Definitions
- the invention relates to a cash drawer with a box-shaped lower part and a pivotally hinged lid thereon, the lower part having a first area with a plurality of compartments arranged one behind the other and a second area which is intended for receiving a removable cash insert.
- the compartments are separated from one another by partitions directed parallel to the front wall of the lower part facing the operator.
- a cash drawer of the type mentioned above is known for example from German Offenlegungsschrift 29 07 643.
- compartments for holding standing bills are arranged parallel to the front wall of the cash drawer.
- hard currency compartments are arranged next to and behind one another.
- a disadvantage of the arrangement of the banknote compartments is that the banknotes standing in the compartments are difficult to grasp, since they fall over when the compartments are filled to a small extent, which also makes it difficult to insert received banknotes into the compartments. This difficulty is exacerbated by the fact that folded bills resume their shape given by the kinks in the compartment and that a few bills also accept them This will completely fill in the compartments.
- the invention is based on the object of designing a cash drawer of the type mentioned in such a way that with a small overall size of the cash drawer base there is a sufficient number of easily accessible compartments for receiving bank notes, in which the bank notes are arranged in a manner that is easy to grasp can and in which the notes can also be conveniently classified.
- a pressure plate is pivotally pivoted about an axis parallel to this edge at or near the upper edge of the boundary wall of the compartment remote from the operator, the width of the pressure plate measured perpendicular to the axis being greater than the width of the respective compartment is and the pressure plate is biased upwards by spring means.
- the pressure plate holds the bills in the respective compartment in an approximately vertical position and allows the bills to be easily removed from the respective compartment. Since the banknotes stand vertically in the respective compartment and lie against a partition, new banknotes can also be conveniently sorted into the compartment, with the pressure plate being pressed down against the action of the spring means.
- the spring means are each formed by a leaf spring which is connected at one end to the pressure plate and with its other free end against the wall to which the pressure plate in question is articulated.
- the pressure plate and the leaf spring can expediently be formed in one piece, wherein the pressure plate can consist of both steel and plastic.
- the lower part has a plurality of guides for each partition, so that the partitions are adjustable in the sense of changing the respective compartment width.
- the dividing walls can also be arranged in the lower part in such a way that they can be pivoted between a position perpendicular to the bottom of the lower part and a position inclined relative to the latter towards the front wall. This can be ensured by suitable guides or stops in the area of the side edges of the partition walls.
- the pressure plate can have a cutout in a central region near the axis, which gives a view of the compartment behind it or the banknotes standing in this compartment, so that the operator can recognize which banknotes are in the respective compartment.
- a further compartment parallel to the rear wall and delimited by the latter can be provided in the second region of the lower part.
- FIG. 1 shows a box-shaped lower part of the cash drawer, generally designated 10, with a base 12, a front wall 14 and a rear wall 16 and side walls 18 and 20 (FIGS. 4 and 5).
- a hinged lid 24 is pivotally articulated about an axis 22 parallel to this edge, which is shown in its open position.
- the lower part comprises a first region, designated by 26, with bill compartments 28, which are separated from one another by partitions 30 directed parallel to the front and rear walls, and a second region, designated by 32, in which a coin insert 34 with coin compartments 36 is removably arranged, the height of the cash deposit being less than the height of the lower part 10, so that at least one base compartment is formed between the bottom of the cash deposit 34 and the bottom 12 of the lower part 10.
- the hard cash insert 34 covers the entire floor area of the second area 32, while in the embodiment according to FIG. 5, a bill compartment 38, which extends over the entire height of the lower part 10, also accommodates large standing receptacles, which extends over the entire height of the lower part 10 Banknotes is provided.
- grooves 40 are formed, parallel to the rear wall 16, into which the partition walls 30 can be set. Several grooves 40 are provided for each partition 30, so that the respective Partition can be adjusted in the sense of changing the compartment width.
- an intermediate wall 42 separating the first area 26 from the second area 32 and in the side wall 18 of the lower part 10, which is not shown to the viewer of FIG. 1 vertical slots 44 are formed, into which projections or pins 46 provided on the side edges of the partition walls can engage holding the partitions in their upright position. As can be seen in FIG. 1, the slots 44 are each assigned to a groove 40 in the base 12.
- the partition 30 can also be inserted with its respective pin 46 into a slot 44 corresponding to an adjacent groove, whereby the partition 30 is held in an inclined position, as is shown for the middle partition in FIG. 1.
- an extension 48 can be provided at the lower end of the respective slot 44.
- the partition walls 30 each have extensions 50, on which a pressure plate 52 is pivotally articulated, which is shown in FIG.
- the extensions 50 of the respective partition wall have hemispherical nipples 54 which engage in corresponding hemispherical recesses 56 which engage in tongues 58 formed by recesses on the pressure plate 52, as shown in FIG. 2.
- the partition is indicated by dashed lines.
- the pressure plate 52 can thus be clipped onto the partition wall 30 so that it can be pivoted about the axis running through all hemispherical nipples 54.
- Spring tabs 64 are formed on both sides of a center line 60 perpendicular to the pivot axis by incisions 62 directed perpendicular to the axis from the edge of the pressure plate remote from the axis.
