Description
The present invention relates to the use as a cleaning agent of a combination of a mixture of C 16 -C 20 fatty acid methyl esters of castor oil with at least one ethoxylated glyceride, as well as compositions comprising such an association.
The products commonly used to clean grease stains, oils, inks or petroleum derivatives are often based on hydrocarbons that are prepared from petroleum or are highly alkaline.
Due to the negative impact of these products on the environment and on the health of people, more ecological products have been developed based on sunflower oil or soya. However, these products have the disadvantage of leaving a glossy and greasy film after use.
The inventors then surprisingly discovered that the castor oil C 16 -C 20 fatty acid methyl esters had a high solvent power while leaving after use a satin and dry film which also seems to play a protective role. , in particular by reducing the oxidation of the metal surfaces. The methyl esters of C 16 -C 20 fatty acids castor oil are moreover biodegradable and are therefore not harmful to the environment. Castor has the added benefit of growing on non-arable land.
The use of ethoxylated glycerides also makes it possible to obtain emulsifiable compositions and to increase the cleaning power of such a composition. Indeed, in addition to being an emulsifying agent, this type of nonionic surfactant has the advantage of being a very good anti-stain agent. It also has the properties of a non-foaming and / or viscosifying agent (i.e. increasing the viscosity of a composition).
Compositions comprising such a combination of C 16 -C 20 fatty acid methyl esters of castor oil and at least one ethoxylated glyceride have the additional advantage of having a neutral pH.
The present invention thus has as its first object the use as cleaning agent of a combination of a mixture of C 16 -C 20 fatty acid methyl esters of castor oil, for which the acids C 18 fatty acids represent at least 70% by weight of the total weight of the C 16 -C 20 fatty acid mixture of castor oil, with at least one ethoxylated glyceride.
The mixture of C 16 -C 20 fatty acid methyl esters of castor oil, for which the C 18 fatty acids represent at least 70% by weight of the total weight of the C 16 fatty acid mixture C 20 castor oil, is especially useful as cleaning and degreasing and ethoxylated glyceride is useful both as a cleaning agent and emulsifier. The compositions comprising such an association are therefore emulsifiable.

For the purposes of the present invention, the term "castor oil C 16 -C 20 fatty acids" means a mixture of fatty acids derived from castor oil comprising a saturated or unsaturated linear hydrocarbon-based chain, comprising 16 to 20 carbon atoms (including that of the terminal carboxylic acid function). These fatty acids therefore do not include ricinoleic acid which can not be considered as a fatty acid since it comprises a hydroxyl (OH) function on its side chain. They will also comprise mainly C 16 and C 18 fatty acids (at least 80%, preferably at least 90%, and more preferably at least 95% by weight relative to the fatty acid mixture). C 18 fatty acids will include more particularly stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid, and C 16 fatty acids will more particularly include palmitic acid. The C 18 fatty acids represent at least 70%, in particular at least 75%, and more particularly at least 80% by weight relative to the total weight of the castor oil C 16 -C 20 fatty acid mixture .

The present invention will be better understood in the light of the nonlimiting examples which follow.
- ■ Composition X consisting of pure sunflower oil, and
- ■ Composition Y: an emulsifiable composition based on sunflower oil (marketed under the name Neutralène ® 2006 E by TEC Industrie).
- ■ semi-synthetic oil marketed under the name Perfo 10 W 40 by Lubro,
- Molybdenum disulfide grease 104 sold by the company Lubro, and
- ■ Solvent a bitumen liquid emulsion marketed under the name Blacksol ® by the company Technical-Concrete.
A, B, C, X and Y were then applied by spraying, compositions A, B and X being used pure while emulsifiable compositions C and Y being used in diluted form in water at 30%.
After 5 to 10 minutes, the surface of the glass is wiped with a wiped wiping paper, then with a wiping paper impregnated with the composition in the case of bitumen.
L'aspect de la surface du verre a alors été observé juste après l'étape d'essuyage (T0) puis après 5 minutes (T5).The appearance of the glass surface was then observed just after the wiping step (T0) and then after 5 minutes (T5).
In the case of emulsifiable compositions C and Y, the surface of the glass was then rinsed with water and then dried with wiping paper.
L'aspect de la surface du verre a alors été observé (TR).The appearance of the glass surface was then observed (TR).
Compositions A and X, and C and Y were compared with one another because of their similarity of formulation. It is thus found that the compositions based on a mixture of castor oil fatty acid esters have a better degreasing power than the compositions based on sunflower oil.
Three 5 x 10 cm steel plates were each dipped directly into the pure composition A, B or X and then drained. A fourth steel plate was not immersed in any composition to serve as a control.
The plates were then immersed in a 0.5% sulfuric acid solution for 24 hours.
Once removed from the acidic solution, the plates were allowed to air dry at room temperature for 1 hour.
- ■ Gaseous evolution is observed on the surface of the steel plate as soon as it is immersed in the acid solution for the control plate, after 30 minutes for the plate having been immersed in the composition B and after 1 hour for the plates having been immersed in composition A or X.
- With regard to the degree of oxidation, the control plate is completely oxidized (formation of iron oxide III orange-red), the plate having been immersed in the composition X is highly oxidized but has been partially protected compared to the control plate , and the plates having been immersed in the compositions A and B are little oxidized, only spaced and few oxidation pits being observed.
It is thus found that the presence of a mixture of castor oil fatty acid esters provides a better anti-corrosion protection than sunflower oil.
Compositions C and Y were diluted 30% with water and mixed to form an emulsion. The compositions were then left to stand.
It is then found that the emulsified composition X begins to shift after 15 minutes and is completely separated into two phases after 1 hour.
On the other hand, the emulsified composition C starts to shift out after 30 minutes and is still not separated into two phases after 1 week.
Several spots of 5 drops of each composition A or X were then deposited on the glass plate at regular intervals. Every minute, a spot of each composition (A and X) was wiped with a cloth so as to see if the paint had been solubilized at the location of the application of the composition.
It is then observed that the paint is completely solubilized after 5 minutes with the composition A whereas it is solubilized only after 11 minutes with the composition X.
A granular molded plastic surface is rubbed back and forth over an area of about 10 x 30 cm with a wiping paper soaked in composition A, B or X. It is allowed to stand for 30 minutes before observing. area.
It is found that the sunflower oil-based composition left a glossy and greasy film, while the composition based on a mixture of castor oil fatty acid esters left a satin film, dry and not fat.
The oily or non-greasy nature of the film was controlled by applying paper to the plastic surface and observing the formation or otherwise of a recognizable greasy work on the paper.
