Definitions
- the present invention relates to a radio telephone watch intended to be worn on the wrist of a user. More specifically, the present invention relates to such a radio telephone watch intended for use in a mobile communications system, such as, for example, the GSM network ( G lobal S ystem for M obile communications), this watch being capable of removably accommodate a SIM card ( S ubscriber I dentity M odule) allowing access to said mobile communications system.
- a mobile communications system such as, for example, the GSM network ( G lobal S ystem for M obile communications)
- SIM card S ubscriber I dentity M odule
- Communication devices such as cell phones, intended for use in a mobile communications system such as example, the GSM network, commonly require the use of chip physically connected to the communications device. These cards chip are intended to ensure both the identification of users by a communications system operator, as well as compatibility and the interchangeability of the communication devices within this system communications.
- These smart cards allow the user to access the system of mobile communications via a provider or network operator appropriate. They thus contain data defining the modalities access to the mobile communications system and also allow storage of additional data relating to the user, such as a personal identification number and / or possibly a directory of telephone numbers.
- smart cards have dimensions and characteristics defined by international standards, in particular ISO / IEC 7810, 7816/1 and 7816/2 standards. Such a smart card is thus presents in the form of a plastic card on which are arranged a printed circuit and an electronic chip.

- the watch 1 in order to electrically connect the SIM card 10 to the module electronic 5 disposed inside the housing 2, the watch 1 according to the present invention further comprises integrated electrical connection means 6 mainly in a strand of bracelet 3, in this case, the first strand of bracelet 31 in this example.
- These electrical connection means 6 are shown schematically in phantom in Figures 2a and 2b.
- These electrical connection means 6 can advantageously be produced in the form of conductive tracks deposited on a substrate flexible dielectric, for example by a photolithography process. Alternatively, these electrical connection means 6 can also be made in the form of a set of separate conductive wires.
- the radio telephone watch 1 also comprises a device 7 ensuring the closure of bracelet 3 around the user's wrist.
- this device 7 is for example made, so restrictive, in the form of a clasp comprising a pin buckle at the through which the second strand 32 of the bracelet 3 passes.
- the device 7 ensuring the closure of the bracelet can, for example, alternatively be made in the form of a loop allowing the passage of the second strand of bracelet 32, the latter then being folded back on itself so that first and second adhesive portions of this strand 32 come to collaborate together to secure the bracelet 3.
- the device 7 ensuring the closure of the bracelet 3 can be directly associated with locker 4.
- This closure device 7 can also advantageously be associated with the locker 4 so as to cooperate with the latter, in particular in order to ensure adequate maintenance of the SIM card 10 in the locker 4.
- FIGS. 3a to 3c we will now describe more detailed a variant of the present invention.
- the rack 4 comprises a body 41 in which is likely to accommodate the SIM card 10, and a mobile element 42 ensuring a closing the locker 4.
- the body 41 and the movable element 42 collaborate so as to ensure adequate maintenance of the SIM card 10 when it is inserted into the body 41.
- the movable element 42 is formed of a cover and is thus rotatably mounted by one of its ends by means of a axis 401 secured to the body 41.
- the closure of the movable element 42 on the body 41 is provided, without limitation, by a conventional system snap 4A.
- Other systems to ensure the closure of the movable element 42 on the body 41 can easily be envisaged. So, this mobile element 42 can, for example, alternatively be produced under the shape of a drawer adapted to slide in a groove in the body 41.
- the body 41 is linked to the first bracelet strand 31 via of a conventional type 4B fastening system comprising in particular a attachment axis 402.
- the body 41 has preferably a recess 431 whose shape substantially limits any rotation of the attached end of the first bracelet strand 31. This is desirable because of the presence of the electrical connection means 6 integrated in the first bracelet strand 31 which enter the body 41 at this fastener 4B. It is indeed desirable to limit rotation of the first bracelet strand 31 at the attachment 4B in order to avoid any rupture by shearing of the electrical connection means 6.
- the body 41 essentially comprises a first housing 411 intended to receive SIM card 10 and has dimensions similar to this last.
- This first housing 411 comprises in particular an oblique edge 412 intended to collaborate with the oblique edge 12 of the SIM card 10 of so as to ensure that the orientation of the card in this first slot 411 is such that this one, and in particular its terminals 14, face a second housing 414 formed in the body 41.
- the body 41 also includes a through hole 415, one of which end opens at the attachment 4B of the first strand of bracelet 31 and the other end of which opens into the second housing 414, so to allow the passage of the electrical connection means 6 integrated in the first bracelet strand 31.