- a leaf spring 68 which is connected to the spring tab 64 only at its end remote from the axis, is arranged within the U-shaped cut-out 66 from the pressure plate.
- the leaf spring 68 is bent out of the plane, as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 3. Both in the manufacture of the pressure plate from steel and from plastic, the spring properties of the leaf spring result from the respective material of the pressure plate.
- the pressure plate is clipped onto the respective partition wall in such a way that the respective leaf springs 68 rest with their free ends on the respective partition wall and thus press the pressure plate upward.
- the respective pressure plate 52 Since the pressure plate as a whole is wider than the width of a bill compartment 28, the respective pressure plate 52 is pressed with its free edge against an adjacent partition 30 from below. Notes can be inserted into the respective compartment from above, with the pressure plate 52 being pushed downward. When the pressure plate is released, it springs up and presses the notes in an upright position against the adjacent partition. The notes can thus be inserted in a simple manner, the insertion being facilitated in that the notes already in the compartment are flat and vertical in the compartment. The notes can also be easily gripped and pulled out of the compartment. In order to make the notes in the respective compartment easier to recognize, a V-shaped one is in the pressure plate of an adjacent compartment Cutout provided, which can be clearly seen in Figure 2.
- the pressure plate of the compartment 28 directly adjoining the rear wall 16 is articulated on a boundary wall which corresponds to a partition wall and lies directly against the rear wall 16.

Description
The invention relates to a cash drawer with a box-shaped lower part and a pivotally hinged lid thereon, the lower part having a first area with a plurality of compartments arranged one behind the other and a second area which is intended for receiving a removable cash insert. The compartments are separated from one another by partitions directed parallel to the front wall of the lower part facing the operator.
A cash drawer of the type mentioned above is known for example from German Offenlegungsschrift 29 07 643. Here, compartments for holding standing bills are arranged parallel to the front wall of the cash drawer. Furthermore, from the operator's point of view, to the right of the bill compartments, hard currency compartments are arranged next to and behind one another. A disadvantage of the arrangement of the banknote compartments is that the banknotes standing in the compartments are difficult to grasp, since they fall over when the compartments are filled to a small extent, which also makes it difficult to insert received banknotes into the compartments. This difficulty is exacerbated by the fact that folded bills resume their shape given by the kinks in the compartment and that a few bills also accept them This will completely fill in the compartments. On the other hand, in the case of fuller compartments, the relatively thin dividing walls between the bill compartments are not able to separate the bundles of bank notes in the individual compartments, so that when issuing change, a bill from the neighboring subject is easily inadvertently included.
This danger is further increased by the fact that the finer denomination of the banknotes - in Germany e.g. the 200 DM bill was added - the number of bill compartments increased and their dimensions became smaller with the same total volume of the cash drawer.
The invention is based on the object of designing a cash drawer of the type mentioned in such a way that with a small overall size of the cash drawer base there is a sufficient number of easily accessible compartments for receiving bank notes, in which the bank notes are arranged in a manner that is easy to grasp can and in which the notes can also be conveniently classified.
This object is achieved in that a pressure plate is pivotally pivoted about an axis parallel to this edge at or near the upper edge of the boundary wall of the compartment remote from the operator, the width of the pressure plate measured perpendicular to the axis being greater than the width of the respective compartment is and the pressure plate is biased upwards by spring means.
This design of the compartments allows the provision of a sufficient number of compartments without the depth of the cash drawer having to be increased significantly. The pressure plate holds the bills in the respective compartment in an approximately vertical position and allows the bills to be easily removed from the respective compartment. Since the banknotes stand vertically in the respective compartment and lie against a partition, new banknotes can also be conveniently sorted into the compartment, with the pressure plate being pressed down against the action of the spring means. Preferably, the spring means are each formed by a leaf spring which is connected at one end to the pressure plate and with its other free end against the wall to which the pressure plate in question is articulated. The pressure plate and the leaf spring can expediently be formed in one piece, wherein the pressure plate can consist of both steel and plastic.
In order to be able to adapt the compartments for receiving the banknotes to a certain extent to the banknote requirements, it is expedient if the lower part has a plurality of guides for each partition, so that the partitions are adjustable in the sense of changing the respective compartment width. The dividing walls can also be arranged in the lower part in such a way that they can be pivoted between a position perpendicular to the bottom of the lower part and a position inclined relative to the latter towards the front wall. This can be ensured by suitable guides or stops in the area of the side edges of the partition walls.
The pressure plate can have a cutout in a central region near the axis, which gives a view of the compartment behind it or the banknotes standing in this compartment, so that the operator can recognize which banknotes are in the respective compartment.
To accommodate particularly large notes, a further compartment parallel to the rear wall and delimited by the latter can be provided in the second region of the lower part.

According to FIGS. 4 and 5, the lower part comprises a first region, designated by 26, with
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 4, the
In the
At their upper edge, the
As can be seen in Figure 1, the pressure plate is clipped onto the respective partition wall in such a way that the
As FIG. 1 shows, the pressure plate of the
