Description

The invention relates to an antenna socket with the in the preamble of Claim 1 or 2 specified features. Such an antenna socket is out EP 0 163 276 A1. This antenna socket has an insert, which on a metallic support, which usually consists of die-cast zinc, two coaxial high-frequency sockets, in between two screw terminals for connecting the inner conductor of coaxial HF cables and on both sides this inner conductor terminals has two double clamps, each with two coaxial cables clamped and at the same time their outer conductors with ground, namely, can be connected to the metallic carrier of the insert. One to four coaxial cables can be plugged into such an antenna socket Choice and depending on the cable routing from one side or from the other side or be introduced from both sides. At the bottom of the metallic Carrier is a space for a circuit board with an electrical one Circuit provided, which is covered by a housing cover.

Such an antenna socket is used to receive an antenna high-frequency radio and television signals to a radio, a television, to transmit a video recorder or the like. For transferring of signals that are low-frequency compared to radio and television signals are like it is in the transmission of voice and data over telephone networks the case is, if unshielded lines (two-wire lines) are used in pairs, which is only covered with plastic for electrical insulation are. Several such line pairs are usually to a communication cable summarized and covered by a common coat.

In existing installations, the coaxial distribution networks for broadcasting and Television signals from the distribution networks formed from two-wire lines for analogue telephone connections, ISDN connections, data traffic and voice services separated from each other and have separate junction boxes. Future data services such as multimedia, full service network, pay per view, video on demand etc. make the installation of two-wire lines for bidirectional data traffic necessary parallel to coaxial distribution networks. In new buildings you install distribution networks from the start, in which coaxial lines and Two-wire lines are combined. In existing coaxial Distribution networks will be tried in parallel to the existing coaxial ones Retrofitting two-wire lines. For this purpose it is known to install a telephone socket next to the existing antenna socket, to which the retrofitted communication cable formed from two-wire lines is connected. That is with a fair amount of effort, with chiselling in masonry and connected with dirt.

A modular antenna socket is known from US Pat. No. 5,117,122, which is an insert for the connection of coaxial cables and another for has the connection of two-wire lines.

The present invention has for its object to show a way how the installation of connections for two-wire lines parallel to an existing coaxial distribution network can be facilitated.

2 angegebenen Merkmale. Vorteilhafte Weiterbildungen der Erfindung sind Gegenstand der Unteransprüche. This object is achieved by an antenna socket with the one in claims 1 and 2 specified characteristics. Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of subclaims.

According to the invention, for connecting one formed with two-wire lines Communication cable not a separate socket (telephone socket, ISDN socket) installed, rather an antenna socket extended that they are in addition to the usual one or two coaxial RF sockets one or more connection sockets for receiving plugs for the Data and information transmission using unshielded two-wire cables has, so that one and the same socket for simultaneous connection of coaxial lines and two-wire lines can be used. It is suitable therefore ideal for future data services, which in combination with broadcasting and television signals a bidirectional data traffic via telephone and Enable data networks.

The invention has significant advantages:
  • No additional junction box needs to be installed.
  • Chisel work in the masonry and the associated dirt are eliminated.
  • It is only necessary to replace an existing antenna socket or a part thereof with an antenna socket according to the invention.
  • Since the two-wire lines are routed into the antenna socket, they can be drawn into an existing conduit which opens into the antenna socket and has previously accommodated the existing coaxial cable or cables. This makes the subsequent installation of two-wire cables particularly easy and inexpensive.

It is particularly favorable to combine an antenna socket according to the invention to use with a composite cable in which a coaxial line and two-wire lines interconnected and shared by an insulating Coat are wrapped. Such cables can be in existing coaxial Distribution networks easily replaced with the coaxial cables previously available become. Compound cable consisting of a coaxial cable and an unshielded one Communication cables are already known. In one known as a Siamese cable Compound cables are a coaxial cable and an unshielded one Communication cables arranged side by side and shared by one surround another plastic jacket, which holds them together. Such Siamese cables are known for Ethernet applications and are very practical for networking computers when they are exposed or in easily accessible cable channels be relocated. However, the known Siamese cables have the disadvantage that that they are relatively wide and stiff and not equally flexible in every direction are. They are therefore not particularly suitable for this, they are laid in a curved manner To pull in conduit pipes as they are for electrical building installations incl. Telephone, radio and television cables are common. It becomes particularly difficult if with coaxial cables that are thicker than those for Ethernet applications, composite cables should be formed. There is a way out of this difficulty German patent application No. 196 44 filed by the applicant 740.2 by proposing a composite cable consisting of a shielded Line with an inner conductor, a dielectric surrounding it and one lying on the dielectric and coaxially surrounding the inner conductor Shielding conductor, from several unshielded, insulated jacketed cables, which directly on the shielding conductor or on one of the shielding conductors still covering plastic film, and from an insulating jacket, which envelops the whole of the lines. Such a composite cable is compared to a conventional Siamese cable, thinner, more flexible, lighter and cheaper to manufacture and can be more easily installed in already laid conduits move in.

