Description
The present invention relates to a coaxial electrical connector also performing a switching function.
On connaît déjà par exemple par EP-A-0 181 306 des connecteurs coaxiaux qui permettent de commuter une ligne électrique sur une autre ligne électrique lorsque les deux éléments du connecteur sont engagés l'un dans l'autre.EP-A-0 181 306 already discloses, for example, coaxial connectors which make it possible to switch an electrical line to another electrical line when the two elements of the connector are engaged one in the other.
Such connectors are in particular used to connect portable devices to their base while switching electronic functions of the portable device with those of the base, such as for example car radiotelephones.
Known connectors have the significant drawback of not providing good radio isolation between the two power lines to be switched.
The present invention aims to provide a simple and economical coaxial connector which performs a switching function between two power lines while ensuring good radioelectric isolation between them.
Such a coaxial electrical connector comprises, on the one hand, a first connector element comprising a central conductor and an external ground conductor separated by an insulator, and on the other hand, a second connector element comprising a central conductor and a conductor ground which surrounds the central conductor while being separated from the latter by an insulator, as well as a third conductor which is in electrical contact with the central conductor when the two connector elements are uncoupled, the first connector element being arranged for , when it is coupled with the second connector element, separate said central conductor and said third conductor from one another.
The coaxial electrical connector according to the invention is characterized in that, over most of its length, the third conductor of the second connector element is separated from the central conductor by the ground conductor.
In other words, the third conductor of the second connector element is arranged outside the coaxial line defined by the central conductor and the ground conductor.
It is understood that the connector according to the invention provides good radioelectric insulation between the two power lines, one comprising the central conductor and the other the third conductor, insofar as the ground conductor separates these two lines on the largest part of the length of the second connector element.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the ground conductor of the second connector element comprises two sections of different configurations, namely a rear section of semi-cylindrical shape defining a partition extending from the rear face of the connector element up to the point of contact between the central conductor and the third conductor and surrounding the central conductor, and a front section of cylindrical shape defining a partition extending from said point of contact to the front face of the connector element.
In a preferred variant of this embodiment, the rear section of the ground conductor comprises an additional partition which encloses the third conductor in order to protect the electrical signal conveyed, if necessary, by this third conductor.
