Description

The present invention relates to a belt for a machine for producing sheet material, such as e.g. Paper or board, and a method for producing such a tape.

In machines for the production of web material, so for example paper machines, bands are used in different sections, which are permeable to the removal of moisture from the web material to be produced for air or steam. Such bands to be used, for example, in press sections or dry sections are often provided to provide this required permeability as fabric tapes with longitudinal threads running in a tape longitudinal direction and transverse threads running in a tape transverse direction, wherein generally the tape longitudinal direction also corresponds to the direction of movement of the tape. In order to be able to provide the belts in an endless configuration required for such machines, it is possible, for example, to provide the longitudinal ends of a belt body produced in a weaving process with projecting end regions, that is, not woven with weft threads of the belt body. These end portions of the projecting at the two ends of the tape body longitudinal threads are then woven in a connection process with connecting transverse threads, so that a connection zone is formed, in which, in principle, the fabric structure of the rest of the belt body corresponding tissue structure is present with a corresponding pattern of bonding, in which still survive the thread ends of the interwoven with the connecting transverse threads longitudinal threads. The suture ends are then shortened so that they pass over the surface of the tissue structure essentially not survive. Such a band is out US-A-3,366,355 known.

It has been found that, especially in the edge regions of such strips, there is the danger that the thus shortened thread ends slip out of the fabric interspaces, formed by the longitudinal or transverse threads surrounding the thread ends, so that frayed strips are produced which have an optical appearance which corresponds to that of a run. The fact that this problem occurs primarily in the peripheral areas of such a band, ie those areas which do not come into contact with the web material to be produced, could indicate that this problem is thermally induced, since in these areas cooling of the in the manufacturing process heating belt is not generated by the sheet material to be transported forward. The action of cleaning fluid discharged from cleaning nozzles at a comparatively high pressure could also favor this emergence of the yarn ends.

It is the object of the present invention to provide a belt for a machine for producing sheet material, in particular paper or cardboard, in which the problem of slipping out of yarn ends is eliminated. Further, it is the object of the present invention to provide a method for producing such a belt for the production of web material.

According to a first aspect of the present invention, the object mentioned at the outset is achieved by a strip for a machine for producing web material, in particular paper or cardboard, comprising at least one fabric layer with longitudinal threads extending substantially in one strip longitudinal direction and transverse threads extending substantially in a strip transverse direction, wherein, to provide an endless configuration of the band, end portions of the longitudinal threads are interwoven with connecting transverse threads, wherein at yarn ends of at least a portion of the Cross-linked interconnecting threads longitudinal cross-sectional extensions are provided.

Since cross-sectional enlargements are formed in the band according to the invention at the yarn ends of the longitudinal yarns, the risk of slipping out of these yarn ends from the fabric interstices or fabric stitches formed by the longitudinal and transverse yarns surrounding a respective yarn end is virtually eliminated.

It can be provided, for example, that the cross-sectional enlargements form an integral part of the longitudinal threads. In this way, the attachment of additional materials, such as e.g. Glue or the like can be dispensed with. This is particularly advantageous because it does not affect the required compatibility of the construction material of the longitudinal threads with additional material, such as e.g. Adhesives, care must be taken.

For example, at least a part of the cross-sectional extensions may be formed by knotting the thread ends.

In an alternative way of providing the cross-sectional enlargements, it is proposed that at least part of the cross-sectional enlargements be formed by deformation of the thread ends. For this purpose, it has proved to be particularly advantageous that at least a part of the longitudinal threads provided with cross-sectional widening is constructed of thermoplastic material and that the cross-sectional widenings are formed by hot deformation.

In a further alternative variant it can be provided that at least part of the cross-sectional widenings is formed by attaching clamping elements to the thread ends. This variant is particularly advantageous if, due to the dimensioning or the material the longitudinal threads knotting the thread ends or the deformation of the thread ends, for example by thermal action, is not possible.

Especially if the problem of slipping out of the thread ends is to be expected primarily in the edge regions of such a strip, it is advantageous if longitudinal threads with cross-sectional widening are provided substantially only in edge regions of the strip. In this way, in the wide area of the belt in which this problem is not to be expected, it is possible to dispense with the processing measures for providing the cross-sectional enlargements, and it is possible to further eliminate the risk that protrusions possibly formed by cross-sectional extensions will have marking effects generate the web material to be produced.

