From this prior art, the present invention is based, wherein the inventor have set the task of reducing the number of individual parts of the heat exchanger, which can lead to a better manufacturability.
The solution according to the invention is carried out with the features of
The present proposal envisages transferring a construction principle for heat exchangers known per se, for example for parallel-flow condensers, to a charge air cooler which is arranged in a housing through which the charge air can flow. The peculiarity of the design further consists in the fact that the construction principle known per se was equipped with a special connection plate.
Because there are at least four headers, the coolant defining at least one wayway located between the first and second headers and an oppositely directed return path located between the third and fourth headers, the way and the way back, seen in the flow direction of the charge air, is provided in successively arranged flat-tube corrugated rib levels, the manufacturability has been improved. There are much shorter solder joints available, reducing the risk of leakage. In this case, the first and the fourth manifold may be formed as a double tube and the second and third manifold may also be a double tube.
The headers consist of round, square or oval tubes, which have a series of slots to accommodate the ends of the flat tubes. The provision of receiving slots leads to a cost-effective production for heat exchangers, which also results in dense solder joints.
The headers extend parallel to each other.
The connection plate is multi-part, preferably in two parts, formed. One part of the connection plate is a frame part and the other part is a flat part.
The flow connection between the second manifold and the third manifold takes place in a preferred alternative via the connection plate. There, in the frame part of the connection plate, a Überströmdom was formed.
The planar part has at least four openings which receive the ends of the collecting tanks.
The flat part is trough-like deposited, the trough rests on the outermost corrugated fin. The frame part lies flat on the circumferential edge of the trough.
As another alternative, the flow connection between the second header and the third header is provided at the terminal plate opposite end of the two headers or near this end.
The flat tubes are integrally formed. For example, it concerns flat tubes whitened with a longitudinal seam or a semifinished product, for example drawn or extruded flat tubes.
At the terminal plate opposite end of the headers there is another plate which closes the ends of the headers and may be an end plate.

- Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the heat exchanger.
- Fig. 2 shows a section through the heat exchanger.
- Fig. 3 shows the heat exchanger in an exploded view.
- Fig. 4 also shows a perspective view of a modified heat exchanger. FIG. 5 shows a section through the heat exchanger of FIG. 4. FIG. 6 shows a front view of the heat exchanger. FIGS. 7-12 show sections according to the designation in FIG. 6. FIG. 13 shows the heat exchanger arranged in the housing.
The housing 6 (FIG. 13) may be the air intake port or the air intake passage of an internal combustion engine (not shown) through which the charge air compressed by a supercharger or turbocharger and heated due to the compression process flows through Combustion air to get into the cylinder of the internal combustion engine. To increase the degree of filling of the cylinder and thus the efficiency of the charge, a cooling of the charge air is known to be necessary, which is carried out by means of the charge air cooler.
The intercooler has at least four manifolds 3.1 - 3.4 , which represent the
All parts of the intercooler are aluminum parts that have been joined in the brazing furnace.
FIG. 2 shows a section through the
(nicht gezeigt)The
As FIG. 3 clearly shows, the flat part 5.1 has a further two
The
The already mentioned connecting
In addition, there are other design variants relating to the formation of the transfer of the coolant (flow connection 70) from one header to the other header, as shown in FIGS. 4, 5, 9, or 12. In FIG. 12, the
Overall, this proposal is a relatively production-friendly heat exchanger. The headers 3.1 - 3.4 are manufactured as semi-finished, cut to length and provided with
