Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an assembly for the packaging and application of a cosmetic product.
  • Cosmetic product means a product as defined in Council Directive 93/35 / EEC of 14 June 1993, amending for the sixth time Directive 76/768 / EEC.
  • the invention is particularly suitable for products in the form of a liquid, a gel or a cream.
  • products in the form of a liquid, a gel or a cream By way of example, mention may be made of the packaging and application of skincare products, in particular skin or hair products, makeup products, makeup removers or hair coloring products.
  • certain products in particular in the form of a milk, a cream or a gel are distributed under pressure by means of a pump. Because of their instability in the presence of air, they can be packaged in pump systems of the type without air intake, that is to say vacuum packed in tanks whose volume decreases with use.
  • the pump may be of the piston, membrane or valve type.
  • the user takes the pumped product on one or more of his fingers, and applied by massaging the surface to be treated.
  • the product is applied by means of an applicator, in particular in the form of an open cell foam.
  • EP-A 0 416 185 , EP-A-0 931 476 , and US-A-5,636,931 describe a two-slot set in communication with each other.
  • One of the two housings is intended to receive an applicator secured to a gripping element in the form of a plug adapted to close an opening of the housing containing the applicator.
  • the closure member is secured to a mechanism adapted, in response to rotation relative to the body of the assembly, to pressurize the product contained in the first housing so as to force its exit into the housing containing the 'applicator.
  • the wall separating the two housings is configured in the form of a piston which is movable, axially and / or in rotation, inside the assembly. The axial height of the assembly does not vary during the movement of the piston and the bulk of the assembly remains unchanged throughout its use.
  • an X-axis assembly for packaging and applying a cosmetic product, comprising a first compartment forming a reservoir containing said cosmetic product, and a second compartment, in communication selective or permanent, with the first via at least one orifice, and intended to receive an applicator member of said product, a closure element being able to close an opening delimited by an edge of said second compartment, the first compartment being of variable volume the second compartment being of fixed volume, the axial height H of the assembly being able to decrease with the volume of the first compartment.
  • the closure element is able to close the opening in a sealed manner to the product and also to the air.
  • the applicator member between two applications is held tightly inside the second housing. It is therefore kept away from the air, which allows it to maintain its good mechanical properties, and what prevents the product remaining on the applicator member from being altered in the presence of air or contaminating the environment of the applicator member.
  • the reduction of the volume of the second compartment containing the product causes an overpressure inside the first compartment which pushes the product out of the first compartment, via the orifice, so as to come into the second compartment in which the organ is located. and this, regardless of the viscosity of the product.
  • the axial height of the assembly decreasing with the volume of the second compartment the size of the assembly is reduced as and when the uses. This allows in particular to give an indication to the user as to the amount of product remaining in the set.
  • the assembly comprises a piston capable of sliding axially in said first compartment in response to a pressure exerted on the second compartment.
  • the piston can slide inside the first compartment in response to a pressure exerted on the closure element.
  • the user has the impression of pressing a push button of a conventional pump device.
  • the assembly comprises an actuating member integral with the lateral wall of the second compartment, said actuating member cooperating by threading with the outer wall of the first compartment, so as to slide the piston inside. the first compartment in response to the screwing of said actuating member on the first compartment.
  • the piston is for example obtained in one piece with the side wall of the second compartment.
  • the piston is secured to the wall side of the second compartment, in particular by gluing or clamping.
  • the piston has for example an axial recess around which is enclosed an extension of the side wall of the second compartment to keep it secured to the second compartment.
  • the side wall and / or the bottom of the second compartment is / are simply resting on the piston.
  • the cross section of the piston is substantially equal to the cross section of the second compartment.
  • the force required to exert on the second compartment so that the piston sinks into the first compartment is relatively small because when one presses on the closure element or when one actuates the body actuation, the force exerted on the second compartment is distributed over its entire periphery. This force is then transmitted to the piston also over its entire periphery because its cross section is substantially the same as that of the second compartment.
  • the piston forms a lip, able to slide sealingly against an inner surface of the side wall of the first compartment.
  • the packaging assembly comprises a stop means provided for holding the first and second compartments connected to one another.
  • the orifice putting the product reservoir in communication with the second compartment is sealed by a unidirectional opening valve, in particular a valve or a ball, said valve opening towards the second compartment in response to an overpressure created at the inside the first compartment generated when the volume of the first compartment decreases.
  • a unidirectional opening valve in particular a valve or a ball, said valve opening towards the second compartment in response to an overpressure created at the inside the first compartment generated when the volume of the first compartment decreases.
  • the applicator member is fixed, in particular glued, welded or pinched, on the closure element.
  • the closure member may form a gripping member for the applicator member. It can be screwed or snapped reversibly on the set.