There are preferably exactly two additional connection sockets in the antenna socket intended for unshielded cable pairs; they can be in Place antenna sockets with standardized dimensions and suffice for the envisaged data services. The two connection sockets could be placed at some distance from each other in the antenna socket, but are preferably arranged close to each other, best on a common circuit board, and together with this form an assembly, which is housed as such in the antenna socket. The circuit board expediently serves not only as a carrier for the connection sockets, but also for their electrical connection. Accordingly, the circuit board Connection points for the two-wire lines and from the connection points to the Conductor tracks connecting sockets. With the connection points the unshielded lines can be connected by soldering. Easier for that Mount the antenna socket, however, if the unshielded Cables connected using screw terminals or spring terminals are, which in turn are attached to the circuit board.

The antenna socket known from EP 0 163 276 A1, which is widely used has found a housing which is made up of a cylinder can be imagined, whose cylindrical peripheral surface to form two parallel side surfaces is cut off, so that the housing is approximately becomes oval. Along the flattened side surfaces can be connected Cable from the back of the insert to the one on the front of the insert located terminals are performed. This is also a Space given according to the invention preferably two connection sockets for to accommodate two unshielded cable pairs, preferably instead one of the clamping devices for the outer conductor of coaxial cables, which in the known antenna socket on both sides of the screw terminals for the inner conductor the coaxial cables are provided. If you make this replacement, then the coaxial cables can no longer be inserted from both sides into the Screw terminals are inserted, but there can still be two coaxial ones Cable inserted from one side into the antenna socket and additionally the Two-wire lines inserted from the other side and to the additional connection sockets can be connected. For the vast majority The present invention therefore offers a number of applications the modification of the known antenna socket an extremely inexpensive Possibility of an existing coaxial distribution network on the future Upgrade data services.

The circuit board with the additional connection sockets on it is preferred on the outside of the insert, e.g. attached to the rear housing cover. Another option is to use the die cast zinc Provide carrier of the insert tabs and these against the circuit board bend so that they press the circuit board against the insert and hold it there.

The insert parts in use today are not so deep that they fit into the masonry Usually used, made of plastic empty cans with standardized Fill in the dimensions completely. This allows advantageous further training the invention in that the length of the circuit board, which carries the additional connection sockets, dimensioned so that the circuit board after protrudes behind the housing of the insert part and on the protruding part Connection points are provided, in particular in the form of screw terminals or spring clips that point towards the center of the insert Side of the circuit board where they are when installing the antenna socket on least disturb.

Another inexpensive way to provide additional sockets consists of means for receiving the cover part of the antenna socket provide additional connection sockets. This allows additional space for the connection sockets are created if the insert part in an individual case should be so extensive that there is not enough space for additional connection sockets is available. However, the cover part is preferably developed in such a way that that only the cover part means for receiving and attaching the additional Has connection sockets. This has the great advantage that the insert part completely can remain unchanged that only that usually by injection molding Plastic cover part is to be replaced. This solution is special inexpensive and easy to assemble. The additional unshielded cables can easily be guided past the existing insert with the additional connected in the cover part to accommodate sockets and that Cover part then attached to the insert part as usual with a single screw become. The cover part receives for accommodating the additional connection sockets ideally a housing-like extension. As a result of the extension stands the cover part a little further from the wall than a conventional one Antenna socket, but that does not bother in most applications. In reality, the degree to which the installation is removed from the surface of the Wall protrudes, still enlarged by the plug, which is inserted into the socket become. In this regard, a further development of the invention is favorable in which the additional connection sockets are oriented so that their direction of insertion not parallel to the direction of insertion of the coaxial sockets, but in one acute angle is oriented to it. This not only reduces the distance from the Wall, but also facilitates handling with the different plug cores in a confined space.

The additional connection sockets are preferably snapped into the cover part. Latching springs that enable this can be done without any significant additional effort be molded during injection molding of the cover part. With this training the unshielded lines with the additional Connection sockets are connected before they are inserted into the cover and be fixed by locking.

Not only unshielded two-wire lines are used for the transmission of data considered, but also coaxial lines. Via coaxial lines can, for example, data modems, cable modems or integrated receivers Decoder (IRD) can be connected. To make this possible, the invention Antenna socket in an advantageous development next to one coaxial television connection socket and a coaxial radio connection socket a third coaxial HF socket, which is also used for the transmission of TV signals suitable is. This socket is conveniently not on the straight line between the two radio and television connection sockets, but away from it, preferably near the television connection socket. Around The space required for the third coaxial socket can be created on one do without the second connection socket for unshielded two-wire cables, so that only one connection socket is provided of this type. For one such antenna socket there are extremely diverse uses.

The invention is suitable both for antenna sockets which are "under plaster", as well as for those that are installed "on plaster".

