Die Entnahme erfolgt mittels eine Saugkopfes, der mit einer Vakuumquelle in Verbindung steht und an dessen Auflagefläche ein Unterdruck herrscht. Der Saugkopf wird zur Applikatorstation geführt. Auf dem Weg zur Applikatorstation wird das Etikett in einem ausgewählten Bereich mit Kleber beschichtet. An der Applikatorstation kommt das oberste bzw. das vorderste Sicherungselement des Stapels 8 mit dem Kleber in Kontakt und bleibt in dem mit Klebstoff beschichteten Bereich des Etiketts haften. Anschließend wird der Saugkopf und das mit dem Sicherungselement bestückte Etikett zur Ablagestation transportiert. Im Unterschied zu der in Fig. 1 gezeigten Ausgestaltung sind die Sicherungselemente 3 in der Applikatorstation 5 nicht in einem Stapel 8 angeordnet, sondern werden über eine Spendvorrichtung auf die Etiketten 2 übertragen. Die Spendvorrichtung setzt sich zusammen aus einer Speicherrolle 16, einer Spendkante 17 und einer Aufwickelrolle 15. Auf dem Trägerband 14 sind Sicherungselemente 3 in Form von Klebeetiketten aufgebracht. An der Spendkante 17 werden die Sicherungselemente 3 von dem Trägerband 14 abgehoben und kommen in Kontakt mit dem Etikett 2.
