Description

The present invention relates to a device intended to be inserted on a horizontal cable stretched along a building and constituting a lifeline and along which slides a slide connected by a link to a harness worn by a person working with high places.

The invention relates to devices which, inserted on the lifeline when the person accidentally falls, allow said lifeline stressed, to absorb energy and thus limit the efforts at the points of interest. anchoring said lifeline.

One of the aims of the present invention is to provide a very simple device, inexpensive, effective and offers great security.

The device, according to the invention, is intended to be inserted on a cable constituting a lifeline and disposed horizontally along a wall and having a hole for fixing one end of the cable, at the other end, a hole for fixing an end of said cable, characterized in that it consists of two superimposed plates and slidable relative to each other, each plate having a cutout forming a series of strips s' extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of said wafers and a finger passing through the cutout of the other wafer in the vicinity of the holes for fixing the ends of the cable.

With this arrangement, in case of a fall, the fingers will break the bars causing a damping of the voltage of the lifeline.

According to a constructive detail, the fingers are constituted by rivets on which are mounted washers bearing against the face of the pads opposite to that turned one facing the other.

Preferably, the bars have a V shape whose tip is turned towards the end of the cutout provided with the finger.

Finally, the two plates are identical and turned head to tail relative to each other.

The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to a particular embodiment given by way of example only and shown in the accompanying drawings.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view schematically showing a safety assembly.
  • Figure 2 and Figure 3 show, on a larger scale, the device according to the invention.
  • Figure 4 shows in perspective the device when it was used.

In Figure 1, there is shown a lifeline 1 disposed horizontally along a building; on it is movable a sliding member 2 connected by a cable 3 to a harness 4 intended to be worn by a worker working at high places.

La ligne de vie est fixée par ses extrémités à des ancrages 7.The lifeline is fixed at its ends to anchors 7.

Sur la ligne de vie 1 est inséré, au voisinage d'un ancrage 7, le dispositif selon l'invention et qui est référencé en 5.On the lifeline 1 is inserted, in the vicinity of an anchor 7, the device according to the invention and which is referenced in 5.

The device consists of two elongated plates 6 and 8 cut, for example in a metal plate. The wafer 6 has an elongated shape with, at one end, a circular hole 9 intended to be traversed by a hooking member of the cable 3.

At its other end, the plate 6 is pierced with a hole 10 in which is mounted a finger constituted by a rivet 11 on which is mounted a large washer 12.

The wafer 6 has a longitudinal cutout 14 forming a series of parallel strips 15 transverse to the longitudinal axis of said wafer 6.

The bars 15 have a V shape whose tip is turned towards the rivet 11.

La seconde plaquette 8 est identique à la première plaquette 6 et est disposée tête-bêche par rapport à ladite première plaquette 6.The second plate 8 is identical to the first plate 6 and is arranged head to tail with respect to said first plate 6.

The second plate 8 comprises, at one end, a hole 17 for fixing the cable 3 and, at the other end, a hole 18 in which is fixed a finger formed by a rivet 19 on which is mounted a washer 20.

The wafer 8 has a cut-out 21 forming a series of strips 22 transverse to the longitudinal axis of the wafer 8. The wales 22 are parallel to each other and in the shape of a V whose point is turned towards the rivet 19.

In the position of use, the rivet 11 passes through the cutout 21 and is housed between the end 21a of said cutout and the bar 22 adjacent to this end, the washer 12 bearing on the free face of the wafer 8.

The rivet 19 passes through the cutout 14 and is disposed between the end 14a of the cutout 14 and the bar adjacent to this end, the washer 20 bearing against the free face of the wafer 8 opposite to that turned towards the wafer 6.

If the user falls accidentally, the cable 3 is stretched and, under the weight of the user, the lifeline 1 is stressed in tension so that the plate 6 tends to slide relative to the plate 8, the rivet 11 causing a rupture of the bars 22, while the rivet 19 breaks the bars 15.

On a ainsi un amortissement progressif. There is thus a progressive damping.

It is understood that the device according to the invention is particularly simple, inexpensive to manufacture and offers great security.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment just described and shown. It will be possible to make many changes in detail without departing from the scope of the invention.