The antenna socket shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 has an insert part 1 and a cover part 2. The insert part is for insertion into one in the masonry intended empty box 3 indicated in Figures 1 and 2 determined; in which Usually, a conduit opens, in which the to be connected Cables are laid. The insert 1 has a carrier 4, usually made of die-cast zinc manufactured, with two flange plates 5 and 6, like wings on one they connecting base part 7 are provided and for contact on the outside a wall are determined in which the insert 1 is to be used. On the base part 7 are two coaxial bushings 8 and 9 and two between them Screw terminals 10 and 11 are provided, which with inner conductor of the coaxial Sockets 8 and 9 are connected and for connecting the inner conductor of coaxial Cables serve, which with the help of a double clamp 12 on the base part 7 can be attached. The double clamp 12 also serves to to electrically connect the outer conductor of the coaxial cable to insert 1. At the bottom of the base part 7 there is a space for a circuit board. This space is closed by a metallic cover 13 and electrically shielded.

In addition, two claws 14 are screwed to the base part 7 in a diagonal arrangement, with which the insert 1 can be fixed in the empty box 3.

In addition to the two screw terminals 10 and 11, on their double clamp 12 side facing away, are two additional connection sockets 15 and 16 arranged, the plug direction to the plug direction of the coaxial sockets 8 and 9 runs parallel. With the additional sockets 15 and 16 it can are those for telephone access networks and for data transmission using unshielded cables are common. Are shown in the embodiment two 8-pin Western sockets, the contacts of which are not all occupied have to be. Such Western jacks are widely used. The two western jacks 15 and 16 are next to each other on a common circuit board 17 attached, which rests on the outside of the lid 13 and tabs 18 is held, which is formed on the insert part 1 and against the circuit board 17 are caulked.

Von der Klemmenleiste 20 führen Leiterbahnen zu den Anschlußbuchsen 15 und 16.The printed circuit board 17 has an extension 19 which extends over the rear of the cover 13 survives and carries a 4-pin terminal block 20 to four individual, not to be able to connect shielded cables. The terminal block 20 is located on the side of the circuit board 17 facing the cover 13. From the terminal block 20 lead conductor tracks to the connection sockets 15 and 16.

The cover part 2 is made of plastic as usual and is with one in the middle provided screw 21 screwed to the base part 7. It has about that two coaxial sockets 8 and 9 each have a circular opening 22 and 23 and a substantially rectangular opening 24, which the location and contour the sockets 15 and 16 are closely matched. The sockets 15 and 16 extend into the Opening 24 into it and are thereby additionally in their intended position held.

The exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 to 9 differs from the first embodiment in that the insert 1 according to the state the technology can be formed. Only the cover part 2 is modified according to the invention and provided with a housing-like extension 25, which next to the openings 23 and 24 is provided for the coaxial sockets and from this at an acute angle α to the plane of the two flange plates 5 and 6 extends away. The housing-like extension 25 serves to accommodate an assembly 26, which consists of two connection sockets 15, a 4-pin terminal block 20th and a circuit board 16, on which the terminal block 20 and the connection sockets 15 are attached, on the same side of the circuit board 17. On two opposite side walls 27 and 28 of the extension 25 tabs 29 are formed with inwardly projecting lugs 30, which are pushed resiliently outwards when the assembly 26 is pushed in, until they snap back at a corner 31 of the connection sockets 15. In this position, the assembly 26 in the extension 25 is on the one hand between the lugs 30 and opposite abutments 32 and on the other hand between the walls 33 and 34 oriented at the angle α.

Connecting unshielded cables to terminal block 20 can be done comfortably while the assembly 26 is not yet in the cover part 2 is pushed and engaged.

The third exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 10 differs from second embodiment in that the angle α, at which the extension 25 and with it the direction of insertion of the connector 15 are oriented, essential is smaller than in the example according to FIG. 9, so that the insertion direction almost perpendicular to the direction of insertion of the coaxial sockets, which is cheap is for a short distance of the installation in front of the wall. The from the Connection sockets 15, a terminal block 20 and a printed circuit board 17 are formed Module 26 is by means of a holder 37, which by a screw 38 on Base part 7 is fixed, and fixed with locking elements 39 in the extension 25. The The position of a plug 40 plugged into the connecting socket 15 is shown in broken lines indicated.

The fourth exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 11 and 12 differs differs from the second embodiment in that in the housing-like Extension 25 two separate chambers 35, 36 are formed, in each of which a single connector socket 15, 16 is snapped into place. The two connection sockets 15, 16 are accordingly spaced apart on a circuit board 17, which in the area between the connection sockets 15, 16 a Terminal block 20 for connecting unshielded cables.

The fifth exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 13 to 15 differs differ from the previous embodiments in that instead one of the two connection sockets for receiving a plug for the Data and information transmission using unshielded Two-wire lines, a third coaxial socket 41 is provided, which also for receiving a coaxial connector, for the transmission of data is as suitable as for the transmission of television signals and preferably the connection of data modems, cable modems or an integrated Receiver decoder (IRD) is used. To avoid having one for the third coaxial RF socket 41 certain plug into the coaxial television connection socket 8 or plugged into the coaxial radio socket 9 has the third coaxial RF socket 41 one of the other two HF sockets 8 and 9 different Connector standard, so that accidental incorrect connections are excluded are.
