Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a timepiece movement intended to equip a reversible watch displaying on each of its two main faces different time information. It relates more particularly to a movement comprising two analog displays opposite hands indicating for example the time of two time zones, the hands of one of the displays advancing in opposite direction, but in synchronism, with those of the other display.
  • patent CH 57805 describes a double pocket watch face which indicates on each side a different time by means of a movement comprising two opposite displays whose hands rotate around an axis passing through the center of the watch.
  • the hands of one of the displays are rotated in a conventional manner, opposite one of the faces of the movement, by a minute shaft fitted with greasy friction in the shaft of the center wheel, also called the minutes, while the hands of the other display are driven, in the opposite direction, by a gear train which meshes with a return pinion fixed opposite the other face of the movement on the same minutes shaft.
  • the hands of one of the displays are the hands of a conventional display, driven in a known manner by a gear train from from the minute tree.
  • the hands of the other display are rotated, clockwise reverse of the previous needles, by a gear train arranged flat, so as to reduce the excess thickness as much as possible, on the other side of the movement.
  • the transmission of the rotational movement of a moving part of the timer train to the moving parts arranged on the other face is obtained by means of a through-lanterned carriageway joining the two faces of the movement and cooperating with an external control pusher.
  • the length of the gear train introduces a clearance, even greater than in the previous case, in the driving of the hands of the other display during the synchronization of the two displays.
  • the gears must have a low clearance and therefore meet strict manufacturing standards, resulting in a high manufacturing cost. Setting the time of each display separately is possible in this embodiment, but this thanks to the control button, the present of which complicates the construction of the movement as well as that of the watch case.
  • the timepiece-spring movement according to the invention delimited by two opposite main faces that are substantially planar and parallel, comprising two hour displays with hands, a spring barrel, a gear train comprising a large medium gear wheel integral with a pinion meshing with the barrel, a medium gear wheel integral with a pinion meshing with the large wheel mean and a gear for the minutes making one revolution per hour, and means for transmitting the energy accumulated in the spring to the balance-spring system and for rotating the hands of one of the displays opposite one of the faces, another gear train having the function of driving the needles of the other display opposite the other face in synchronism with these needles, means for winding up the barrel spring, and these setting means 'time of the two displays, is particularly remarkable in that the other gear train includes a gear toothed return which is integral in rotation with the large medium wheel.
  • An advantage of the invention comes from the fact that the gear train driving the needles of the other display has very few mobiles, and that these mobiles are arranged so as to increase the height of the movement as little as possible.
  • FIG. 1 An embodiment of a mechanical timepiece movement with balance-spring with two time displays according to the invention is shown in FIG. 1.
  • References 1 and 2 respectively designate the two main faces, substantially planar and parallel, of the movement.
  • Opposite side 1, or first side is arranged an analog time display, or first display, constituting the conventional display and comprising the hours hands 3h, minutes 3m and seconds 3s moving in front of a dial 4.
  • Next to side 2, or second side is another analog time display, or second display, comprising the 5h and 5m hour hands, move in synchronism but in the opposite direction to the previous hands and to indicate the time in any time zone.
  • the hands of the two displays pivot around of a common axis xx '.
  • a time-setting rod 6 with three axial positions allows the indications of the two displays to be corrected separately, and the spring to be wound up in a manual movement, but in this case it is an automatic movement comprising a oscillating weight 7.
  • Fig. 2 shows in a sectional view the arrangement of the main organs of the movement.
  • the centering of a spring barrel 10 is engaged with a pinion 11 integral with a large medium gear 12, the pinion and the wheel being supported by a large medium shaft 13 pivoting in bearings 14.
  • a pinion 15, integral with a medium gear 16 meshes, on the one hand, with the large medium wheel 12, and on the other hand, with a minutes gear 17, also called center wheel, performing one revolution per hour.
  • the minute wheel rotates, by means of a friction carriageway 18 comprising a pinion 19, the minute hand 3m of the first time display.
  • the mean wheel 16 is, for its part, engaged with a pinion 25 integral with a toothed wheel of the seconds 26.
