Device according to any of claims 1 - 5, characterised in that a slide element (12) designed for attachment to the tiltable furniture part (2) is assigned to the end (10) of the supporting part (8) which supports the tiltable furniture part (2), whereon the supporting part (8) is slidably mounted.
  7. Device according to any of claims 1 - 6, characterised in that the operating mechanism (17) is operated against spring force.
  8. Device according to any of claims 1 - 7, characterised in that the operating mechanism (17) incorporates an operating rod (20), the end section adjacent to the clamping element (14) supporting an operating element (21) which is inoperative if the operating rod (20) is not operated and, if the operating rod (20) is operated, acts on the clamping element (14), pivoting it to cancel the canting action.
  9. Device according to claim 8, characterised in that the operating rod (20) is guided in the linear direction, and in that, if it is operated, the linear movement is converted into the pivoting movement of the clamping element (14) at the operating element (21) by means of an inclined surface arrangement (22).
  10. Device according to claim 9, characterised in that the operating element (21) is guided in the linear direction in a housing (24) of the device, which encloses the clamping element (14), the adjacent end section of the guide part (7) and the operating element (21).
  11. Device according to any of claims 1 to 10, characterised in that the operating mechanism (17) simultaneously operates the braking mechanism (27) to make it operative whenever it operates the clamping element (14).
  12. Device according to claim 11, characterised in that the braking mechanism (27) is a friction brake with at least one braking body (28, 29) mounted in a recess (30) of the guide part (7) which extends to the supporting part (8), on which the operating mechanism (17), if operated, acts indirectly or directly, pushing it against the supporting part (18).
  13. Device according to claim 12, characterised in that the at least one braking body (28, 29) is laterally mounted on the guide part (7) and the operating element (21) forms a web section (32, 33) passing along the guide part (7) on the side of each braking body (28, 29), which features an inclined surface (34) acting indirectly or directly against the relevant braking body (28, 29) and pushing the braking body (28, 29) against the supporting part (8) when the operating element (21) is moved to pivot the clamping element (14).
  14. Device according to claim 12 or 13, characterised in that the operating mechanism (17) acts on the braking body (28, 29) by way of a rolling element (31).
  15. Device according to claim 13 or 14, characterised in that the operating element (21) features a frame encompassing the guide part (7) with play allowing the operating movement of the operating mechanism (17) and forming the at least one web section (32, 33) with an inclined surface (34), to which an operating section (36) acting against the clamping element (14) is attached.
