Definitions
- Simple pulleys with oscillating flange are used in a conventional manner to produce lifting devices, in particular hoists, hauling systems, deflections, as well as devices for horizontal progression such as the zip line.
- the rotary roller is mounted idly on the axis of the pulley. If the devices must respond for safety measures to non-return functions, it is essential to associate with the pulley a blocker intended to block the rope when the handling force is released.
- the blocker is formed by a separate device connected to the pulley by a connecting carabiner. The assembly then presents a significant bulk, and requires the obligatory passage of the rope in the two devices in series.
- the object of the invention is to produce a pulley with pivoting flange and reliable non-return having a reduced bulk.
- the pulley according to the invention is equipped with more than one blocker integrated in the space, and comprising a movable trigger articulated on a second axis between an active blocking position and an inactive position for unlocking the rope, said second axis being tubular extending parallel to the first axis, and having an internal orifice intended to come into alignment with a conjugate hole of the second flange when the latter arrives in the vicinity of the closed position, so as to allow the hooking of a carabiner through the joint of the trigger, simultaneously causing the locking the second flange in the closed position.
- the attachment of the carabiner hook through the hinge pin reduces the size of the pulley while ensuring safety, because the retractable flange remains positively locked in the closed position preventing any escape of the rope.
- the second axis of the blocker is mounted in cantilever on the first flange, and comprises first means for axial positioning of the trigger, and second means for fitting the second flange in position closed.
- the first means for positioning the trigger in space are formed by a stop arranged in the vicinity of the end of the second axis opposite the second flange.
- the second means for fitting the second flange are constituted by an annular rim projecting from the stop and arranged coaxially with the orifice of the second axis.
- the means of articulation of the second flange on the first axis are arranged to allow, when the second flange is closed, opposite movements of spacing and approximation with respect to the second axis.
- the movable trigger advantageously comprises control means for ensuring the locking of the trigger in the inactive unlocking position inhibiting the action of the blocker. The use of the device is then reduced to a single pulley without blocker.
- a pulley designated by the general reference 10 has a first fixed flange 12 serving to support a first axis 14 of a rotating roller 16 and a second axis 18 of a trigger 20 for blocking constituting an integrated blocker 21.
- the two axes 14, 18 are fixed and extend parallel to each other in a direction perpendicular to the fixed flange 12.
- the roller 16 is mounted for free rotation on the first axis 14 with the interposition of a self-lubricating bearing 22 , which could of course be replaced by other running gear.
- the rotary roller 16 is provided with an annular groove 24 for guiding the rope, which can be blocked by a wedging surface 26 of the trigger 20 when the latter is in the active position.
- a second movable flange 28 is rotatably mounted on the end of the first axis 14 between a closed position ( Figure 1), and an open position ( Figure 9).
- the second flange 28 is biased in abutment against a shoulder 30 of the first axis 14 by the action of an elastic seal 32 of toric shape, which is arranged in an annular groove 34 of the flange 28, and closed by an external washer 36 integral of the first axis 14.
- the seal 32 can of course be replaced by a simple wavy elastic washer.
- the shoulder 30 protrudes slightly from the front face of the pad 22 so as to generate an axial clearance between the flange 28 and the pad 22 so as not to hinder the rotational movement of the movable flange 28 relative to the roller 16.
- the flanges 12 , 28 and the roller 16 are made of aluminum, while the trigger 20 is made of steel.
- the wedging surface 26 comprises a plurality of retaining pins 38 intended to wedge the rope in the active position, and a central slot 40 to facilitate the evacuation of mud or ice from the rope.
- the roller 16 and the blocker 21 are both arranged in a transverse space 41 formed between the two flanges 12,28.
- the second axis 18 of the trigger 20 is tubular and is mounted in overhang on the first flange 12.
- One of the ends 42 is crimped on the first flange 12, while the opposite end 44 has a stop 46 axial positioning of the body of the trigger 20, and a flange 48 for fitting the second flange 28 when the latter is moved to the closed position.
- the internal hole 50 of the second axis 18 has a circular section and allows the passage of a fastening carabiner.
- the establishment of the second flange 28 on the annular flange 48 of interlocking is possible thanks to a circular hole 52 provided at the free end of the second movable flange 28.
- the diameter internal of the hole is slightly greater than the outside diameter of the interlocking rim 48.
- the presence of the seal 32 in the groove 34 allows some friction braking of the rotation movement of the second flange 28 around the first axis 14, and in addition allows a slight alternating tilting movement of the second flange 28 in the vicinity of the closed position.
- the tilting movement is centered on the first axis 14, and is made possible by the deformation of the seal 32 ( Figure 3), alternately allowing a spacing in the direction of the arrow F1 for the alignment of the hole 52 with the orifice 50, and an approximation in the opposite direction indicated by the arrow F2 for the insertion of the hole 52 on the flange 48 for interlocking the second axis 18.
- the body of the locking trigger 20 is provided with a padlocking light 54 allowing the passage of a carabiner for locking the trigger 20 in the inactive position. After removal of the carabiner from the light 54, a return spring 55 biases the trigger 20 towards the active locking position, the spring being formed by a torsion spring inserted in a notch in the body of the trigger 20.
- the trigger 20 In the absence of a rope inside the space 41, the trigger 20 abuts on the roller 16. In the separated position, a rib of the trigger 20 abuts against a stopper stopper of the flange 28.
- the introduction of the rope 56 into the pulley 10 is carried out after prior lowering of the movable flange 28 towards the open position (FIG. 4), followed by the displacement of the trigger 20 towards the inactive position (FIG. 5) allowing the insertion of the cord 56 in the groove 24 of the roller 16.
- FIG. 6 shows a first application of a non-return deflection pulley, the movable flange 28 not being shown for reasons of clarity of the drawing.
- the rope 56 is in place on the roller 16, and the wedging surface 26 is in contact with the rope 56 following the return action of the spring 55.
- F a sufficient force applied to the right strand of rope 56
- Unblocking by pivoting in the anticlockwise direction of the trigger 20 is effected by the friction exerted by the rope 56 on the pins of the surface 26 when the roller 16 rotates clockwise.
- FIGS. 7 to 9 The closure of the second movable flange 28 is illustrated in FIGS. 7 to 9, the cord 56 not being shown.
- the movable flange 28 is firstly turned in the direction F3 around the first axis 14, followed at the end of the closing stroke by a slight movement of separation in the direction F1 to allow passage over the flange 48 for nesting the second hollow axis 18.
- FIG. 8 corresponds to FIG. 3 illustrating the next step of reclosing the movable flange 28, in which the hole 52 is in alignment with the orifice 50, and ready to be fitted onto the flange 48 of the second axis 18.
- FIG. 9 shows the final phase of closing the second flange 28, which is fitted onto the joint of the trigger 20 of the blocker 21.
- the hole 52 of the second flange 28 serves as a bearing for the flange 48 of the second axis 18, which avoids a cantilevered operation of the trigger 20.
- FIG. 10 represents two modes of use of the pulley 10 depending on whether the trigger 20 is free or locked.
- the passage of the carabiner 58 through the second hollow axis 18 and the hole 52 of the second flange 28 allows use in a non-return pulley.
- the trigger 20 is free, and is capable of blocking the rope.
- the hooking of the carabiner 58 through the articulation of the trigger 20 of the blocker 21 allows a reduction in the size of the pulley body 10.

