Claims (33)

  1. Wagon for the combined rail/road transport of road freight and the loading and unloading thereof, which wagon comprises two end platforms (2) and (3) which are supported by bogies or axles (4) and (5) and a pivoting rail structure (6) which carries the road freight and which is assembled so as to be able to be dissociated, by means of at least one of the ends thereof, from the end platforms (2) or (3) and which can be driven with a back and forth pivoting movement towards and beyond a railway platform during the loading and unloading operations in an inclined position relative to the general longitudinal direction of the wagon,
    the carrying rail structure (6) of the road freight being connected, by means of at least one of the ends thereof, to an end platform (2) and/or (3) by means of a connection which can be dissociated and locked to form a rigid assembly in order to produce at least one rigid connection with the corresponding end platform (2) and/or (3), in order to support the load and transfer all the static or dynamic forces produced by the traction, the running and the loading/unloading in the associated state for transport, and to completely release the ends of the end platforms (2) and/or (3) in the dissociated state for loading/unloading,
    the carrying rail structure (6) being shaped or provided in at least one location for receiving the lifting and pivoting forces,
    the structure having a pivoting centre (26) or (28), or another, at any location on the wagon in the longitudinal perpendicular centre plane thereof, characterised in that there are provided means for retaining the end platforms (2) and (3) in an absolute or relative position during the loading/unloading operations, these retaining means not transmitting the various static or dynamic forces connected to the traction, the movement and the loading/unloading operations.
  2. Wagon according to claim 1, characterised in that the base (8) of the carrying rail structure (6) is shaped or provided in at least one location for receiving the lifting and pivoting forces.
  3. Wagon according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the means for retaining the end platforms (2) or (3) in an absolute or relative position are in the form of a lower mechanical connection which connects the end platforms together at a low level.
  4. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the lower mechanical connection is a thin longitudinal connection element (23).
  5. Wagon according to claim 3 or 4, characterised in that the longitudinal connection element (23) has reinforced longitudinal edges.
  6. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the reinforced longitudinal edges are constructed as hollow tubes (53) and (54) and are used for guiding, or the introduction of the conduits and cables for transporting, the fluids and power.
  7. Wagon according to any one of claims 3 to 6, characterised in that the lower mechanical connection carries, at the central portion, the pivoting centre (28) of the carrying rail structure (6).
  8. Wagon according to claim 1, characterised in that the carrying rail structure (6) comprises a thin floor (7) which is located as low as possible.
  9. Wagon according to any one of claims 4 to 8, characterised in that the longitudinal connection element (23) is located under the floor (7) of the carrying rail structure (6).
  10. Wagon according to any one of claims 4 to 8, characterised in that the longitudinal connection element (23) is located in the floor (7) above the level which supports the load of the carrying rail structure (6).
  11. Wagon according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the floor (7) is shaped over a longitudinal central zone in accordance with a longitudinal housing (9) in the form of a tunnel (10) which is intended for receiving, with engagement in a retracted position, the mechanical connection between the end platforms (2) and (3).
  12. Wagon according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the carrying rail structure (6) is a receiving body which is formed by a floor (7) which is bordered by two lateral protection walls (11) and (12) which each terminate longitudinally towards the top in an upper side member (13) or (14) whose ends extend longitudinally beyond the body in order to form individual ends (15) for assembly with the end platforms (2) and (3).
  13. Wagon according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the individual ends (15) of the upper side members (13) and (14) of the carrying rail structure (6) are short and are supported on complementary receiving formations (16) which are located on the end platforms (2) and (3) close to the inner side boundary thereof.
  14. Wagon according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the bodies of the end platforms (2) and (3) have, at the inner side of the wagon, a descending face, beyond which the receiving formations (16) of the end platforms (2) and (3) are formed.
  15. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the individual ends (15) of the carrying rail structure (6) are formed as at least one hook.
  16. Wagon according to claim 13 or 14, characterised in that the individual ends (15) of the carrying rail structure (6) are short, composite and formed as a double hook.
  17. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the composite ends (15) of the carrying rail structure (6) each comprise an upper hook (31) extending from the upper side members (13) and (14) and a lower hook (32) extending from the lower edges of the carrying rail structure (6).
  18. Wagon according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the portion of each end platform (2) and (3) facing the individual ends (15) comprises receiving formations or structures (16) which complement the hooks of the ends (15) of the carrying rail structure (6) in order each time to form a rigid assembly, by means of which the carrying rail structure (6) forms an integral part of the end platforms (2) and (3).
  19. Wagon according to claim 1, characterised in that it comprises, in the vicinity of at least one of the ends thereof at the lower face of the base (8) of the floor (7) of the carrying rail structure (6), a flat transverse support and movement track (29) for the means for lifting and driving in a pivoting manner.
  20. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the track (29) is in the form of a circular arc centred on the central pivoting centre (28).
  21. Wagon according to any one of claims 11 to 16, characterised in that the ends (15) of the carrying rail structure (6) are produced in the form of very short arms.
  22. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the very short arms are simple extensions of the upper side members (13) and (14) and the lower edges of the carrying structure (6) in the form of hooks.
  23. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that there are two hooks for each end of the upper side members and the lower edges.
  24. Wagon according to any one of the preceding claims 11 to 16, characterised in that the ends (15) of the carrying rail structure (6) are produced in the form of long arms.
  25. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that there are, facing each double-hook-shaped end (15) of the carrying rail structure (6), superimposed complementary hooks (34) and (35), the upper hook (34) of which has a locking device (36).
  26. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the locking device (36) is a tilting finger (37) which is in the form of a hook and which comes to rest in a locking manner on the corresponding hook (30) of the carrying rail structure (6) and which is activated by a pneumatic mechanism with automatic locking return.
  27. Wagon according to claim 1, characterised in that only one of the receiving structures (33) for the complementary receiving formations (16) is in the form of a hook.
  28. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the receiving structures (33) have an upper portion having a profile (60) in the form of a rounded wave, followed by a hollow (61) and a lower portion in the form of a simple support surface (62), against which the lower formation of the end of each lateral side member of the carrying rail structure (6) comes to rest in abutment in order to form the dissociable connection.
  29. Wagon according to claim 1, characterised in that the end platforms (2) and (3) have structures which serve as a lateral wedging stop at the ends of the carrying rail structure (6).
  30. Wagon according to claim 1, characterised in that the end platforms (2) and (3) of the carrying rail structure (6) have extendable support means.
  31. Wagon according to claim 30, characterised in that each support means co-operates with a device (64) for locking/unlocking the assembly of each dissociable connection.
  32. Wagon according to claim 3, characterised in that at least one of the ends of the longitudinal connection element (23) has two diverging branches.
  33. Wagon according to the preceding claim, characterised in that the two diverging branches of at least one of the ends of the longitudinal connection element (23) are open by a maximum width which allows them to be supported on the adjacent end of the flanks of at least one of the end platforms (2) or (3).
