Abstract

A cork catcher comprising a cap-shaped plastic web material designed to be placed over the neck of a bottle of sparkling wine to catch the cork without muffling the pop when the bottle is uncorked.

Description

The invention relates to an object which eliminates the danger when uncorking bottles containing sparkling wine and retains the effect of the explosion which is a sign of appreciated joy.

Currently, we rely on the hand address to eliminate the violent force of the plug that comes out. We also use a "pliers" similar to the nutcracker or a special corkscrew which is used by the sommelier for champagne.

In this case, the use of the hand or of the said tools has the drawback of suppressing the explosion and consequently of eliminating the desired noise.

However, the majority of people rely dangerously on the address of the hand to divert the violence from the stopper in order to keep the noise of the initial stopper.

In all cases, the use of the hand is not reliable because it is not able to control the cap. This way you risk injuring people accidentally.

The aforementioned tools are very safe. However they are used very rarely to allow the explosion.

The object of this invention is to eliminate the drawbacks mentioned above.

The invention solves the problem which consists in covering the stopper while retaining the conventional noise when uncorking sparkling wine bottles by means of an object made in the form of a cap constituted by a mesh, preferably of light plastic material and flexible, that you have to put on the neck of the bottle when the metal stop or "small cage" is removed from the cap and you are ready for uncorking.

By acting on the plug through the mesh of the fishnet constituting the object in the form of a cap, the stopper, which is violently pushed by the fermentation gas, leaves in the usual way making the desired conventional noise and remains inside the cap where the elasticity of the mesh immediately reduces it the push and hold it between its folds.

Therefore, the remaining strength of the plug is insignificant at the time it is retained. This is why the object, which is very light, does not turn into a blunt object. It is therefore safe even if inadvertently it is not retained.

One way of carrying out the invention is to introduce a cylinder-shaped mesh into another mesh of substantially identical shape. After that, they are tied on one side, so that inside they form flexible folds, and open on the other side.

The invention is characterized by the ease of its realization and by its low cost; it is simple to carry out and requires neither preparation for use nor fixing means.

In addition the object of the invention is not bulky because once used, it instantly leaves the bottle free and does not interfere with the user when he pours the sparkling wine into the glasses. It does not break when it falls.

The drawings illustrate by way of indication, but not in a limiting sense, a preferred embodiment of the invention.

Figure 1 shows a stopper having the shape of a cap.

La figure 2 représente la section du capuchon selon la ligne AB.Figure 2 shows the section of the cap along the line AB.

La figure 3 montre le capuchon enfilé sur le goulot de la bouteille, le bouchon étant libéré de la cage qui en recouvre; elle montre clairement le bouchon à travers le résilles.FIG. 3 shows the cap threaded onto the neck of the bottle, the cap being released from the cage which covers it; it clearly shows the cork through the fishnet.

The equipment of the invention described above is replaceable by other technically equivalent ones; the shape and dimensions of the object of the invention may change as a result of specific aesthetic requirements, without however departing from the scope of protection of the invention.

Claims (4)

  1. Cork catcher, to be used when uncorking a bottle of sparkling wine, characterized by the fact that it is shaped as a hood and consists of two nearly indentical tubular nets which go the one inside the other, preferably made of light plastic material, that the hood is closed on one end, so as to form a plurality of flexible folds inside, and open at the opposite end in order to envelop the neck of the bottle, and that the said hood cannot be fixed to the bottle.
  2. Cork catcher according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that it is long enough to let a cork out of the bottle freely at the moment of expulsion and to let the alcoholic fermentation gas pass so as to hear the desired pop.
  3. Cork catcher according to claims 1, 2, characterized by the fact that the flexible folds inside the hood help to soften the impact of the cork.
  4. Cork catcher according to one of the claims 1, 2, 3, characterized by the fact that, through the meshes of the nets, the neck and the cork of the bottle can be clearly seen, and the cork can be gripped via the meshes by holding the meshes whilst opening the bottle.
