Description

The present invention relates to a ski boot comprising a shell intended to surround the foot and the heel and a rod articulated on the shell and consisting of two parts, namely a first part forming a stirrup extending around and above of the heel and a second part surrounding at least the rear of the leg, these two parts being able to be made to rotate with one another by connecting means, at least in the closed position of the upper.

Patent FR 2 673 081 discloses a shoe the upper of which consists of a first part in the form of a collar having a large opening at the rear leaving a bridge in the form of a stirrup extending around and above the heel, and a second part in the form of a rear cover closing the opening in the manner of a box cover. The two parts of the rod are held together, in the closed position, by a loop.

From patent FR 2 654 903, a ski boot is also known, the collar-shaped rod of which is not articulated directly on the shell, but on a stirrup itself articulated on the shell.

Patent EP 0 086 908 also discloses a shoe whose rod in the form of a collar is provided at the rear with a pawl cooperating with a stop formed on the shell to maintain, at will, the rod in the descent position.

The invention proposes to secure the two parts of the rod in rotation by different means, means proposed so far and offering other possibilities of use.

The shoe according to the invention, and according to claim 1, is characterized in that said connecting means consist of a pawl articulated at the rear of the second part of the upper so as to be able to bear on the stirrup .

Other embodiments according to the invention are defined in claims 2 to 4.

These connecting means can be used alone or in combination with a loop.

The position of the pawl also allows it to be used simultaneously to lock the rod in the descent position. To this end, the pawl may have two spouts, one of which leaves the stop formed on the shell before the other spout leaves the stirrup, which allows the rod to tilt on the shell while retaining the closed rod, that is to say to pass from the descent position to a walking position.

Another possibility consists in using a ratchet whose active end is wide enough to come into abutment both against the stop of the shoe and on the stirrup. When the ratchet is moved away from the hull, its beak moves away first from the abutment of the hull while remaining in abutment on the stirrup.

The pawl can replace any other means of closing the two parts of the rod if these parts have sufficient rigidity.

Le dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, quelques formes d'exécution de l'invention. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, some embodiments of the invention.

Figure 1 is a schematic view of a ski boot showing a first embodiment of a connecting pawl between the two parts of the rod.

Figure 2 is a view similar to that of Figure 1 illustrating a second embodiment of the connecting pawl.

Figure 3 is a view similar to that of Figure 1 illustrating a third embodiment of the connecting pawl.

The shoe shown diagrammatically in FIG. 1 comprises a shell 1 with variable volume surrounding the foot and the heel and provided, at the rear, with a tongue 2. Such a shell is described, for example, in patent EP 0 286 586. On this shell is articulated a rod 3 by means of rivets 4. This rod 3 consists of a first part 5 in the form of a collar having a deep and wide notch at the rear leaving a stirrup 6 extending around and above the heel, and of a second part 7, also articulated in 4, in the form of a hood coming to close the rear notch of the first part 5 by resting edge-to-edge on the edges of this notch , as described in patent FR 2 673 081. The shell 1 has at the rear a stop 8 against which the stirrup abuts 6. In the lower part of the hood-shaped part 7 is mounted a pawl 9 articulated around of a horizontal axis 10. In the closed position of the shoe, shown in the drawing, the spout 9a of the pawl 9 is engaged in a notch 11 formed in the stirrup 6. This notch 11 has a substantially horizontal face against which the front face of the spout 9a rests. The pawl 9 is held in this position by a spring, for example a spring made of hunting horn surrounding the axis 10. To release the pawl from the stirrup 6, it suffices to exert pressure on the upper arm 9b of the pawl accessible through a cutout 23 of the cover 7.

In the position shown, the pawl 9 maintains the two parts 5 and 7 of the rod in the closed position. A pressure on the arm 9b of the pawl makes it possible to tilt the cover 7 backwards to put on and take off the shoes.

The shoe shown in Figure 2 has a shell 1 and a rod 3 similar to those of the shoe shown in Figure 1. The shell, however, differs in the presence of a rear stop 12 formed higher than the stop 8 of the figure 1 and having a different inclination. The upper 3 of this shoe is also formed of parts 5 and 7, but the stirrup 6 here has a vertical notch 13 in which engages a pawl 14 similar to the pawl 9 and articulated like it around an axis 10. The spout 14a of this pawl has such a width, seen in the plane of the drawing, that it can be both in abutment against the stop 12 and against the bottom of the notch 13 of the stirrup, as can be seen on the drawing. In this case, the stirrup 6 does not abut against the stop 12 of the shell, the locking of the rod 3 in the lowering position being ensured by the pawl 14. If, in the position shown in the drawing, pressure is exerted on the arm 14b of the pawl, the latter, in a first phase of its pivoting, first leaves the stop 12 of the shell, however, resting on the stirrup 6. The rod can thus straighten out by pivoting backwards and around its articulation 4 while remaining closed. This gives a rest or walking position. If one continues to press on the arm 14b of the pawl, the latter then leaves the stirrup 6 allowing the opening of the rod 3 by the tilting of the cover 7 towards the rear.

