Description

The invention relates to a multilayer film, which enables a colored design of characters and symbols by means of a laser beam. Films labeled in this way are preferably used as labels.

According to the prior art, a multiplicity of multi-layer recording media and corresponding methods for labeling such recording media are known.

Laser-defined labels are burned into these rubber labels. For this purpose, a laser beam-resistant film material is coated with a rubber layer, and this layer is removed by laser beam in accordance with the intended typeface down to the film material. These burnt-out spaces are filled with a different colored rubber compound, pressed and vulcanized.

The disadvantage of this method is that several complex process steps are necessary to produce the multi-colored rubber label. In addition, the laser beam-resistant film material used as an auxiliary material makes the rubber labels more expensive, since it only has the task of supporting the rubber layers during the production of the rubber label.

The object of the invention is to provide a multilayer film which can be written on by means of a laser beam, which has a simple structure and allows the design of a label with colored letters and symbols.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a multilayer film which can be inscribed with a laser beam, one of which is under a top layer consisting of an aluminum substrate, which is thermally locally degradable by means of a laser beam, has a second layer of any coloration which does not absorb the laser beam used.

The invention will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment. The accompanying drawing shows in
  • 1 shows the schematic structure of a multilayer film prior to being inscribed using a laser beam,
  • Fig. 2 shows the schematic structure of the multilayer film after labeling by means of a laser beam.

The multilayer film described in the exemplary embodiment has a 6-layer structure. The top of the multilayer film is formed from a cover layer 1, which consists of an aluminum substrate. A color layer 3 made of acrylic is applied to the lower side of the cover layer 1 by means of an adhesive 2. The intended use of the multilayer film according to the invention as adhesive labels results in the need for an adhesive layer 5 on the back of the color layer 3, which is applied by means of a connecting layer 4. A carrier layer 6, which is placed on the adhesive layer 5, forms a protective cover which is removed when the label is used. This makes the label self-adhesive and easy to stick on the label holder.

When the multilayer film is inscribed with the laser beam with a preferred wavelength of 1.06 μm, the programmed characters and / or symbols are applied to the top layer 1. Local thermal degradation of the irradiated areas of the top layer 1 takes place, i.e. they evaporate and the underlying color layer 3 is exposed.

The multilayer film according to the invention is guaranteed by the Choice of the top layer 1 made of aluminum and the underlying color layer 3 of any color a high-contrast and easily recognizable image of the information generated on the label.

It goes without saying that various other modifications, particularly relating to the color layer and the underlying adhesive and backing layers, are obvious to those familiar with the art and can be easily made by them without departing from the scope of this invention to deviate. Accordingly, it is not intended that the scope of the claims appended hereto be limited to the description as set forth above, but rather that the claims should be construed to encompass all features of patentable novelty that are present in the present invention including all features that are treated as equivalent thereof by those familiar with the art to which this invention belongs.
