Definitions
- the invention relates to a massage device. intended to be moved manually on the skin in order to form a skin fold by suction, and roll this latest.
- Such massage devices are of a common use for many years, in various fields such as: functional rehabilitation, sports, aesthetics and fitness ... They have was originally developed to automate the classic massage method known to physiotherapists under the name “palpate-roll", so as to increase the effectiveness of this technique and to remove the painful and traumatic phenomena of the digital pinch.
- Most of these massage devices have a hollow box defining a room with an open underside, means of connection of this box to a suction source able to generate reduced pressure inside the suction chamber, and dual gripping means case capable of allowing it to be moved over the skin.
- the operating principle of these massage devices is as follows: induced depression by the suction source sucks the skin inside the suction chamber and leads to the formation of a fold skin which is rolled when moving the case on the patient's body.
- the first type of devices described particularly in French patents FR 2,579,100 and FR 2.057.514, has a case with lower edges delimit an open face ensuring a tightness of the suction chamber during application of the housing on the skin, two parallel internal rollers housed in the housing and capable of forming a fold on the skin, and means motors capable of ensuring the displacement of this case.
- These motor means conventionally consist of means drive in rotation of one of the internal rollers.
- the main drawback of massage devices of this type resides in the presence of the driving means which on the one hand burden the cost price of these devices and secondly lead to the production of relatively bulky and therefore unwieldy.
- such massage devices cannot be used on skin previously coated with oil as conventionally applied for massages, because this oil would lead to a slip of the drive roller and therefore to a noticeable reduction in motor skills.
- such a massage device also has a major drawback. Indeed, from fact that the massage device is designed, by obligation, so as to obtain a relative seal between the walls housing and internal rollers, a portion of surface of these is subject to the reduced pressure prevailing between said rollers, while the rest of this surface is subjected to atmospheric pressure. These internal rollers are therefore subjected to a force suction, function of suction flow and sealing quality and increasing with them, which turns out to be a parameter that is difficult to control. It should be noted that in order to compensate for this force the massage device also includes elastic means arranged to urge the rollers internal so as to separate them from each other. However, such elastic means, even if they tend to compensate for the suction force, do not allow check the latter nor, therefore, the pinch skin which can therefore be painful and even traumatic.
- the present invention aims to overcome the disadvantages of known applications and aims to essential to provide a massage device devoid of motor means, with great flexibility of use and not likely to lead to painful pinching of the skin.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a massage device requiring only a small suction flow for skin fold formation.
- Such a massage device has, in in addition, great flexibility of use because the action of massage depends only on the reduced pressure prevailing in the suction chamber and therefore of a easily controllable and adjustable parameter.
- the massage devices current without motor means described in the preamble to this application, must be must have cylindrical rollers facing smooth rolling since sealing must be achieved between these rollers and the internal faces of the housing.
- this massage device can be designed so that the skin is only rolled up without being pinched or overwritten.
- the internal rollers are worn by fixed axes, arranged so that said rollers extend near the front walls of said housing.
- the massage device can be designed to so as to exert a controlled pinching of the skin.
- the internal rollers are carried by axes provided sliding ends in longitudinal housings formed in the side walls of said housing, and are associated with elastic means arranged to urge said rolls towards each other towards a position of stop, where they are separated by a minimum distance (x).
- the pinching of the skin is a function of the taring of the means elastic which can be easily calculated so avoid any risk of painful treatment.
- the elastic means comprise, at the level of each side wall of the housing, a spring connecting the axes of the internal rollers.
- the lower edges of the front and side walls of the housing are preferably coplanar.
- front walls of this case advantageously have a lower edge in the form of curvature lip combined with that of the outer rollers adapted to fit the outline of external rollers.
- These lips allow, in fact, to guide the skin towards inside the case and eliminate any risk of nipping between the outer rollers and the walls front.
- the lower edges of the side walls advantageously have a slice lower inclined towards the suction chamber bounded by said housing. This tilt allows give the application face of the housing on the skin, a shape allowing to perfectly fit the parts massages which turn out in practice to be generally of convex shape.
- the internal rollers have sections ends of frustoconical shape of decreasing section towards the destitute ends, so as to eliminate all risk of pinching the skin between these rollers and the side walls of the housing.
- the side walls of the housing have extensions in the extension of the front walls, so as to form two screeds for receiving the ends of the axes of the outer rollers.
- the means of connection of the housing to the source suction port has a middle port with a mouthpiece connection and formed in the upper part of said housing.
- the gripping means include a long tubular handle connected in upper part of a front wall of the housing, and housing a conduit opening into said housing and having a free end with connection end piece.
- the massage devices shown respectively in Figures 1-3, 4-6, 8 and 9 are intended for be moved manually over body parts to treat, and perform a massage action consisting of form and roll a skin fold.
- the massage device shown in Figures 1 to 3 includes, first, a housing 1 of general shape rectangular parallelepiped delimiting a suction chamber and comprising two front walls 2, 3, two side walls 4, 5, an upper wall 6, and an open lower face 7 for application to the skin of said housing.
