Description

The present invention relates to a female electrical contact member.

The invention relates to a female electrical contact member according to the first part of claim 1.
Such an element is known from FR-A-2 360 188.

The prior art knows a large number of female electrical contact members of the above type. Generally, in order to ensure a good electrical connection with the male organ, this must be pinched with a certain pressure so that the engagement of the male organ requires a certain force; such an arrangement does not lend itself well to mechanization of the assembly of the two contact members.

One of the aims of the invention is to remedy this drawback.

The female contact member according to the invention is of the type produced from a metal blank having a certain elasticity, said blank being cut and folded so as to present, at one end, means for its connection to a circuit electric, while at the other end it is shaped to present a rectangular section conduit intended to receive a male electrical contact member, two opposite walls of the conduit being extended to form elastic blades which are bent inside said conduit in order to form an elastic clamp for clamping said male member and is characterized in that each elastic blade has on its face turned opposite the other elastic blade, at least two projections, each projection of one of the blades being arranged to coincide with the corresponding projection of the other blade, said projections taking the shape of a pyramid. This reduces the effort required to insert the male organ into the conduit of the female organ while achieving a good electrical connection.

Finally, each elastic blade has, near its free end, two ears folded to extend perpendicular to said blades and, on the side of the side walls, that said blades extend. This limits the travel of the elastic blades and prevents them from being forced.

The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to a particular embodiment given by way of example only and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a plan view showing a blank from which has been cut an improved female contact member according to the invention.

Figure 2 est une vue en perspective montrant la réalisation de l'organe de contact de la figure 1.Figure 2 is a perspective view showing the embodiment of the contact member of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a perspective view of one of the elastic blades.

Figure 4 est une vue en coupe suivant la ligne 4-4 de la figure 3.Figure 4 is a sectional view along line 4-4 of Figure 3.

Figure 5 is a sectional view showing the engagement of a male contact member.

Figures 1 to 5, there is shown a female electrical contact member which is formed from a metal blank good conductor of electricity and which is cut to present a body 1 with, at one end, two tabs 2 intended to be crimped onto a conductor and two tabs 3 intended to be crimped onto the stripped end of said conductor.

On the side opposite the legs 2, the body 1 is extended by a part 5 intended to form a duct of rectangular section.

La partie 5 comprend une partie 6 destinée à former l'âme, deux bandes latérales 7 et 8 destinées, après pliage à angle droit, à former les parois latérales du conduit et une bande 9 adjacente à la bande 8 et destinée à être pliée pour former la paroi de plafond du conduit, cette partie étant fixée par son bord libre au bord libre de la paroi latérale 7.Part 5 comprises a part 6 intended to form the core, two lateral strips 7 and 8 intended, after bending at right angles, to form the lateral walls of the duct and a strip 9 adjacent to the strip 8 and intended to be folded for forming the ceiling wall of the duct, this part being fixed by its free edge to the free edge of the side wall 7.

The side wall 7 is extended by an elastic blade 10 which has, near its free end, two ears 11.

The side wall 8 is extended by an elastic blade 12 provided, in the vicinity of its free end, with two ears 13.

As can be seen in FIG. 2, the elastic blades 10 and 12 are bent towards the inside of the conduit so as to constitute pliers for elastically enclosing a male electrical contact member 15. The ears 11 and 13 are bent, at an angle straight, to constitute stops capable of bearing against the corresponding side walls in order to avoid that the elastic blades can be forced and that thus said blades no longer sufficiently enclose the member 15.

As shown in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, the elastic blade 10 comprises, on its face turned towards the side of the corresponding face of the elastic blade 12, a stamped element determining two pyramids 14 whose vertices are located in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the blade.

The elastic blade 12 also has a stamped on its face turned opposite the blade 10 to form two pyramids 14, the vertices of the latter coinciding with the vertices of the pyramids of the blade 10.

Thus, when the member 15 is inserted between the blades 10 and 12, it is sandwiched between four contact points which promotes good electrical connection, the effort of inserting the member 15 being nevertheless reduced.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has just been described and shown. Many detailed modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the claims. The figures show crimping lugs 2 and 3, but of course, these electrical connection means can be replaced by others.
