Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a washing and cleaning gurney from among those used in hospitals and homes for the elderly and for the mentally handicapped, among others.
- The invention is characterised by a special construction of the base platform and the articulated means for raising the gurney allowing it to reach a certain minimum height.
- Gurneys used to wash and clean persons with incontinence of any type, as well as for the handicapped, generally consist of a mat wrapped in waterproof plastic in the form of a wash basin, positionable and with a tilting mechanism to eliminate residual waters and removable side railings, as well as a lower wheeled cart that incorporates a hand- or pedal-operated hydraulic pump and water intakes.
- Although these gurneys are vertically foldable, they do not attain the minimum height levels required for certain storage arrangements in several levels, as well as under articulated beds.
- The applicant is not aware of any foldable gurneys solving this drawback as simply and easily as the invention described herein.
- The present invention relates to a washing and cleaning gurney from among those used in hospitals and homes for the elderly and for the mentally handicapped, among other uses.
- The invention is characterised by a special construction of the base platform with two levels that are joined by an oblique transition segment, with the lower level including and collecting the power source with the batteries and the means for raising the mattress, which replace the electrical controls with a bilateral pedal and a cylinder.
- The invention is also characterised by articulated means for raising the gurney which also allow it to reach minimum height by replacing the conventional mattress pillars, which are doubly jointed with plates on either side beginning at the base platform, by corresponding lateral groups of substantially curved tubes which, in turn, are jointed to other similar tubes placed in an opposite arrangement, which facilitate a wider arc path when the mattress is unfolded while eliminating the conventional pillars by replacing them.
- The present descriptive memory is complemented by a set of drawings of a preferred embodiment of the invention, shown for purposes of illustration and in a nonlimiting sense.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the gurney in its position of maximum elevation.
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of the folded gurney.
- In view of the above, the present invention relates to a cleaning and washing gurney, from among special-use gurneys, characterised in that its base platform (1) is slightly curved and has two levels joined by an oblique central transition segment (1.1), the lower segment housing the power source (2) with the batteries (3) and the means for raising the mattress (4), by means of a bilateral pedal (8) and a cylinder (9), in an arrangement that reduces the total height of the gurney and facilitates access to users with severe motor problems.
- In addition, the various articulated means for raising the gurney, instead of being of the "compass" type used in this industrial sector, this is, having a crossed scissor-like articulation, are provided alternatively on each side with pairs of tubes (5) that rise from the base platform (1), from its two levels, configured with a wide curve and which in turn are jointed to other similar curved tubes (6) in an opposing configuration that are joined to the frame (7) of the mattress (4), the two groups of tubes (5) and (6) increasing the turning radius and replacing the pillars.
- It is also characterised in that the frame (7) incorporates an integrated control (10) for the devices (11) for turning the mattress (4) towards its drainage area (12), which are easier to use than the currently used individual lateral controls.
- The essence of this invention is not affected by variations in the materials, shape, size and arrangement of the component elements, which are described in a nonlimiting manner, to allow its reproduction by an expert.
Claims (1)
- Cleaning and washing gurney, from among special-use gurneys, characterised in that it eliminates the pillars by having a base platform (1) that is slightly curved and has two levels joined by an oblique central transition segment (1.1), the lower segment housing the power source (2) with the batteries (3) and the means for raising the mattress (4) with a bilateral pedal (8) and a cylinder (9), while other articulated means for raising the gurney alternatively include on each side pairs of tubes (5) that rise from the base platform (1), from its two levels, configured with a wide curve, which in turn are jointed to other similar curved tubes (6) in an opposing configuration joined to the frame (7) of the mattress (4), the two groups of tubes (5) and (6) increasing the turning radius, as well as the frame (7) incorporating an integrated control (10) for the devices (11) for turning the mattress (4) towards its drainage area (12).
