Description
- The present invention relates to an apparatus for selectively drawing combed waste by intermittently closing a suction opening used for drawing the waste combed from an endless clearer cloth of a roving frame by an air flow.
- Sliver in a form of yarn supplied to a roving frame is twisted by passing it through several sets of top rollers and bottom rollers, and there is provided a belt-like endless clearer cloth for cleaning generated waste cotton. The waste cotton adhering to the surface of the endless clearer cloth is scraped off by a comb. The comb is intermittently reciprocated along a moving direction of the endless clearer cloth, and positively scrapes off the waste cotton by a blade at its end during the forward motion. This reciprocation is carried out by a comb reciprocating device including a small electric motor and a cam mechanism. In order to prevent dispersion of dust and combed waste, the roving frame includes several sets of endless clearer cloths accommodated in a casing. For automatic processing of the combed waste, there is provided a combed waste suction device which draws and discharges the waste by an air flow through a suction opening formed in the casing. Since the endless clearer cloth is required for each supplied sliver, one set of the casing, the suction opening and a piping extending from the suction opening is provided for each cloth group including few sets of the endless clearer cloths. For this reason, there are provided many sets of pipings, and therefore, the respective pipings are combined by a duct through which the combed waste is introduced to a dust collector.
- All the roving frames installed in a factory uneconomically require an air blower(s) having a considerably large capacity, i.e., a motor(s) having a considerably large capacity for drawing the combed waste, if the suction of the waste is carried out simultaneously in all the roving frames. If the suction is carried out selectively and sequentially for the respective casings, the large motor capacity is not required, and thus this selective suction may be preferred. However, in the prior art, this inevitably requires a complicated and expensive selector device, although the motor capacity can be reduced. Accordingly, it is an object of the invention to provide a combed waste suction device having a simple structure and capable of easy selective suction.
- The present invention provides a combed waste suction apparatus, achieving the above-noted object, including a plurality of combed waste suction devices, each of which has a comb for cleaning an endless clearer cloth of a roving frame, a device for intermittently reciprocating the comb along a moving direction of an endless clearer cloth, and a suction opening for drawing combed waste by an air flow, wherein the combed waste suction device comprises a closed dust collecting tube, which is intermittently reciprocated by the device for reciprocating the comb and is disposed above the endless clearer cloth; the comb being disposed under the dust collecting tube, the dust collecting tube being provided at its lower surface with a combed waste inlet opening located at the vicinity of a blade of the comb; and a shutter disposed at an end of the dust collecting tube, the shutter intimately and slidably contacting the suction opening and being provided with a communication opening located at a position which enables communication between the suction opening and an interior of the dust collecting tube on the way of the intermittent reciprocation of the shutter, so that the communication between the suction opening and the communication opening may be selectively carried out in each combed waste suction device.
- The shutter, which reciprocates together with the intermittently reciprocating comb and has the communication opening enabling the communication between the suction opening and the interior of the dust collecting tube, operates to intermittently open the suction opening, and this intermittent opening is selectively carried out in each combed waste suction device.

