Definitions
- the present invention relates to a parking guidance system for navigating a parking space-seeking vehicle to a free parking space according to claim 1, a detection unit according to claim 11 and a navigation unit according to claim 12.
- Modern inner-city parking guidance systems work according to a simple principle. If the number of parking spaces and the inflow and outflow of the vehicles are known, this can easily determine the availability of free parking. Signposting the access roads and dynamically updating the parking information allows vehicles to navigate to free parking. Due to the principle, however, this results in the following restrictions, namely that the parking areas must be clearly defined, and the entry and exit of the vehicles must always be precisely controlled. For this purpose, structural measures, such as barriers or the like, are required.
- the navigation of a vehicle to a parking lot is in the EP 1 365 213 A1 and the EP 1 070 635 A2
- the methods used are based solely on static information stored in the vehicle. A consideration of actually free parking spaces not done.
- the vehicle navigation of a vehicle to a free, centrally managed parking lot is in the KR20040102388 documented, where current information is exchanged between the vehicle and a central office.
- the DE 44 33 982 C1 known to transmit information about parking with the TMC channel (Traffic Message Channel) of the Radio Data System (RDS) of a car radio.
- TMC channel Traffic Message Channel
- RDS Radio Data System
- the search for free parking spaces is particularly time-consuming and thus unnecessarily harmful to the environment and burdens noise, especially in inner cities or densely populated areas with little available parking spaces, such as residential districts with pre-war development.
- the parking guidance system according to the invention for navigating a parking space-seeking vehicle to a free parking space with the detection and navigation unit provided for this purpose has the advantage that navigation of the parking space-seeking vehicle is possible in a simple and reliable manner to a parking lot freed only in a timely manner.
- this information about the free parking space is always determined dynamically and is therefore current. In particular, no restrictions or structural measures to determine the free parking are required.
- a detection unit and a navigation unit in the vehicles as part of the parking guidance system according to the invention can be based on previous navigation systems.
- the detection unit for a car park-exploring vehicle is provided as part of the parking guidance system and accomplishes reliably finding a vacant parking lot by means of a sensor and forwarding the information about a free parking lot to a communication device of a parking-looking vehicle or to a control center, for which the detection unit is a navigation system, a communication device and a processing device.
- a navigation unit is provided for a parking lot searching vehicle as part of the parking guidance system to reliably receive and process the information about the free parking lot from the detection unit of a parking lot exploring vehicle or the center, and then securely navigate the driver to the free parking space, for which Navigation unit comprises a navigation system, a communication device and a processing device.
- the information exchange can be initiated by the parking-space-seeking vehicle or by the control center, which initially collects the information of one or more parking-exploring vehicles and processes them for the parking-looking vehicles and then transmits them.
- the information transmission over a free parking lot of the car park Ausforschenden vehicle is provided with a timestamp, which is transmitted in addition to the transmission of the position data on the free parking, which determine when queried by the parking lot looking for the timeliness of the information about the free parking leaves.
- a good detection of free parking is available, if the useful for researching the free parking vehicles are equipped with at least one sensor for parking space detection.
- the at least one sensor can operate on an optical and / or non-optical basis.
- a reliable exchange of information can be accomplished if the direct exchange of information between the two vehicles takes place via an air interface, such as GSM, UMTS, WLAN or the like.
- a further improvement of the free parking space recognition is given when the information about free parking spaces are determined periodically.
- a further improvement can be achieved if the parking space-exploring vehicles are vehicles for local public transport, in particular regular buses, or taxi vehicles or the like.
- a further improvement can be achieved if in addition also ausparkende vehicles during or immediately after leaving their parking lot independently submit the information about the cleared parking lot to the parking-looking vehicle or to the control center for forwarding to the parking-looking vehicle.
- the parking guidance system for a parking lot search vehicle extends known parking guidance systems in that the navigation of vehicles to free parking spaces is done by other on-traffic vehicles providing the information on free parking lots.
- a parking guidance system is in Fig. 1 schematically shown in its two different embodiments, wherein the reference numeral 1 denotes a parking space-exploring vehicle and the reference numeral 2 a parking-looking vehicle.