- the electrical connection means 6 comprise, in this example, six conductive tracks 61 formed by the deposition of a conductive material on a flexible dielectric substrate 63. These conductive tracks 61 are connected, via a connector 45, to a printed circuit 43 disposed in the second housing 414 of the body 41. This printed circuit 43 carries contact blades 44, six in number, intended to come collaborate with the terminals 14 of the SIM card 10.
- this embodiment is in no way limiting. It is, in fact, alternatively possible to form, also by photolithography, contact zones, respectively connected to the conductive tracks, directly on an extension of the dielectric substrate 63 disposed, in this case, at the bottom of the second housing 414, and to ensure an electrical contact between these contact areas and the terminals 14 of the SIM card 10 by through contact blades carried, for example, by an element intermediate placed in the second housing 414 in place of the circuit printed 43.
- a seal 46 is disposed between the body 41 and the movable element 42. This seal 46 is disposed in a channel 47 surrounding the first housing 411 of the body 41.
- the tightness of the rack 4 at the level of the through orifice 415 can be ensured directly by the contact existing between the end of the first bracelet strand 31 and the recess 431 formed in the body 41, as illustrated in the example of FIGS. 3a to 3c.
- sealing can be ensured by a silicone bonding practiced in the through hole 415 after the assembly of the connection means 6.
- the device ensuring the closure of the bracelet 3 is formed by a clasp 7 comprising a buckle 71 and a pin 72 collaborating with orifices made in the second strand of bracelet 32.
- the clasp 7 is also advantageously articulated to the body 41 of the rack 4 by means of an axis 403.
- the clasp 7 is also advantageously associated with locker 4 so that the loop 71 exerts pressure on the movable element 42 through the second bracelet strand 32 and so ensure that the movable element 42 does not open inadvertently.
- the loop 71 of the clasp 7 thus not only ensures the closure of the bracelet 31 but also an adequate maintenance of the card SIM 10 in its locker 4.
- the loop 71 of the clasp 7 can, once the bracelet strand 32 removed, easily pivot in a position (shown in dashed lines in Figure 3b) allowing authorize the movement of the movable element 42.
- FIGS 4a and 4b show detailed views of another variant of the present invention.
- This variant includes a locker 8 comprising a body 81 in which the SIM card is capable of being housed 10, and a movable element 82 ensuring the closing of the locker 8.
- the movable element 82 is formed, in this example, of a mounted cover rotatably on the body 81 by one of its ends by means an axis 801. The closing of this movable element 82 is ensured by a 8A snap-in system similar to the system used in the previous one variant.
- a device 9 ensuring the closure of the bracelet 3 is formed by a pin 92 hinged at body 81 by means of an axis 803 and substantially covering the movable element 82 in its length.
- First and second passers-by 91 and 91 'coming from material with the body 81 of the rack 8 are also preferably provided at each end of the locker 8 so as to allow the passage of the second bracelet strand 32.
- the barb 92 is arranged so as to directly exert pressure on the movable element 82 when the watch is worn on the wrist, so that any untimely opening of this movable element 82 is prevented.
- the barb 92 in order to introduce or withdraw the card SIM 10 of the locker 8, the barb 92 can, once the bracelet strand 32 removed, easily pivot into a position (shown in dashed lines in the FIG. 4b) allowing the movement of the movable element 82.
- a source power supply (battery, rechargeable battery, etc.) to the watch radio telephone can advantageously be placed in the locker accommodating the SIM card.
- SIM card has, as has already been mentioned, six terminals (terminals 14 in Figure 1) internally connected to an electronic chip, two of these terminals being commonly used for ensure the supply of this electronic chip.
- a power source of the radio telephone watch can thus advantageously be associated with the SIM card and electrical connection means, and thus be integrated into the locker of the radio telephone watch according to the present invention.
- FIG. 5 it is thus illustrated, schematically, a alternative embodiment of a radio telephone watch according to the present invention comprising the case 2, the bracelet 3, the electronic module 5, the electrical connection means 6 and a rack 104 capable of accommodating the SIM card 10.
- This compartment 104 includes, in a similar manner to the variants previously described, a body 141 and a movable element 142 ensuring the closing the locker 104.
- the body 141 is further arranged to receive a power source 120 of the radio watch phone.
- This power source 120 is thus placed in a housing formed in the body 141.
- this power source 120 is associated with a printed circuit 143 ensuring an electrical connection between the terminals 14 of the SIM card 10 and the electrical connection means 6.
- this circuit printed 143 thus ensures at the same time a connection to the source supply 120.
- This variant makes it possible to significantly reduce the size and the dimensions of the radio phone watch case because the source power supply is typically a relatively bulky item. His moving to the locker housing the SIM card also allows to better balance the radio phone watch around the wrist the user.
