Claims (10)

  1. Method for weaving a face-to-face pile fabric with single-weft weave on a single-gripper weaving loom or a double-gripper weaving loom with alternating pick cut-out, in which the working pattern repeat (A, B, C, D) of the pile warp threads (P1,...P5) running between top fabric (BW) and bottom fabric (OW) extends only over three picks, while the working pattern repeat of the basic weave of the top fabric (BW) and the bottom fabric (OW) produced from weft threads (IB1, IB2...; I01, I02...) and basic weave warp threads (SB, BB; SO, SB) in each case extends over a number of picks other than three.
  2. Method according to Claim 1, characterized in that the working pattern repeat of the basic weave extends over four picks.
  3. Method according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that each possible working pattern repeat (A, B, C, D) extending over three picks is fixed for each possible pile warp thread (P1, ...P5) by a predetermined command sequence described as an apron, which determines the position of the particular pile warp thread (P1,...) for each pick.
  4. Method according to Claim 3, characterized in that 36 aprons are available, the pile warp thread (P1,...) which is pattern-forming in the present pattern repeat being indicated by the number 1, the pile warp thread (P1, ...) which was pattern-forming in the previous pattern repeat being indicated by the number 2, the pile warp thread (P1,...) for tying into the bottom fabric (OW) in the present pattern repeat being indicated by the number 3, the pile warp thread (P1,...) for tying into the top fabric (BW) in the present pattern repeat being indicated by the number 4, and O indicating a position of the respective pile warp thread (P1,...) below the respective weft thread (IB1,...; IO1,...), while B indicates the position of the respective pile warp thread (P1,...) above the respective weft thread (IB1,...; I01,...):

  6. Method for weaving a face-to-face pile fabric according to Claim 4 or 5, characterized in that in the case of apron 17 the positions of pile warp thread 2 are changed to B - B - O (above - above - below) if apron 30 immediately follows apron 17, pile warp thread 2 in the case of apron 17 corresponding physically to pile warp thread 1 in the case of apron 30, in that in the case of apron 20 the positions of the pile warp thread 2 are changed to B - O - B (above - below - above), if apron 29 immediately follows apron 20, pile warp thread 2 in the case of apron 20 corresponding physically to pile warp thread 1 in the case of apron 29, and in that in the case of apron 29 the positions of pile warp thread 2 are changed to O - B - O (below - above - below), if apron 18 immediately follows apron 29, pile warp thread 2 in the case of apron 29 corresponding physically to pile warp thread 1 in the case of apron 18, and in that in the case of apron 30 the positions of pile warp thread 2 are changed to O - O - B (below - below - above), if apron 19 immediately follows apron 30, pile warp thread 2 in the case of apron 30 corresponding physically to pile warp thread 1 in the case of apron 19.
  7. Method according to one of Claims 3 - 6, characterized in that, on the basis of a card design indicating a patterning of the face-to-face pile fabric to be woven, the aprons are determined by the following steps:
    (a) starting from a specific initial pick, the successive picks are divided into groups of three (working pattern repeats) and, starting from an initial index A, are provided with rising index (B, C, D) until the first working pattern repeat recurs, following which one begins again with the initial index A, the working pattern repeats being distinguished from one another by the position of the three weft threads (IB1,...) above or below at least several tension warp threads (SB, SO) and tied-in pile warp threads (P1,...) of the top and bottom fabric (BW, OW);
    b) for each working pattern repeat of the various working pattern repeats occurring-, a number of possible aprons are set up for the positions of the pile warp threads (P1,...) in each working pattern repeat; and
    c) in the conversion of the card design to aprons, for each row each point of the card design is allocated an apron each time over three picks through a derivation of the relevant working pattern repeat and through a selection of the suitable apron for this point from among a number of aprons which could be used for this working pattern repeat.
  8. Method according to Claim 8, characterized in that in step b) for each possible pile warp thread configuration in a working pattern repeat several aprons are set up according to the possible combinations of each pile warp thread configuration with pile warp thread configurations from an immediately preceding working pattern repeat, following which in step c) the apron which is suitable for the combination of the present pile warp thread configuration with the immediately preceding pile warp thread configuration is selected.
  9. Method according to Claim 7 or 8, characterized in that, if over three successive picks of the particular backing fabric a non-pattern-forming pile warp thread (P1,...) of the top or bottom fabric (BW, OW) always lies on the outside with respect to the fabrics of these three picks which lie opposite each other and are viewed as common fabrics, the apron is corrected in such a way for the middle pick of the three picks that the non-pattern-forming pile warp thread (P1,...) is tied in at the inside of the middle pick of the backing fabric in question.
  10. Face-to-face pile fabric manufactured by the method according to one of the preceding claims.