- A combed waste suction apparatus of the invention will be described below in detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the figures. Figure 1 is a cross section of a roving frame 1 having a combed
waste suction device 2, Figure 2 is a plan illustrating a major part of the combed waste suction device, and Figure 3 is a cross section taken along line III-III in Figure 2. Figure 4 is a schematic view illustrating connecting structures ofsuction openings 24 of a roving frame 1 having combedwaste suction devices 2 and air pipings, and Figure 5 is a perspective view showing the combedwaste suction device 2 with a combedwaste intake device 18 removed therefrom. - As shown in Figure 1, a
sliver 3 in a thread-like form supplied to the roving frame 1 passes between multiple sets oftop rollers 4 andbottom rollers 5 in acasing 7. The combedwaste suction device 2 is formed of the combedwaste intake device 18, the suction opening 24 and a comb reciprocatingdevice 10. The comb reciprocatingdevice 10 includes a small motor 11, a cam mechanism, arod 13 and acomb reciprocating arm 14. The rotation of the small motor 11 is converted by thecam mechanism 12 and therod 13 for intermittently reciprocating thecomb reciprocating arm 14 in a moving direction of an endlessclearer cloth 6. The combedwaste intake device 18 includes a dust collecting tube and a shutter (both shown in Figure 2).Combs 8 are fixedly disposed under the dust collecting tube. An end of thecomb reciprocating arm 14 is connected to the upper side of the dust collecting tube, so that thecombs 8 are intermittently reciprocated together with the dust collecting tube in the moving direction of the endlessclearer cloths 6 for combing and scraping off waste cotton. - As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the combed
waste intake device 18 is disposed above the endlessclearer cloths 6, and is formed of the closeddust collecting tube 19, theseveral combs 8 and ashutter 21 disposed at one end of thedust collecting tube 19. Eachcomb 8 is held by acomb holder 9 and is located under thedust collecting tube 19. Thedust collecting tube 19 is provided at its lower surface with combeddust intake openings 20 which are located at the vicinity of ends of blades of thecombs 8, so that thecombed waste 26 scraped off by thecombs 8 are taken into thedust collecting tube 19 through the openings. In order to draw and discharge the combed waste taken into thedust collecting tube 19 by an air flow, asuction opening 24 is formed in aside wall 23 of the casing at a side of the endlessclearer cloth 6. Theshutter 21 is fixed to one end of thedust collecting tube 19 near the suction opening 24. Theshutter 21 is guided by aslide guide 25 disposed on theside wall 23, so that it intimately contacts the suction opening 24 and intermittently reciprocates together with thedust collecting tube 19. On the way of the intermittent reciprocation, the suction opening 24 and the interior of thedust collecting tube 19 are communicated together through a communication opening 22 formed in theshutter 21. Thus, only the combedwaste intake inlet 20 and the communication opening 22 are opened on the closeddust collecting tube 19. - As shown in Figure 4, the
shutter 21, which is fixed to thedust collecting tube 19 and intermittently reciprocates, can close the suction opening 24 and can communicate the suction opening 24 to the interior of thedust collecting tube 19 through the communication opening 22. Thus, the suction opening 24 is intermittently opened and closed by theshutter 21. Further, the suction opening 24 is opened and communicated to the communication opening 22 only during a period immediately before the completion of a combed waste scraping step, in which thecombs 8 disposed in thedust collecting tube 19 move forward, and immediately after the start of the rearward movement of thecombs 8. In a period other than the above, the suction opening 24 is closed. The reciprocating position of the communication opening 22, i.e., the reciprocating position of theshutter 21 is determined to open and close the opening 24 in the manner described above. Further, the opening and closing timings of thesuction openings 24 by theshutters 21 of the respective combed waste suction devices are sequentially shifted from each other, so that the draw and discharge of thecombed waste 26 by the air flows are sequentially carried out in the respective combedwaste suction devices 2. - The
combed waste 26 in thedust collecting tube 19 is drawn while the suction opening 24 is open, and is sent through asuction guide 15, anair piping 16 and acollector duct 17 to adust collector 29 by ablower 27 driven by anelectric motor 28. While the suction opening 24 is closed and thus the suction is interrupted, thecombed waste 26 gathers at the vicinity of the combed waste intake opening 20 in thedust collecting tube 19. - Since the drawing of the
combed waste 26 is intermittently carried out and thus is selectively carried out, theblower 27 and thus themotor 28 do not require large capacities. - The comb reciprocating
device 10 is utilized for the selective drawing, and a dedicated device is not employed. - Figure 5 is a perspective view showing a structure in such a manner that the combed
waste intake device 18 and thecomb reciprocating arm 14 near the combedwaste suction device 2 are removed. Only one endlessclearer cloth 6 is shown. - According to the invention, since the shutter which reciprocates together with the comb opens the suction opening only during a period immediately before the completion of the combed waste scraping step and immediately after the start of the rearward movement of the comb, and closes the suction opening during the period other than the above. The opening timings of the respective shutters are sequentially shifted from each other. Thereby, the capacities of the blower and motor can be small, which is economically advantageous.
- Although the present invention has been described and illustrated in detail, it is clearly understood that the same is by way of illustration and example only and is not to be taken by way of limitation, the spirit and scope of the present invention being limited only by the terms of the appended claims.
