Fahrtschreiber mit einem flachen, einbaufähigen Gehäuse, mit einer Anzeigevorrichtung und mit Vorkehrungen für eine frontseitige Eingabe und Entnahme von fahrerbezogenen Datenkarten, mit Tasten zur Funktionssteuerung und zum Aufrufen von Speicherinhalten des Fahrtschreibers und mit einer auf bandförmigem Aufzeichnungsmaterial registrierenden Druckvorrichtung, welche einen Thermodruckkopf, eine mit dem Thermodruckkopf unter Zwischenlage des Aufzeichnungsmaterials kraftschlüssig in Wirkverbindung stehende, von einem Laufwerk angetriebene Transportwalze und eine einen den Aufzeichnungsmaterialvorrat bildenden Bandwickel lagernde Aufnahme umfaßt und welche zum Nachladen eines Bandwickels aus dem Gehäuse des Fahrtschreibers frontseitig herausbewegbar ist,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass wenigstens der Thermodruckkopf (53), die Transportwalze (47) und das diese treibende Laufwerk (49, 50, P) in einem quaderförmigen Druckwerkgehäuse (33) angeordnet sind, dessen Frontfläche bei in Funktionsstellung befindlicher Druckvorrichtung (18) im wesentlichen bündig ist mit der Frontfläche einer Frontwand (1) des Fahrtschreibers (3), dass in dem Druckwerkgehäuse (33) ein dem Zuführen des Aufzeichnungsmaterials (48) zu dem Druckspalt zwischen dem Thermodruckkopf (53) und der Transportwalze (47) dienender Eingabeschacht (70) und ein dem Wegführen des bedruckten Aufzeichnungsmaterials (48) vom Druckspalt dienender Ausgabeschacht (58) vorgesehen sind, wobei der Ausgabeschacht (58) derart ausgebildet ist, dass sich die schlitzförmige Auslassöffnung (26) des Ausgabeschachtes (58) im Bereich der Verschneidung zwischen einer frontseitigen Ebene (65) einer Stirnwand (60) des Druckwerkgehäuses (33) und einer im wesentlichen rechtwinklig zur Stirnwand (60) stehenden Begrenzungsebene (66) des Druckwerkgehäuses (33) befindet.
