Description

Beschreibungdescription
KraftstoffpumpeFuel pump
The invention relates to a fuel pump for conveying fuel from a fuel tank of a motor vehicle with a pump stage driven by an electric motor, with a rotatably mounted shaft supporting a rotor of the pump stage, with a rotor of the electric motor rotatably mounted on the shaft and radially outward The rotor arranged stator and with parallel to the shaft against a commutator biased brushes for contacting zu¬ least one arranged on the rotor coil.
Such fuel pumps are widely used in today's motor vehicles and are known in practice. In the re ¬ gel two brushes of the electric motor are normally biased against the commutator. To guide the brushes, the electric motor has axial guides on the side of the commutator facing away from the rotor. These axial guides are usually made of an electrically conductive material and are electrically connected to connecting contacts arranged on a connecting piece covering the fuel pump. Thus, the known fuel pump essentially consists of three axially superposed sections, namely the pump stage, the stator and the rotor having section of the electric motor and the connection piece for the electric motor zu¬ together.
A disadvantage of the known fuel pump is that it has a very large height. However, this is disadvantageous in the case of today ¬ gen, usually only a very small height having Kraft ¬ containers, since in such Kraftstoffbe¬ containers the known fuel pump can not be mounted. The invention is based on the problem to make a Kraftstoffpum¬ pe of the type mentioned so that it has a very low overall height.
This problem is inventively solved in that the brushes are arranged radially adjacent to the coil of the rotor.
As a result of this design, the length of the fuel pump according to the invention is essentially determined by the length of the rotor of the electric motor with its bearings and by the pump stage. The brushes do not, in contrast to the be¬ knew fuel pump to an increase in height as they are ordered to ¬ adjacent the rotor and at the height of the rotor. The fuel pump according to the invention thereby has a particularly low overall height.
For example, the brushes could be radially biased against a barrel commutator. However, this leads to large radial dimensions of the electric motor. However, the inventive fuel pump is particularly compact, when the commutator is designed disc-shaped and extends with its outer edge to over the stator and when the brushes are arranged in the stator. By this design, in addition to the axial also the radial dimensions of the electric motor are kept particularly low.
The fuel pump of the invention designed to constructive ¬ tive particularly simple if the brushes are arranged in a pocket of the stator.
An impairment of the function of the stator by the arrangement of the brushes can be easily avoided, according to another advantageous development of the invention, if the brushes are arranged in a gap between two adjacent magnetic shells of the stator. Because such a gap between adjacent magnetic shells is usually present anyway, the arrangement of the brushes in the gap a reduction of the magnetic shells and thus a Beeinträchti¬ tion of the function of the stator are largely avoided.
To further reduce the axial dimensions of the inventive fuel pump, it is beneficial if the Verbin ¬ dung of the brushes to a power grid provided Anschluss¬ contacts of the electric motor are arranged radially next to the commutator or the stator.
The assembly of the fuel pump according to the invention is particularly simple if spring elements for biasing the brushes against the commutator are arranged behind the brushes, as seen from the commutator. Preferably, the spring elements are each formed as a compression spring. By means of this design, the components of the fuel pump can be easily mounted axially.
To further simplify the assembly of the fuel pump according to the invention, it is helpful if magnetic shells of the stator or supports arranged between two magnetic shells support the spring elements for biasing the brushes.
The space requirement of the brushes in the region of the stator can be kept particularly low, according to another advantageous development of the invention, when the spring elements engage around the commutator and the brushes. Preferably, the commutator and the brushes are viewed from the rotor radially outward. As a result, the bias of the brush on a particularly small space in the region of the stator. In the simplest case, the spring elements are C-shaped in a Seitenan¬ view. A housing cover covering the electric motor generally has a large distance from the commutator in the known fuel pumps. According to another advantageous development of the invention, such a distance can be easily avoided if a housing cover aufwei¬ a storage for the shaft directly opposite the commutator.
To further simplify the structural design of the fuel pump according to the invention, it is helpful if guides for the brushes are arranged parallel to the shaft.
At the outlet 13 can be connected a flow line, on the Kraft¬ material from a fuel tank is promoted to a Brennkraftmaschi¬ ne. To simplify the drawing, the fuel tank, the internal combustion engine and the supply line are not shown.