  • the pinion 25 and the wheel 26 perform one revolution per minute and they are supported by an axis 27 on which is fixed the seconds hand 3s.
  • the seconds wheel 26 meshes with a pinion 30 fixed on a shaft 31 supporting an escape wheel 32.
  • an anchor 33 cooperating with the escape wheel, transmits the energy accumulated in the spring of the barrel 10 to balance-spring regulator system not shown.
  • the hands 5h and 5m of the second display are driven, for their part, by another gear train.
  • This second gear train which constitutes the invention proper, is described below.
  • a return toothed wheel 35 On the shaft 13 supporting the large medium wheel 12, is fixed a return toothed wheel 35.
  • the wheel 35 integral in rotation with the wheel 12, meshes with a toothed minute wheel 36 which rotates per hour around the 'axis xx'.
  • the wheel 36 is similar to the minute wheel 17 of the first gear train, and it drives in the same way as the latter the minute hand 5m of the second display by means of a friction carriageway 37 similar to the carriageway 18.
  • a timer gear 38 meshing with a pinion 39 of the roadway 37, drives via a pinion 40 an hour wheel 41 supporting the hour hand 5h via a barrel 42.
  • the correction of the indications of each time display separately is obtained by means of the time setting rod 6, which can occupy three axial positions, and an appropriate mechanism known per se.
  • the rod 6 has a cylindrical part 45, and a square section part 46.
  • On the cylindrical part freely pivots a pinion 47 having a square central opening and a radial peripheral toothing 48, the toothing engaging the first wheel. cog of a gear train formed of toothed wheels 49, 50 and 51, the last wheel meshing with the timer wheel 38.
  • a toothed wheel 55 meshes with the timer wheel 21 and, according to the axial position of the pinion 52, with the toothing 53 of the latter.
  • a rocker 56 is disposed in the groove 54 intended to move the pinion 52 axially in dependence on the axial position of the rod 6.
  • the time setting rod 6 is shown in the pushed position, or neutral position, in which its rotation does not cause any modification of the displays.
  • the pinion 47 is not driven by the square section 46 of the rod, while the pinion 52, while pivoting, does not mesh with the wheel 55.
  • the part 46 is just flush with the pinion 47, while the rocker 56 moves the pinion 52 so that its teeth 53 come into engagement with that of the wheel 55.
  • a rotation of the rod 6 then drives the wheel 55 and the hands 3m and 3h of the first display, without having any effect on those of the second display.
  • the square section 46 enters the square opening of the pinion 47, while the rocker 56 moves the pinion 52 so as to move the teeth 53 away from the wheel 55.
  • a rotation of the rod 6 has the effect of driving the pinion 47 and therefore the hands 5m and 5h of the second display, without moving those of the first display.
  • the mechanism so that the time setting rod 6 corrects one of the displays in one of the pulled positions, and the two displays in synchronism in the other pulled position.
  • the rod 6 should be able to occupy three drawn positions, the first to set the calendar to the date, the second and third positions then corresponding respectively to the first and second positions which have just been described.
  • a bridge 60 supports the oscillating mass 7 of known type. Arranged between the main face 2 and the hands 5m and 5h, it pivots around the axis xx '. A central hole in this mass gives passage to the organs driving the needles. A cog, not shown, connecting the mass 7 to the barrel 10, moreover, in known manner, reassembles the spring. In order to facilitate the assembly of the movement, the members referenced 36 to 41 and 51, are also arranged on the bridge 60. It then suffices to move the bridge 60 away, as shown in FIG. 3, to give access to the members previously cited.
  • the seconds hand 3s could pivot around an axis different from the axis xx ', and could for example be in the form of a small hand placed at 6 o'clock.
  • the second display could include a single hand 61, shown in FIG. 3, making one revolution per 24 hours and indicating the time zones on a dial 62.
  • the movement could be of the manual winding type, and in this case the hands 5m, 5h, 61 could also pivot around an axis other than the axis xx '.