In order to be able to reliably prevent the thread ends from slipping out, it is proposed that the cross-sectional widenings at the thread ends be dimensioned such that they are larger than the fabric interspaces generated in the region of such thread ends by the threads surrounding them.

Due to the dimensioning of such belts for machines for the production of web material, it is particularly advantageous if the longitudinal threads are warp threads and the transverse threads are weft threads. Thus, such tapes can be made with a given bandwidth virtually any length of tape.

As already stated at the outset, it is possible to use such strips in various areas of machines for the production of web material, that is, for example, paper machines. For example, such a band may be provided for use in a press section. It is also possible to provide such a band for use in a dry section.

  1. a) Herstellen eines wenigstens eine Gewebelage umfassenden Bandkörpers mit im Wesentlichen in einer Bandlängsrichtung verlaufenden Längsfäden und im Wesentlichen in einer Badquerrichtung verlaufenden Querfäden derart, dass an Bandkörperenden die Längsfäden mit Endbereichen überstehen;
  2. b) Verweben der Endbereiche der Längsfäden an den Bandkörperenden mit Verbindungs-Querfäden zum Bereitstellen einer Endloskonfiguration des Bandes;
According to a second aspect of the present invention, the object mentioned at the outset is achieved by a method for producing a strip for a machine for producing web material, in particular paper or board, comprising the measures:
  1. a) producing a band body comprising at least one fabric layer with longitudinal threads extending substantially in a band longitudinal direction and transverse threads extending essentially in a transverse direction of the web such that the longitudinal threads with end regions project beyond the band body ends;
  2. b) interweaving the end portions of the longitudinal threads at the tape body ends with connecting transverse threads to provide an endless configuration of the tape;
  3. c) providing cross-sectional extensions at yarn ends of at least a portion of the longitudinal yarns.

In this method, it can furthermore be provided that, after carrying out the measure b) and before carrying out the measure c), the thread ends of the longitudinal threads are shortened to a predetermined excess length.

The present invention will be described below in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. It shows:
Fig. 1
a partial longitudinal sectional view of a belt for a machine for producing web material in a connection zone;
Fig. 2
the in Fig. 1 shown part of the strip after generation of cross-sectional widenings at the thread ends.

In Fig. 1 For example, a belt for a machine for making web material is generally designated 10. This band, which can be used, for example, in a press section or a dry section, comprises a band body 12, which in the example shown is constructed with a fabric layer 14. This fabric layer 14 comprises longitudinal yarns 16 running in a band longitudinal direction and transverse yarns 18, ie substantially transverse in a ribbon transverse direction. When this band body is produced, the longitudinal yarns 16 can advantageously be warp yarns, while the transverse yarns are weft yarns. In this way, it becomes possible to weave this with almost any length for a given width of such a band 10.

In order to be able to provide the band 10 in an endless configuration, the band body 12 is woven during the weaving process so that the longitudinal threads 16, ie, for example warp threads, have interwoven end regions at their two end regions 20, 22, ie, with transverse threads 18, for example weft threads 24 and 26 are provided. For example, it is assumed here that the two recognizable end regions 24 and 26 at the ends 20, 22 of the band body 14 are respective end regions of the same longitudinal thread 16, which of course does not necessarily have to be the case. These end portions 24, 26 of the or each longitudinal thread 16 are then interwoven to form a connection zone V with connecting transverse threads VQ. In the illustrated example, the connection zone V comprises the connecting transverse threads 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. In the connection zone V, therefore, a fabric structure, preferably the fabric structure, is obtained by the end regions 24 and 26 of the longitudinal threads 16 and the connecting transverse threads VQ , which is present in the remaining band body 12 corresponds, so that over the entire length of the band 10 now provided in endless configuration uniform surface properties are present.