- the device In the event of introduction of an additional carabiner 59 into the lumen 54 of padlocking the trigger 20 when this the latter is in the spread position, the device then behaves like a normal pulley without blocker. The trigger 20 remains locked in the open position, which permanently separates the wedging surface 28 from the rope 56.
- FIG. 11 shows another application of the pulley 10 as an additional blocker for a rise along the rope 56.
- the weight P is applied to the axis 18 of the trigger 20, and the rope 56 passes between the roller 16 and the wedging surface 26.
- FIG. 12 represents a one-way zip line application, in which the pulley 10 moves along a rope 56 between a starting point A and an ending point B located at a lower level.

Abstract
Description
- a pair of first and second flanges delimiting a transverse space in which is arranged a roller mounted for rotation on a first axis,
- a groove in the roller for guiding the rope,
- and means of articulation of the second flange on the first axis allowing relative movement of said flange between a closed position trapping the rope in space, and an open position for the positioning of the rope on the roller.
Simple pulleys with oscillating flange are used in a conventional manner to produce lifting devices, in particular hoists, hauling systems, deflections, as well as devices for horizontal progression such as the zip line. The rotary roller is mounted idly on the axis of the pulley. If the devices must respond for safety measures to non-return functions, it is essential to associate with the pulley a blocker intended to block the rope when the handling force is released. The blocker is formed by a separate device connected to the pulley by a connecting carabiner. The assembly then presents a significant bulk, and requires the obligatory passage of the rope in the two devices in series.
The object of the invention is to produce a pulley with pivoting flange and reliable non-return having a reduced bulk.
The pulley according to the invention is equipped with more than one blocker integrated in the space, and comprising a movable trigger articulated on a second axis between an active blocking position and an inactive position for unlocking the rope, said second axis being tubular extending parallel to the first axis, and having an internal orifice intended to come into alignment with a conjugate hole of the second flange when the latter arrives in the vicinity of the closed position, so as to allow the hooking of a carabiner through the joint of the trigger, simultaneously causing the locking the second flange in the closed position.
The attachment of the carabiner hook through the hinge pin reduces the size of the pulley while ensuring safety, because the retractable flange remains positively locked in the closed position preventing any escape of the rope.
According to a characteristic of the invention, the second axis of the blocker is mounted in cantilever on the first flange, and comprises first means for axial positioning of the trigger, and second means for fitting the second flange in position closed. The first means for positioning the trigger in space are formed by a stop arranged in the vicinity of the end of the second axis opposite the second flange. The second means for fitting the second flange are constituted by an annular rim projecting from the stop and arranged coaxially with the orifice of the second axis.
According to a preferred embodiment, the means of articulation of the second flange on the first axis are arranged to allow, when the second flange is closed, opposite movements of spacing and approximation with respect to the second axis.
The movable trigger advantageously comprises control means for ensuring the locking of the trigger in the inactive unlocking position inhibiting the action of the blocker. The use of the device is then reduced to a single pulley without blocker.

Referring to Figures 1 to 4, a pulley designated by the
The
The
The establishment of the
The closure of the second
Other applications are possible, in particular for hauling, rescue operations, and progression along a rope.
