Definitions
- the invention relates to a sensor-machine interface for coupling at least one sensor to at least one machine.
- sensors such as light grids, light barriers or scanners are connected directly to a machine, for example a press, a robot, a motor, etc., or to the control computer assigned to the machine.
- a machine for example a press, a robot, a motor, etc.
- the control computer assigned to the machine has the safety-relevant task of evaluating signals coming from the sensor and converting them into control or shutdown signals for the machine.
- the entire control computer which is generally relatively complex, must meet the safety standards required in each case, although the tasks to be performed by it are only to a small extent relevant to safety.
- the complete control computer although it largely takes over non-safety-related machine control tasks, must be designed in such a way that it, like the software running on the control computer, meets the applicable safety standards, which is associated with a disadvantageously high economic outlay.
- the fulfillment of the safety standards for every machine or control computer, including the associated one Software can be checked by an appropriately responsible approval body, which further increases the effort required.
- One object on which the invention is based is to implement a sensor / machine coupling of the type mentioned in such a way that it can be implemented inexpensively and, in particular, at the same time fulfills the respectively valid safety standard.
- this object is achieved by a sensor-machine interface for coupling at least one sensor to at least one machine with at least one sensor input for receiving sensor status signals, at least one machine output for sending machine control signals, a program memory and a control unit for program-controlled loading of the machine output in dependence from the signals received via the sensor input.
- the safety-relevant part of the control computer belonging to a machine is detached from the control computer and moved to a sensor-machine interface.
- This is a separate, comparatively small unit that is connected between the sensor and the machine or between the sensor and the control computer of the machine.
- This unit takes on the task of the signals coming from the sensor in control or. Implement shutdown signals for the machine.
- This has the advantageous effect that only the sensor-machine interface provided according to the invention, which is considerably less complex than the machine control computer, has to meet the applicable safety standards, but the control computer can thus be carried out inexpensively in a conventional manner.
- the sensor-machine interface according to the invention can be designed in such a way that it is suitable for connection to a large number of different machines and a large number of different sensors, so that for a correspondingly large number of different combinations of sensors and machines in each case only ever one and the same sensor-machine interface with associated software must be approved with regard to the fulfillment of the valid safety standards. This entails a further cost advantage.
- the sensor-machine interface according to the invention which is preferably housed in a housing separate from the sensor and the machine, can advantageously additionally have at least one machine input for receiving machine status signals, the machine output depending on that received via the sensor and / or the machine input Signals can be applied. Accordingly, the machine input mentioned makes it possible to control a machine not only as a function of sensor signals, but at the same time as a function of machine states.
- the interface according to the invention is therefore preferably operated in such a way that when certain sensor or machine status signals or certain combinations of sensor or machine status signals are received, no machine switch-off signal is transmitted, and when other sensor or machine status signals or other combinations of sensors are received - or machine status signals, a machine shutdown signal is sent via the machine output.
- the machine output is designed to send out machine shutdown signals and / or to send out machine actuation signals, in particular machine cycle signals.
- Hardware and software of the sensor-machine interface according to the invention preferably meet usual safety standards, in particular the standards IEC61508 and / or EN61496.
- usual safety standards in particular the standards IEC61508 and / or EN61496.
- at least the control unit present in the interface can be duplicated in a redundant manner.
- Different programs or program modules can be stored in the program memory, so that the program-controlled loading of the machine output can be carried out in different ways.
- the sensor-machine interface according to the invention can be adapted to different operating requirements, different sensors and different machines.
- the different programs or program modules can be loaded into the program memory by an external programming device, in particular a computer or laptop, via a programming interface. It is in particular possible to assemble the programs stored in the program memory from predefined program modules via a user interface that runs in particular on the computer or laptop.
- the combination of the programs from individual program modules has the advantage that only the individual program modules have to be checked or approved with regard to the fulfillment of security requirements, which then ensures that the programs composed of these program modules also meet the corresponding security standards. A separate approval of the finished programs is then no longer necessary, so that the approval of a limited number of program modules means a much higher number of them
- the sensor-machine interface according to the invention can be provided with a plurality of sensor inputs, sensor outputs, machine outputs and / or machine inputs so as to enable the simultaneous operation of several sensors and / or machines in connection with a single sensor-machine interface.
- FIG. 1 shows a block diagram of a sensor-machine interface with devices or machines connected to it.
- the sensor-machine interface 1 according to the invention is accommodated in a housing 2. It has a control unit 3 which communicates with a program memory 4.
- control unit 3 is able to receive signals that are made available by a sensor input 5 and by a machine input 6. Furthermore, the control unit 3 can apply a sensor output 7 and a machine output 8.
- the sensor-machine interface 1 is connected to a sensor 9, for example a light grid, via the sensor input 5 and the sensor output 7.
- the sensor-machine interface 1 is connected via the machine input 6 and the machine output 8 to a processing machine 10, for example a press.
- the housing 2 there is also a program module memory 11 in which a plurality of program modules forming a program library are stored. Like the program memory 4, the program module memory 11 communicates with the control unit 3.
- the sensor-machine interface 1 is also provided with a programming interface 12 to which a laptop 13 can be connected.
- the laptop 13 can communicate with the control unit 3 via this programming interface 12.
- a laptop 13 is connected to the programming interface 12.
- Various program modules are then loaded from the program module memory 11 via the user interface running on the laptop 13 and combined into one or more programs which are adapted to the respective application and which are then stored in the program memory 4.
- the unit consisting of sensor-machine interface 1, sensor 9 and machine 10 can then go into operation.
- the program running in the control unit 3 can act on the machine 10 via the machine output 8 in the desired manner.