One recognizes in Fig. 1 in that during the production of the connecting zone V thread ends 28 and 30 of the longitudinal threads 16 and of the end regions 24, 26 of the same extend beyond the surface of the single fabric layer 14 of the endless belt 10. In order to avoid basically marking effects in the web material to be manufactured or transported, it can be provided that these thread ends 28 and 30 protrude at that side of the band 10 which does not come into contact with the web material. Nevertheless, it has been found that, especially in the thermally more heavily loaded edge regions of such a conveyor belt, there is the danger that the thread ends 28, 30 will slip out of the thread spaces formed by the longitudinal and transverse threads surrounding them over the course of the operating life and thus to a frayed appearance to lead.

To counteract this problem, cross-sectional widenings are formed in the band 10 according to the invention in the area of these thread ends 28 and 30 in the manner described below. It is first after the generation of the connection zone V by the use of the thread end 28 in Fig. 1 recognizable cutting tools 32 ensured that, as already apparent from the thread end 30, they project beyond the fabric layer 14 only to a predetermined extent. This predetermined extent may of course also be dependent on the thickness of the longitudinal threads 16 in the range of 3 to 5 mm. After at least in those areas in which cross-sectional enlargements are to be formed, for example, the edge region of such a belt 10, the thread ends 28 and 30 have been shortened to this predetermined length or have already been provided in the connection process with such length, then become These thread ends 28 and 30, the cross-sectional extensions provided. When using longitudinal threads 16 with thermoplastic construction material, for example polyethylene, this can be achieved by providing a by in Fig. 2 indicated tool 24, for example one of the tip of a soldering iron, on the Thread ends 28 and 30 is acted upon. Thus, by pressing on these thread ends 28, 30 can be ensured that they are flattened and widened, so that then the in Fig. 2 recognizable cross-sectional extensions 36, 38 form. Since even in the area of the thread ends 28, 30 the longitudinal threads 16 are each directly surrounded by other longitudinal threads or transverse threads, the cross-sectional widenings 36, 38 will form with appropriate pressure loading by the tool 34 so that they conform to the shape of the surrounding threads , This means that the cross-sectional enlargements will have a dimension which is greater than a respective tissue interspace in which a longitudinal thread 16 having such a cross-sectional widening 36 or 38 extends between the further longitudinal threads 16 or transverse threads 18 surrounding it. In this way it can be reliably ensured that thus treated thread ends 28 and 30 can no longer slip out of the fabric structure. Furthermore, it can be ensured in this way that the thread ends 28, 30 no longer protrude beyond the surface of the belt 10, so that even if the side of the fabric layer 14, on which these cross-sectional extensions 36, 38 are present in Contact with such a belt leading or propelling rollers is to avoid adverse interactions, which could for example lead to a rough running.

As already stated above, it is of course possible to limit such treatment to those areas of the connection zone V in which the risk of slipping out of the tape ends is particularly great, so for example, the edge regions. In the intermediate region, which also comes into contact with the web material to be produced, for example, this treatment can be dispensed with. There, for example, the band ends 28 and 30 can be cut even further, since no material for generating the cross-sectional enlargements must be kept. Furthermore, it should be noted that not necessarily in the above-described thermal treatment the cross-sectional widening must be generated by pressing a hot tool on a respective end of the tape. Already a slight contact and a corresponding heating of such a thread end can have the result that it retracts to form a spherical cross-sectional widening, so that this spherical cross-sectional widening is substantially completely within the thickness of the single fabric layer 14.

In an alternative embodiment, it is possible that such cross-sectional enlargements are not generated by thermal treatment, but by knotting, so forming nodes at the thread ends. In this case, too, the cross-sectional enlargements thus form an integral part of the longitudinal threads 16 themselves, since they are also made of their structural material, albeit by mechanical treatment.

In a further alternative Ausgestaltungsart it is possible to attach small clip-like or staple-like organs to the yarn ends, which are clamped to the yarn ends 28 and 30 and thus in the area of these thread ends then provide a Querschnitsserweiterung and prevent the hatching out of the fabric interstices can. It will be understood that across the width of such tape 10, various types of cross-sectional enlargements may be provided. It should also be pointed out that such cross-sectional enlargements can of course also be provided if such a band is constructed with more than one fabric layer, ie, for example, a web material-side fabric layer and a machine-side fabric layer are provided, which bind to each other by separate or possibly also structure-forming binding threads are connected.