- the parking space exploring vehicles 1 are equipped with a position determining device, such as a GPS (Global Positioning System) device or a navigation system 4, so as to be able to determine the location or position data of the free parking lot.
- a communication device 5 for example in the form of a transmitting and receiving unit, then the information is forwarded.
- the parking space exploring vehicles 1 combined with their navigation system 4 and the communication device 5 thus act as individual sensors 16, which free parking 8 in passing can recognize.
- a processing device 6 in the vehicle 1 controls this method and triggers the transmission of the position data by means of the communication device 5 when the free parking space 8 is detected.
- the functions of navigation system 4, communication device 5 and processing device 6 are preferably combined in a single unit or device, referred to below as a detection unit.
- the parking-space searching vehicles 2 also have a navigation system 4 ', a communication device 5' and a processing device 6 ', which are preferably likewise combined in a single unit or device referred to below as a navigation unit.
- the detection unit and the navigation unit in a vehicle may be functionally combined into a single unit. So this vehicle can serve as a sensor 16 for free parking while driving and forward this accordingly.
- this vehicle can serve as a sensor 16 for free parking while driving and forward this accordingly.
- the navigation unit query the information about free parking in the vicinity done, and then to be able to initiate the appropriate navigation to the free parking.
- Recognition of a free parking space 8 by means of the vehicle 1 passing by at the free parking space can take place via at least one sensor 16 on an optical basis, for example with a camera mounted on the vehicle 1, and / or non-optical base, for example by electromagnetic induction.
- This information can be processed in the processing device 6 and other vehicles 2 for car park navigation by means of an air interface, such as GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication as the standard for digital mobile communication), WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network: Wireless Radio Network, for example, IEEE 802.11g) or the like, transmit.
- GSM Global System for Mobile Communication as the standard for digital mobile communication
- WLAN Wireless Local Area Network: Wireless Radio Network, for example, IEEE 802.11g
- the vehicle 1 determines when driving by with his at least one sensor 16 right and possibly also left the free parking 8. This information is provided together with the current position with a time stamp.
- Another vehicle 2 can transmit this information directly via an in Fig.
- the parking-centered vehicle 1 drawn channel (a) from the parking-centered vehicle 1 or indirectly via a central station 3 via a channel (c) receive.
- the information of the parking-centered vehicle 1 is first transmitted via a channel (b) to the central office 3 and then via the further channel (c) to the parking-space searching vehicle 2.
- Fig. 2 is shown in a simplified representation of the process of direct communication between two vehicles in more detail.
- the parking lot exploring vehicle 1 determines the position and the current time to a vacant parking lot. This location and time information is then transmitted to the parking lot seeking vehicle 2. This transmission can be initiated by the parking space exploring vehicle 1 or explicitly requested by the parking space searching vehicle 2 (optional).
- the parking-looking vehicle 2 receives the location and time information, evaluates it and can be guided by its navigation system 4 'to the free parking lot. Traveling vehicles 1 thus determine by means of an automated method in passing the availability of free parking spaces or parking areas along the roadside and designated public parking lots. This procedure can For example, be controlled by the located in the vehicle 1 processing device 6.

- the central office 3 assumes the function of collecting the information about free parking spaces of different vehicles 1 and then making them available to others.
- the vehicle 1 first identifies the presence of a free parking space via its at least one sensor 16. In this case, the current position in the processing device 6 is noted and the current time deposited. This information is then transmitted by means of the communication device 5 of the center 3 see arrow 14. The initiation of this transmission can also take place spontaneously or, as indicated by arrow 15, by the control center 3 (optional) or by the vehicle 2 (optional), see arrow 11.
- a parking-looking vehicle 2 can inquire at the headquarters 3 (optional), see arrow 11, whether there is a free parking lot in its immediate vicinity.
- the central office 3 processes this request and then transmits the desired parking space information, see arrow 10, which in addition to the position coordinates also contains the actuality via the sent timestamp. Subsequently, this parking space information can be evaluated by the driver or his processing device 6 'and made available to the navigation system 4' or the navigation unit, which then initiates the navigation to the free parking space.