  • the applicator member may be fixed, in particular glued, welded or pinched, to a wall of the second compartment.
  • the application member is able to load product surface or deep. It consists at least in part of a porous material.
  • the applicator member is, for example, made of a sintered material, in particular thermoplastic or ceramic material, of felt, or of an elastically compressible material, in particular a closed-cell foam, open or semi-open, or an elastomer, or in one layering layers of one or more of these materials. It can also be made of a semi-rigid plastic material which has micro-asperities.
  • the restitution of the product on the surface to be treated is either by capillarity or surface tension effect in contact with the skin, or by expulsion of the product, the pores of the applicator, in response to a slight deformation (by pressure) of it on the surface to be treated.
  • the applicator member can consist of several different materials, in particular a stack of foams having different hardnesses, some of the foams being open-celled, the rest being closed-cell.
  • the applicator member consists of a polyether, polyester, polyurethane, NBR foam (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber), SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber), PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or a sintered polyethylene, bronze, glass, silicone, or nylon.
  • An applicator of elastically compressible material corresponds to the preferred embodiment. Indeed, when the applicator is elastically compressible, the application surface, facing the orifice (s) through which the product is fed, can be elastically retracted under the pressure of the product, so as to allow greater loading, surface and / or depth of the applicator.
  • At least a portion of the surface of the applicator member is covered with a flocking, in particular based on fibers of rayon, cotton, viscose, or nylon.
  • the flocking contributes to creating a reserve of product, immediately in the vicinity of the application surface. In addition, it allows to give more softness to the application, especially when the applicator member is large cell foam.
  • the flocking may consist of a mixture of fibers of length, and / or of a different type and / or diameter.
  • at least a portion of the surface of the applicator member is covered with a woven or non-woven coating.
  • the applicator member When the applicator member is attached to the closure member, it is preferably in contact with at least a portion of the inner wall of the second compartment, in particular with the bottom of the second compartment.
  • the lower transverse wall of the second compartment intended to receive the applicator member, in which the orifice is formed then advantageously has a shape substantially complementary to the shape of the applicator member, so that the application member may, particularly in the closed position of the assembly, come into intimate contact, or even elastic, with this surface portion, and load perfectly product.
  • the application member may for example have a convex profile or a concave profile. It can also have a circular, triangular, square or any other shape.
  • the applicator member may be dimensioned by relative to the second housing so that, in the mounted position inside the second housing, it is not substantially axially compressed. The decline mentioned above is facilitated, because of the lower resistance offered by the applicator.
  • the applicator member is partially compressed axially inside the housing which contains it so that, at the opening of the closure element which it is secured , the product located in the vicinity of the surface of the applicator member is pumped deep within the latter in response to decompression of the foam.
  • This embodiment is more suitable for low viscosity compositions.
  • the assembly according to the invention is particularly suitable for the packaging and dispensing of a cosmetic product in the form of a liquid, a gel or a cream.
  • This set particularly because of the mode of distribution that characterizes it, is particularly suitable for the distribution of high viscosity products such as certain hair products, care, or makeup.
  • the product reservoir closed by a piston is a refill, independent of the rest of the assembly, on which can mount the second housing containing the applicator.
  • the assembly 10 shown in Figures 1 to 3 is formed of a reservoir 20 of product P on which is mounted a housing 30 for an applicator 50.
  • the applicator 50 is secured to a cover 60 provided for sealingly closing the housing 30.
  • the reservoir 20 and the housing 30 applicator 50 communicate via an opening 40 which allows the passage of the product from the reservoir in the housing.
  • the assembly 10 has an axial height H which decreases as and when uses.
  • the reservoir 20 made for example of polypropylene, is cylindrical in shape with a revolution and a longitudinal axis X.
  • the reservoir 20 comprises a side wall 21 whose first end 22 is open, and a second end, opposite to the first, is closed by a bottom 23, which, for reasons which will be explained in the following description, has a recess 230 inwardly of the tank.
  • the internal surface of the side wall 21 comprises two diametrically opposed beads 24 arranged at the upper end 22 open. These beads 24 cooperate with the housing member 30 in a manner to be detailed later.
  • the housing 30 is also made of polypropylene. It is also cylindrical in shape and has a longitudinal axis X. It is defined by a side wall 33 formed in one piece with a bottom 36, in hemispherical shape, into which an end of the passage 40 opens. The lateral wall 33 is extends beyond the bottom 36, by a skirt 34 whose one end is intended to be housed in the reservoir 20.
  • the outer surface of the side wall 33 and its extension 34 comprises two longitudinal grooves 330.
  • the grooves 330 are provided to receive the beads 24 of the reservoir. The grooves do not extend over the entire axial height of the outer surface of the side wall of the second compartment.
