Definitions
- the present invention relates to a lubrication system of a heat engine, and a motor and a motor vehicle comprising such a lubrication system.
- the thermal engines generally comprise an oil pump that rotates continuously, to supply pressurized oil to the crankshaft and various moving parts of the engine, in order to lubricate and cool the guide bearings of these elements.
- Control valves arranged in the oil circuit comprising pressure regulating valves which open under a defined pressure, allow to obtain a certain regulation of the fluid flow supplying the various components.
- a known type of oil pump presented in particular by the document EP-A1-1537335, comprises a variable displacement regulated by a piston, this displacement adjustment being adjusted according to different operating parameters of the engine, to reduce the mechanical power absorbed by the drive of this pump.
- Another known method for adjusting the oil flow of the piston cooling nozzles uses a solenoid valve controlled by a control current in order to deliver an oil pressure to these nozzles only if necessary. This method makes it possible to limit the flow of oil delivered by the pump, and to reduce its displacement at certain times in order to reduce the driving torque of the rotor of this pump.
- a problem with this method is that the engine oil circuit must be modified, and a solenoid valve comprising a power supply must be added, which entails costs.
- the present invention is intended in particular to avoid these disadvantages of the prior art, and to provide a simple and effective solution allowing cooling the pistons of a heat engine, while reducing the power absorbed by the oil pump.
- a lubrication system of a heat engine comprising an oil pump realizing different flow rates controlled by a control means comprising a map that according to the pressure and the oil temperature, and the speed of rotation of the engine , determines a target pressure and a flow rate of the pump to obtain it, this system also supplying cooling nozzles for the engine pistons, characterized in that the nozzle supply circuit comprises a regulating valve opening above a pressure threshold, and in that the mapping of the control means further takes into account the load of the engine, which in case of need for cooling of the engine pistons depending on this load, determines a target pressure greater than the threshold pressure of the valve, and the corresponding setting of the pump flow.
- An advantage of the lubrication system according to the invention is that it is possible with only an additional mechanical valve, if necessary to control a larger flow to obtain a higher pressure, in order to open the valve to obtain engine cooling, and the rest of the time will be satisfied with a lower flow rate depending on the other needs of the engine, in order to reduce the mechanical power absorbed by the pump.
- control method according to the invention can comprise one or more of the following characteristics, which can be combined with one another.
- the threshold pressure of the regulating valve is greater than the usual target pressure necessary for an engine at its normal operating temperature.
- the oil pump has a variable displacement to adjust its flow.
- variable displacement oil pump may comprise a rotor comprising radial vanes which slide outwards, to bear on the internal surface of a stator.
- the stator can move to adjust the displacement of the oil pump by means of an oil pressure acting on a piston surface.
- the oil pressure can be controlled by a solenoid valve controlled by the control means.
- control means is integrated in the control computer of the heat engine.
- the subject of the invention is also a heat engine comprising a lubrication system comprising a variable flow oil pump, controlled by a control means having a mapping which, according to the pressure and the oil temperature, and the speed of the engine. rotation of the motor, determines a target pressure and a flow rate of the pump to obtain it, this system also supplying cooling nozzles for the engine pistons, characterized in that the nozzle supply circuit comprises a regulating valve opening above a pressure threshold, which is greater than the usual target pressure required for an engine at its normal operating temperature.
- the invention also relates to a motor vehicle having a heat engine comprising a lubrication system, which comprises any one of the preceding features.
- Figure 1 shows a heat engine 1 comprising a motor unit 2 receiving the cylinders, below which is an oil sump 4 containing the lubricating oil.
- An oil pump 6 which is variable displacement, sucks by a suction screen 8 the oil contained in the housing 4.
- the pressurized oil then passes into an oil filter 10 to be purified, then is distributed in various pipes.
- a first pipe 12 supplies the engine block
- a second pipe 16 feeds the cylinder head 18, to lubricate the bearings of the camshaft and the thrusters of the valves.
- a control computer 20 of the oil pump 6 controls by an actuator the adjustment of the displacement of this pump.
- the control computer 20 of the oil pump 6 is integrated in the control computer of the engine 1 which controls the ignition and fuel injection of the engine, which reduces costs.
- the variable displacement oil pump 6 may comprise in particular a rotor comprising radial vanes which slide outwardly to bear on the cylindrical inner surface of a circular stator, comprising an axis offset from that of the rotor so as to obtain on a revolution of this rotor, a variation of the volume of each chamber located between two pallets.
- a simple means of controlling the displacement of the pump is to move the stator to move away or closer to its center of the axis of the rotor, so as to respectively increase or reduce the displacement.
- the adjustment of the oil pump 6 can be carried out according to various known methods, for example by the control by means of a solenoid valve, an oil pressure acting in a chamber or on a piston control, to move the stator and reduce the displacement.
- the control computer 20 of the oil pump 6 comprises, in a known manner, a mapping which, according to the actual pressure and the oil temperature, and the rotation speed of the motor measured permanently, determines a target pressure as well as a pump flow to get it.
- control computer 20 regulates, by its actuator, the displacement of the pump 6 so as to reach this target pressure, by increasing or reducing this displacement in the case where the pressure is respectively too weak or too strong.
- the opening threshold pressure of the valve 22 is greater than the usual target pressure necessary for an engine at its normal operating temperature, so as to leave this valve closed and do not cool the pistons unnecessarily, which makes it possible to obtain a rather high temperature favoring a better combustion.
- the method according to the invention implemented by the control computer 20, also takes into account information on the engine load delivered by the engine computer, to establish a need for additional cooling of the pistons in case of heavy load.
- the displacement of the pump 6 may remain lower so as to maintain a lower pressure which allows the regulating valve 22 to close.
- the lower cylinder capacity and the absence of loss of a volume of oil through the cooling nozzles 26, allow to limit the driving torque of the pump 6.
