Bekannte Weiterentwicklungen derartiger Profilwalzmaschinen verfügen über eine Führungsbahn, in welcher ein Schlitten mit der zweiten Profilwalzbacke zum Einwalzen des Profils in den Rohling geführt und hin und her verfahrbar ist. Der Schlitten wie auch die Führungsbahn sind dabei jeweils mit eigenen Gleitplatten, nachfolgend Schlittengleitplatten und Führungsgleitplatten genannt, ausgebildet, welche zusammen eine Gleitpaarung bilden. Schließlich sei herausgestellt, dass die erfindungsgemäß ausgebildete Gleitpaarung auch die Verwendung eines kombinierten Kühl- und Schmiermediums, d. h. eines Mediums, welches sowohl eine Kühlfunktion wie auch eine Schmierfunktion erfüllt, ermöglicht.
