Description

The invention relates to a keyboard that can be assembled from individual buttons that can be switched by pressing button caps, and is protected against splashing water, in particular for machine tool and robot controls Keys are arranged on a circuit board and the key caps are stored in a keyboard field.

Such keyboards for harsh industrial use have long been commercially available. In this context, reference is made to actuators according to DE-OS36 02 245. A disadvantage, however, is the great technical effort that must be made with such keyboards, in particular for a mechanical component with sufficient tension for the restoring force for the keys.

The object of the invention is to design a keyboard of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the requirements for rough industrial use can be met in the simplest possible way.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that between the circuit board and the keypad, the buttons are placed laterally surrounding frames and that the sealing film is stretched over the frame in the manner of an eardrum. This sealing film in the manner of an eardrum protects all the buttons arranged in the frame from environmental influences and, due to its mechanical tension, realizes the resetting of the actual sensor caps.

The fact that the sealing film is transparent and thus releases an optical path, it is possible from To transmit optical signals inside the keyboard or vice versa. In this context, it has proven to be particularly advantageous for display purposes that light-emitting elements are provided in the web area of the frame and that corresponding light outlets are provided on the front of the keyboard field. In order to improve the recognizability of the emitted light for the observer, it proves to be advantageous in this context that light guide bodies are arranged at the light exits. With the help of these light guide bodies, a defined radiation behavior of the light can be easily realized.

Because a honeycomb body composed of individual frames can be assembled in a modular manner, different types of keyboards can be realized relatively easily. Furthermore, a tolerance compensation, which is desired, for example, in the case of unplanned printed circuit boards or front plates, is made possible by lateral displacement of the individual frames.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and is explained in more detail below.

The illustration shows, in the form of an exploded drawing, sections of a printed circuit board LP on which a key T can be placed, the connection contacts of which, which are not visible in the illustration, grip through bushings D and then disappear with the conductor arrangement of the printed circuit board LP are. The key T is pressed by depressing a plunger ST, which is symbolically indicated in the illustration by a cylinder body. The button T sitting directly on the circuit board LP in the assembled state is surrounded by a frame R, which can be part of a honeycomb structure made up of several frames, so that this frame R also rests directly on the circuit board LP. The frame R is also supported against a front panel FP, a sealing film DF being clamped between the front panel FP and the frame R with fastening means not shown for the sake of clarity. The sealing film DF now stretches over the frame R in the manner of an eardrum such that the plunger ST has not yet been actuated. It is only when the sealing film DF is pressed down in the direction of the plunger ST that a switching process is triggered. This depressing takes place with the aid of a tactile cap TK, which is mounted in a recess A of the front panel FP. A reset force for the keycap TK is ensured by means of the sealing film DF.

The process for actuating the key T then proceeds as follows: the push-button cap TK held in its starting position by the sealing film DF is moved towards the plunger against the pressure of the so-called eardrum, the plunger ST releases the contact of a contact of the key T off and when the operator reduces the pressure on the tactile cap TK, this is first reset to its initial position via the tappet restoring force and then via the restoring force of the sealing film DF.

The sealing film DF thus has a dual function. It seals the electrical elements of the keyboard against environmental influences and it realizes the restoring force for the probe caps. At this point it should be pointed out again that in the exemplary embodiment only a single key of a keyboard is shown. Of course, many keys can be arranged next to each other in a matrix, so to speak, and are only covered by a single sealing film if necessary.

In the event that the key caps, for example the key cap TK, are to be removed from the keyboard, be it that the key caps have been mechanically damaged or that the keyboard should be rewritten using new key caps, it is possible to remove the key caps towards the front of the keyboard. For this purpose, the push-button caps, for example the push-button cap TK, have a form fit that can be overcome from the front with respect to the recess A of the front panel FP. This can be designed, for example, so that notches R1 and R2 of the tactile cap TK are provided with notches E (visible with notch R1), so that the notches R1 and R2 can be deformed by means of a tool under lateral pressure in order to cancel the latching effect. The tactile cap TK can then be removed from the recess A.

The illustration also shows that R light-emitting diodes, e.g. the light-emitting diode LED can be arranged which, when the sealing film DF is transparent, lead to the keyboard surface via openings in the front panel FP. Additional light guide bodies LL can be provided in the front panel FP for the defined guidance of the light exit.
