  1.   2. An applicator according to the preceding claim, having spines (50) situated on the segment.
  3. An applicator according to either preceding claim, wherein the furrow presents a section, measured in a meridian plane of a longitudinal axis (24) of the core, that has a maximum dimension that varies, and that preferably decreases, on traveling along the segment towards a free end of the applicator.
  4. An applicator for applying a substance to the eyelashes and/or to the eyebrows that comprises a core (136; 336 - 536; 936) presenting at least one furrow (134; 334 - 534; 934) extending over at least a segment of the core from a first longitudinal end of the segment to a second longitudinal end of the segment and spines (50) situated outside the furrow, the spines being made integrally with the core and presenting free ends that form an envelope surface constituting a surface of revolution about a longitudinal axis of the core, the applicator being characterized in that the furrow presents a section, measured in a meridian plane of a longitudinal axis (24) of the core, that has a maximum dimension that varies, and that preferably decreases, on traveling along the segment towards a free end of the applicator, the applicator possibly including spines (50) situated in the furrow.
  5. An applicator according to the preceding claim, wherein the furrow is helical.
  6. An applicator according to any preceding claim, wherein the furrow extends along at least one segment of the core from a first longitudinal end of the segment to a second longitudinal end of the segment, and that includes spines (50) situated on the segment outside the furrow.
  7. An applicator according to any preceding claim, wherein the furrow (134) extends over more than one turn, indeed over more than two turns, around a longitudinal axis (24) of the applicator.
  8. An applicator according to any preceding claim, wherein the furrow (134) presents a profile that is V-shaped, and that is preferably asymmetrical.
  9. An applicator according to any preceding claim, wherein the furrow (134) is a single furrow.
  10. An applicator according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein the core presents a plurality of furrows.
  11. An applicator according to any one of claims 1, 2, and 6, wherein a transverse dimension (Da) of the segment decreases on traveling along the segment towards a free end of the applicator.
  12. An applicator according to any preceding claim, including an inlet cone (124), possibly provided with spines (50).
  13. An applicator according to any preceding claim, having spines (50) forming at least one rectilinear row parallel to a longitudinal direction of the core, and/or a row that is helical in shape.
  14. An applicator according to any preceding claim, having spines (50) disposed in such a manner that at least one transverse dimension of the applicator, as measured between the free ends (52) of the spines, is constant on traveling along at least a portion of the applicator in a longitudinal direction (24) of the core.
  15. An assembly (2) for applying a substance (6) to the eyelashes and/or to the eyebrows, the assembly comprising a reservoir (4) of substance and an applicator (12) according to any preceding claim.
