring to
FIG. 6 , the pressurizingunit 160 pressurizes thefirst plunger 130, and thesecond plunger 180 is inserted into a space formed by movements of the pressurizingunit 160 so as to support the pressurizingunit 160. - Since the pressurizing
unit 160 is fixed after moving by thesecond plunger 180, therotation unit 150 rotates centering around therotation shaft 151. Theopen cam 170 connected to therotation unit 150 maintains a second state which is out of the range of a moving path of thecam follower 33. - Even if the
cannon barrel 20 backward and forward moves in the second state, theopen cam 170 does not come in contact with thecam follower 33. Accordingly, thebreech block 30 is not open after firing, but maintains a closed state. - In order to maintain a second state (closed mode of the breech block 30) after firing, a user may move the
open cam 170 to a direction spacing from thebreeching mechanism 30 with using ahandgrip 171 of theopen cam 170. Then, the user may insert thesecond plunger 180 into a space formed by movements of the pressurizingunit 160. This mode conversion of thebreech block 30 into a closed mode may be used to prevent harmful gas from thecannon barrel 20 from being introduced to a user at the time of chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) warfare. - Once the
open cam 170 has moved to a direction spacing from thebreech block 30 in the second state, the current state of thebreech block 30 may be converted into the first state. More concretely, once theopen cam 170 has moved to be spacing from thecam follower 33, the pressurizingunit 160 connected to theopen cam 170 through therotation unit 150 more pressurizes the first plunge. Once the second plunge has been separated from the pressurizingunit 160, it returns to the initial position by the secondelastic member 190 thus to be out of the range of a moving path of the pressurizingunit 160. As a result, the pressurizingunit 160 is pressurized by the firstelastic member 140 thus to be restored to the initial position. That is, a mode of theapparatus 100 for opening and closing a breech block is converted into an open mode of thebreech block 30. - Under this configuration, a user may convert a current mode of the
breech block 30 to an open mode from a closed mode, through simple manipulations, i.e., by moving theopen cam 170. - In the present invention, in a state that the open cam is out of the range of a moving path of the cam follower so as to restrict rotation of the cam follower, the second plunger is inserted into the housing so as to support the pressurizing unit. This may allow a closed state of the breech block to be maintained after firing.
- In the present invention, a closed mode of the breech block may be converted into an open mode, through simple manipulations, e.g., by rotating the rotation unit, i.e., by moving the pressurizing unit.