- the parking guidance system according to the invention is particularly suitable for inner cities, which have a large number of parking spaces at the roadside.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a parking guidance system for navigating a parking space-seeking vehicle to a free parking space according to claim 1, a detection unit according to
Modern inner-city parking guidance systems work according to a simple principle.
Due to the limitations described, navigation is only possible for a small number of free parking spaces. With the necessary structural measures thus usually only parking garages or fenced parking areas can be integrated into a parking guidance system. However, the far greater number of free parking spaces at the roadside or unchecked parking lots are not considered.
The search for free parking spaces is particularly time-consuming and thus unnecessarily harmful to the environment and burdens noise, especially in inner cities or densely populated areas with little available parking spaces, such as residential districts with pre-war development.
The parking guidance system according to the invention for navigating a parking space-seeking vehicle to a free parking space with the detection and navigation unit provided for this purpose has the advantage that navigation of the parking space-seeking vehicle is possible in a simple and reliable manner to a parking lot freed only in a timely manner. Advantageously, this information about the free parking space is always determined dynamically and is therefore current. In particular, no restrictions or structural measures to determine the free parking are required.
This allows a targeted and thus fast parking search. Unnecessary "drive around the block" in search of a free parking space is at least reduced or can even be completely avoided.
A detection unit and a navigation unit in the vehicles as part of the parking guidance system according to the invention can be based on previous navigation systems. Thus, the detection unit for a car park-exploring vehicle is provided as part of the parking guidance system and accomplishes reliably finding a vacant parking lot by means of a sensor and forwarding the information about a free parking lot to a communication device of a parking-looking vehicle or to a control center, for which the detection unit is a navigation system, a communication device and a processing device.
A navigation unit is provided for a parking lot searching vehicle as part of the parking guidance system to reliably receive and process the information about the free parking lot from the detection unit of a parking lot exploring vehicle or the center, and then securely navigate the driver to the free parking space, for which Navigation unit comprises a navigation system, a communication device and a processing device.
Further advantages and advantageous embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims and the description.
It is advantageous that variably the information exchange can be initiated by the parking-space-seeking vehicle or by the control center, which initially collects the information of one or more parking-exploring vehicles and processes them for the parking-looking vehicles and then transmits them.
It is advantageous that the information transmission over a free parking lot of the car park Ausforschenden vehicle is provided with a timestamp, which is transmitted in addition to the transmission of the position data on the free parking, which determine when queried by the parking lot looking for the timeliness of the information about the free parking leaves.
An advantageously simple method is given when the information is transmitted to the parking lot looking vehicles in a push or pull process.
A good detection of free parking is available, if the useful for researching the free parking vehicles are equipped with at least one sensor for parking space detection. Advantageously, the at least one sensor can operate on an optical and / or non-optical basis.
A reliable exchange of information can be accomplished if the direct exchange of information between the two vehicles takes place via an air interface, such as GSM, UMTS, WLAN or the like.
A further improvement of the free parking space recognition is given when the information about free parking spaces are determined periodically.
A further improvement can be achieved if the parking space-exploring vehicles are vehicles for local public transport, in particular regular buses, or taxi vehicles or the like.
A further improvement can be achieved if in addition also ausparkende vehicles during or immediately after leaving their parking lot independently submit the information about the cleared parking lot to the parking-looking vehicle or to the control center for forwarding to the parking-looking vehicle.

Of course, the detection unit and the navigation unit in a vehicle may be functionally combined into a single unit. So this vehicle can serve as a

In order to increase the quality of the actual possible parking areas, an additional comparison with road map data can take place, for example by comparison with the
With the help of the transmitted time stamp can be found by the parking-looking
The transmission of the parking space information can be carried out in addition to the explained direct communication between two
The method can be extended so that the parking space information is determined periodically via local public transport, for example by regular buses, or by taxi vehicles. This information can then be periodically transmitted to the
The parking guidance system according to the invention can be extended even further by parked vehicles, which are provided with a position determination system, in particular navigation system, when they leave their parking position without being asked to transmit this information to the

A parking-looking
The parking guidance system according to the invention is particularly suitable for inner cities, which have a large number of parking spaces at the roadside.