The three specific positions of the pawl 14 can be ensured for example by notching, directly between the arm 14b and the part 7 of the rod or by an auxiliary cam mounted on the part 7 and acting on the arm 14b. This cam can be actuated in rotation or in translation. Two of the specific positions of the cam can be ensured by stops and the third position, intermediate, by a notch or a hard point.

The shoe represented in FIG. 3 comprises a shell 1 identical to that of the second embodiment represented in FIG. 2. The upper of the shoe consists of a part in the form of a collar 15 similar to the collar 5 of the forms d 'previous execution and the rear notch also leaves a stirrup 16 extending above the heel. This stirrup 16 is located here a little above the stop 12 of the shell so as to leave a space between the lower edge of the stirrup 16 and the stop 12. The rear part 7 of the rod is also provided with 'a pawl 17 articulated around a horizontal axis 10. This pawl 17 has two spouts 17a and 17b located at different distances from the axis 10, the spout 17b being at a distance from the axis 10 a little more than double that of the beak 17a.

In the position shown in the drawing, the spout 17a is supported on the stirrup 16 and the spout 17b against the stop 12 of the shell. If pressure is exerted on the upper arm 17c of the pawl 17, the spout 17b begins by leaving the stop 12, the length of the arc which it travels during the rotation of the pawl being substantially greater than the length of the arc traversed by the spout 17a which remains in abutment on the upper edge of the stirrup 16. The rod 3 therefore remains closed but can straighten out by pivoting around its articulation 4 until the lower edge of the stirrup 16 comes meet the stop 12 of the hull. The straightening of the rod is therefore limited here.

If one presses more on the arm 17c of the pawl, its beak 17a leaves the stirrup 16 allowing the opening of the rod 3 by tilting back of its part 7. The different positions of the pawl 7 can be ensured as in the previous execution.

Ce cliquet 22 présente un bras d'actionnement 22b accessible à travers une découpe 23 du collier 18.The shoe shown in Figure 4 includes a shell 1 similar to that of the previous embodiment. On this shell 1 is mounted a rod 3 'consisting on the one hand of a collar 18, provided at the front with at least one tightening loop not shown and, on the other hand, of a part 25 forming a stirrup 19 extending around and above the heel part of the shell 1. The collar 18 is not articulated directly on the shell 1, but on the part 25, by means of rivets 21, the part 25 being itself same articulated on the shell 1 by means of rivets 20. In the rear part of the collar 18 is mounted a pawl 22 similar to the pawl 14 of FIG. 2 and articulated like it around an axis 10. This pawl 22, like the pawl 14, has a large beak 22a against which the upper edge of the stirrup 19 abuts when this spout is in abutment against the stop 12 of the shell 1. This pawl 22 has an actuating arm 22b accessible through a cutout 23 in the collar 18.

In the position shown in the drawing, the pawl 22 is both in abutment against the abutment 12 of the shell and against the upper edge of the stirrup 19, so that the collar 18 is held in the descent position, slightly inclined forward. By pressing the arm 22b of the pawl, it is possible, in a first phase, to release the pawl from the stop 12 while maintaining the support of the pawl on the stirrup 19. The collar 18 and the stirrup 19 remain integral with each other, but the assembly can straighten out by pivoting around the joint 20. This gives a rest or walking position. If the arm 22b is pushed further in, the spout 22a of the pawl leaves the edge of the stirrup 19, so that the collar 18, provided that its tightening loops are open, can be tilted back around its articulation 21 on the stirrup 19 so as to facilitate putting on and taking off.

The different positions of the pawl 22 can be ensured in the same way as in the second and third embodiment.

Claims (4)

  1. A ski boot comprising a shell (1) intended to surround the foot and the heel and a shaft (3; 3') articulated on the shell and consisting of two parts, namely a first part (5; 15; 25) forming a stirrup (6; 16; 19) extending around and above the heel and a second part (7; 18) surrounding at least the rear of the leg, these two parts being able to be fixed to each other with respect to rotation by connecting means, at least in the closed position of the shaft, characterized in that the said connecting means consist of a catch (9; 14; 17; 22) articulated on the rear of the second part of the shaft so as to be able to bear on the stirrup.
  2. The ski boot as claimed in claim 1, the shaft of which is equipped, at the rear, with means of locking in the downhill position, these means comprising firstly a stop (12) formed on the shell and secondly a catch articulated on the second part of the shaft, characterized in that the catch for locking the shaft on the shell is the same as the catch (14; 17; 22) fixing the two parts of the shaft together.
  3. The ski boot as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the stirrup (16) lies above the stop (12) on the shell and the catch (17) has two beaks (17a, 17b) situated at different distances from the axis of the catch, one (17a) of these beaks bearing against the upper edge of the stirrup and the other beak (17b) bearing against the stop (12) on the shell so that, when the catch pivots away from its locked position, the catch first of all moves away from the stop on the shell, and then from the stirrup.
  4. The ski boot as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the end (14a; 22a) of the catch (14; 22) has a thickness such that in the locked position it bears both against the stop (12) on the shell and against the upper edge of the stirrup (6; 19), so that when pivoting away from its locked position it first moves away from the stop on the shell and then from the upper edge of the stirrup.
