Abstract

The fuse has a cylindrical body and a visible indication of fuse rupture. The fuse has a sealed cylindrical body (2) extending along an axial direction (A), with a percussion device (4) mounted inside the sealed body (2). This is arranged to be displaced along the axial direction (A) when it is actuated, to act on a part (9) used to signal fuse rupture. The visual signalization piece has a rounded head (10) connected to a circular base (11) by a foot (12) around which is rolled a ribbon (13). The piece (9) is mounted co-axially in an extension section at the end of the fuse body (2) and is separated from the percussion device (4) by a flexible sealing disk (14). The disk closes an end of the fuse and is mounted on a co-axial crown (6,7) fixed in the fuse body. The circular base (11) is mounted so as to press against the fixed crown (6,7), and the rounded head (10) has a diameter sufficient to close the tubular extension part. The base of the part (9) has breakable ribs (11), which break when the percussion device is activated, so as to expel the head (10) from the tubular body (8). The ribbon (13) has an end fixed to the fusible body, and an end fixed to the foot of the signalization piece, so that when it is expelled it hangs from body to visually signal fuse rupture.

Description

The invention relates to a fuse for a medium voltage installation, comprising a tightly closed cylindrical fuse body extending in an axial direction, a striker mounted inside the body watertight fuse and arranged to move in said axial direction when activated so as to act on a part used to signal a blown fuse.

State of the art striker fuses are mainly used in armored substations and are subject to standardization, in particular as regards concerns the mechanical characteristics of the striker. So far in application to armored substations, the fuse striker is intended to act on a operating mechanism of a breaking device such as a disconnector. When actuated, the striker tears a tightly closing disc the fuse body to act on the operating mechanism which can be a swing arm for example. The stroke of the striker depends in particular on the kinematics of the operating mechanism on which it acts.

The invention makes it possible to obtain a fuse whose striker acts on a part used to visually indicate that the fuse has blown, in particular from the top of a line support pole or electrical equipment medium voltage.

An exemplary embodiment of a fuse according to the invention is described below in relationship with the drawings.

Figure 1 shows in longitudinal section a fuse according to the invention with the part used to visually indicate that the fuse has blown.

Figure 2 shows in longitudinal section the part used to signal visually cutting the fuse when it is almost expelled from the tubular extension at the end of the fuse.

Figure 3 shows in more detail in a plan view of the circular base frangible part used to visually signal the blowing of the fuse.

Figure 1, le fusible moyenne tension 1 montré partiellement en coupe longitudinale comporte un corps cylindrique de fusible 2 fermé de façon étanche à ses deux extrémités qui s'étend suivant une direction axiale A et dans lequel est monté un percuteur à piston 3.Figure 1, the medium voltage fuse 1 shown partially in section longitudinal has a cylindrical fuse body 2 sealed at its two ends which extends in an axial direction A and in which is mounted a piston striker 3.

The striker 3, conventional in itself, is arranged to move along said direction A when it is activated, i.e. when the fuse is cut. The displacement of striker 3 in direction A is obtained by the relaxation of a spring 4 kept compressed by fusible wires 5.

The fuse body 2 is therefore closed in a sealed manner to one of its two ends by a metal cap 6 of electrical connection having a central recess 7 which is crossed by the striker 3 when the latter is operated. The central recess 7 is normally sealed off by a plastic film (not shown) which is torn by the striker when it is activated.

As shown in FIG. 1, a tubular extension 8, coaxial with the body fuse 2, is fitted on the cap 6 and a piece 9 of visual signaling of the cut-out of the fuse is mounted coaxially inside this tubular extension 8. This part 9 consists of an ogival head 10 connected to a circular base 11 by a central foot 12 around which is wound a ribbon 13. This part 9 is separated from the striker 3 by a disc flexible seal 14 mounted in abutment on the crown formed by the face front of the cap 6 provided with its central recess 7 and pinched between the cap 6 and the circular base 11. The circular base 11 is locked in a internal cylindrical bore of the tubular extension 8 bearing against the crown defined by the front face of the cap 6 which is fixed in the body fuse.

As shown in Figures 3a and 3b, the circular base 11 has areas of small section 11A, 11B, 11C, 11D (radial connecting branches of the peripheral crown of the circular base 11 with the central leg 12) which break (Figure 3b) under the action of the striker to release the foot 12 of the room. Note that the diameter of foot 12 is expected to be slightly larger than the diameter of the recess 7 and is coaxial with it so that the part 9 does not cannot be inserted into fuse body 2. As shown in figure 1, the base of the foot 12 connected to the circular base 11 is supported on the cap 6 through the flexible disc 14 when the striker is not actuated.

The ogival head 10 of the part 9 has a convex surface oriented on the side of the opening of the tubular extension 8 and has a diameter sufficient to close off this opening which prevents it from being grasped from outside the tubular extension 8.

The ribbon 13 has one end fixed in a slot 15 provided in the part peripheral of the circular base 11 which remains integral with the fuse body when the striker is actuated and another end fixed in a slot longitudinal of foot 12.

When the striker 3 is actuated, as shown in FIG. 2, while moving in direction A, it crosses the recess 7 of the cap 6, deforms the flexible disc 14 and strikes the central part of the circular base 11 integral with the foot 12. Under the effect of the shock, the zones of small section 11A-11D of the circular base 11 break and the foot 12 with the ogival head 10 of the part 9 are expelled from the tubular extension 8 and remain suspended, by the ribbon 13, to the fuse body 2 to visually signal the cut-out of the fuse.

As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the rear face of the ogival head 10a also a convex surface oriented on the side of the fuse body 2 which can prevent stagnation of water which could infiltrate into the extension tubular 8 when the fuse 1 is arranged vertically (the part 9 being arranged at the bottom).

With such an arrangement, the convexity of the ogival head 10 is oriented to the side of the opening of the tubular extension so that it is practically impossible to extract the visual signaling piece from the extension tubular. As a result, the fuse fitted with this visual signaling can be handled without risk of damage to part 9 used for visually indicate that the fuse has blown. Furthermore, because the base circular of this piece 9 is in abutment against a crown 6 or 7 fixed in the fuse body, it is also not possible to push this part into the fuse body, which helps maintain the integrity of the fuse striker during these handling phases. By providing a flexible disk 14 between the striker 4 and the visual signaling part, preserves the tightness of the fuse body even after the actuation of the striker which means that intervention on the fuse, after it has been cut, can be carried out within a certain time without risk of initiation of an electric current at the fuse.

The tubular extension can be an insert fitted on the cap 6 end of the fuse body allowing easy recycling of fuses existing medium voltage.

The part 9 can be produced by molding a plastic material.

The tubular extension 8 is shown here as an insert coming from fit onto the end cap of fuse 1. It is however understood that the invention also extends to an embodiment where the fuse body 2 and the tubular extension 8 form a single piece.
