Aufgrund dieser zwangsläufig größeren Länge der Kurbelwelle muß diese auch relativ stark, d.h. mit ausreichend großem Durchmesser, ausgebildet sein. Darüber hinaus ergibt sich eine beträchtliche Lagerbeanspruchung, die demgemäß auch entsprechend groß dimensionierte Lager erfordert.