- This housing 1 is, in addition, surmounted by a cylindrical transverse handle 8 of length greater than the width of said housing, connected to the upper wall 6 of the latter by a collar-shaped element 9.
- This wall upper 6 is, moreover, pierced with an orifice 6a opening respectively into the suction chamber and inside the handle 8.
- front walls 2, 3 of housing 1 have lower edges having the shape of lips 10 curving outwards.
- the lower edges of the side walls 4, 5 have a field 11 inclined at direction of the suction and form chamber concave transverse, so that the application face of the case 1 fits perfectly to the parts to be massaged generally convex shapes.
- This massage device also includes two parallel internal rollers 12, 13 fully housed inside the housing 1, and carried by fixed axes 14, 15 parallel to the front walls 2, 3, arranged so that said internal rollers extend close deposed front walls.
- these internal rollers 12, 13, adapted to form a fold skin and roll it up, are arranged so as to present a lower generator set back from lower edges 10 of the front walls 2, 3, at a distance (i) of the order of a few millimeters above of said lower edges.
- these internal rollers 12, 13 have end sections such as 12a in shape frustoconical of decreasing section in the direction of deposed ends.
- the massage device also has two external rollers 16, 17 mounted free to rotate around fixed axes 18, 19 parallel to axes 14, 15 of internal rollers 12, 13.
- These external rollers 16, 17 intended to allow the housing 1 to slide on the skin are arranged outside the housing 1 nearby front walls 2, 3 of the latter.
- the side walls 4, 5 of the housing 1 have, in part low, flanks such as 20, in the extension of each of the front walls 2, 3, forming two yokes of reception of the axes 18, 19 of these external rollers 16, 17.
- these external rollers 18, 19 are arranged so as to present a lower generator projecting from relative to the lower edge 10 of the neighboring front wall 2, 3, at a distance (e) of the order of a few millimeters below said lower edges.
- this massage device has an axial orifice 21 formed in one of the walls side of the handle 8, equipped with a nozzle 22 of connection to a suction source (not shown) such than an adjustable vacuum pump.
- Such a massage device has, in first place, the ability to be moved manually on the skin thanks to the presence of the rollers external 16, 17, subjected to atmospheric pressure Pa, and even if the part to be massaged is coated with oil.
- the massage device shown in Figures 4 to 6 is similar in principle to operation to that described above, but allows, in in addition, pinching the skin in a controlled manner without risking to indispose or injure the patient.
- This massage device also includes, like the previous one, two internal rollers 32, 33.
- these internal rollers 32, 33 are not fixed axis, but carried by axes 34, 35 whose ends extend through longitudinal lights coaxial 36, 37 arranged at a distance from each other in each of the side walls 26, 27 of the housing 23.
- each two axes 34, 35 are further connected by springs such as 38 adapted to stress the internal rollers 32, 33 towards each other towards a stop position where they are separated by a minimum distance corresponding to the longitudinal distance separating the two lights 36, 37.
- the springs extend to the outside of the side walls 26, 27 of the housing, and are each housed in a longitudinal groove 39 formed in a counterplate 40 attached to the side wall corresponding.
- one of the internal rollers 33 has a length substantially less than the width internal of the housing 23, so as to provide a clearance between the ends of said roller and the side walls 26, 27 of said housing. This game aims to allow you to exercise manually on the axis 35 of this internal roller 33 a force tending to bring it closer to the other internal roller, possibly with a view to increasing the massage pressure said internal rollers.
- the massage device comprises, firstly, a transverse plate 51 housed in the housing 23 and carried by a hinge pin transverse 52 extending in the upper part of said housing.
- This transverse plate 52 has a suitable height so that its lower end is located above the upper generatrix of the internal roller 33, and is extended downwards, at the level of each of its ends, by a rigid rod such as 53 arranged for come into contact with the axis 35 of said internal roller.
- the massager further comprises a manually operated lever 48 extending along the handle 30 and articulated inside of it, arranged, when actuated, to move the rod 49 a piston system, of a type known per se, and provided by example of a return spring, arranged so as to come in contact with plate 51.
- a manually operated lever 48 extending along the handle 30 and articulated inside of it, arranged, when actuated, to move the rod 49 a piston system, of a type known per se, and provided by example of a return spring, arranged so as to come in contact with plate 51.
- the device also has two external rollers 41, 42 similar to those of the apparatus previous, worn between flanks such as 43 forming receiving screeds of axes 44, 45 of these rollers External.
- Such a massage device whose arrangement of internal rollers 32, 33 and external rollers 41, 42 relative to the lips of the front walls 24, 25 is identical to that represented in FIG. 3, therefore makes it possible to massage by forming a skin fold and rolling of it. It also allows you to exercise controlled action of pinching the skin depending on the taring springs 38 tending to oppose the separation of the internal rollers 32, 33, and possibly increase manually this action by means of the lever 48.
- Figure 8 shows another variant according to which the internal rollers 54 have a rolling surface with ridges 54a parallel to the axis of rotation of said rollers.
- Figure 9 finally represents a final variant according to which the internal rollers 55 have a biconcave shape particularly suitable for marrying at best the massed parts generally of convex shape.
