Abstract

For producing loose inserts (30) for envelopes, in the regions, in which the inserts (30), corresponding to the positional layout of the envelopes, are to have a distance from one another in production, there are made between neighbouring inserts (30) double cuts in the form of longitudinal cuts (25, 26) and/or in the form of transverse cuts (27, 28, 29) and thus cutoff parts (31) are cut free. The front transverse sections (39) in conveying direction (arrow 20) of the cutoff parts (31) are lifted out of the web (21) at the time of their cutting free and, after subsequent cutting free of the rear end of the cutoff part (31), drawn off. As a result, loose inserts for envelopes can be manufactured multiply lying next to one another and thus positionally accurately with high speed in such a manner that they can be transferred immediately subsequently between the cover layers of the envelopes. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a device which is intended to be suitable for the production of inlays for shipping envelopes or of shipping envelopes which contain such inlays, the inlays of each shipping envelope having one, two or more layers lying one on top of the other, at least two of which optionally loosely one above the other without a folded connection lie.

In order that the inserts can be produced precisely in one pass at high working speed, the device expediently has a transport path for one or more insert webs, for example paper webs, the inserts being made of one or more layers along the transport path the webs are cut out. Separating means, such as cutting devices with cutting knives, are provided for this separation.

If the inserts are separated from the webs only one behind the other, the working speed is limited by the maximum running speed of the webs, the separating means, adhesive application devices, cross-perforating devices or the like, without the possibility of the device being ejected from finished shipping envelopes to increase significantly.

According to US Pat. No. 3,255,679, a device is known in which all the material webs, including those for the insert layers, are first brought together and only then are the insert layers separated. US-A-4 306 475 relates to a punching device for asphalt shingles which, after being separated, are not brought together with a carrier layer.

The invention is also based on the object of avoiding disadvantages of known devices of the type mentioned, in particular to provide a device for producing inserts or shipping envelopes in which a significantly increased output of inserts or shipping envelopes can be achieved in a simple manner.

This object can be achieved by the features of claim 1. Means are expediently provided in order to produce at least some of the inserts or shipping envelopes laterally offset from one another or laterally adjacent to one another. If at least one or all of the layers of the inserts produced laterally adjacent and / or the cover layers of the shipping envelope are produced from the same Bahn, so there is a two-, three- or multi-use production, which leads to a multiple output at the same running speed.

The training according to the invention is particular intended for such shipping envelopes, namely so-called mailer forms, in which at least one lateral edge of the insert, approximately in the longitudinal direction of the associated web, is set back relative to the associated edge of the shipping envelope or its cover layers or is not directly attached to these cover layers. Such inserts are particularly easy to remove from the shipping envelope and can be inserted completely loosely between the cover layers of the shipping envelope connected to one another at the edge, so that they are set back against all outer edges or adhesive connections of the cover layers of the shipping envelope. In the case of multi-use production, the difficulty arises here that the cover layers and the inserts laterally adjacent in the production of shipping envelopes cannot be trimmed together on their mutually facing sides.

In order to achieve a lateral distance between at least two layers of inserts made laterally adjacent to one another, spacing means are provided, by means of which these layers or inserts receive the required distance before the interposition between the cover layers of the shipping envelope. Although it is conceivable to separate the laterally adjacent layers of the inserts from one another by means of a single separating or longitudinal section and then to move them apart to the mentioned lateral distance, this requires a relatively large outlay and possibly an increased load on the webs.

Therefore, according to the invention further proposed to form the spacing means in that the separating means produce a lateral spacing cut, namely to separate a separating part from the respective web between the adjacent layers. In terms of shape and width, this corresponds exactly to the distance these layers occupy in the production of laterally adjacent shipping envelopes, namely when the laterally adjacent inserts are placed between the cover layers of shipping envelopes produced laterally adjacent. The cover layers of the shipping sleeves produced next to one another and thus these themselves can then be separated from one another by a single separating cut.

If at least individual layers of the inlays produced one behind the other are to be set back on at least one edge in the longitudinal direction of the webs in relation to the outer edges or adhesive connections of the associated shipping envelopes, they must have a corresponding longitudinal distance from one another by means of suitable spacers when inserting between the cover layers; these longitudinal spacing means can be provided instead of or in addition to the above-described transverse spacing means or for two- or multi-use production. The longitudinal spacing means can be formed by a suitable acceleration path, in which the respective front position in the transport direction is accelerated after its transverse separation from the web in such a way that the required distance is achieved. However, it is particularly advantageous if the transverse spacing means are formed by means with which a separating part is separated out between the successive layers whose width and shape corresponds in the manner described to the distance between successive inserts before separation of the shipping casings produced one behind the other.

The distance means mentioned can also be designed so that the separated part is smaller in width and shape than the distance mentioned, so that adjacent inserts do not have to be moved apart by the complete distance dimension to achieve the required distance position, but only by a part thereof. It is particularly advantageous if the separating means are designed such that they each separate at least one transverse separating part and at least one longitudinal separating part in one piece, so that this connected separating part then e.g. can be easily moved as waste out of the web and removed. This separating part is expediently removed from the material web on an arc web that increases increasingly in the running direction of the material web and tangentially adjoins the material web; this results in a very safe and trouble-free detachment of the separating part.

The separating means are expediently designed in such a way that cuts lying transversely to one another, which then delimit transversely lying outer edges of the separating part, intersect by a small amount with their mutually facing ends, so that the respective cut is slightly into the section of the separating part lying transversely to it reaches in. This ensures that the separating part is completely cut free.

In a preferred embodiment, the pairwise longitudinal cuts are first made between adjacent inserts, each pair of longitudinal cuts being a longitudinal distance of, for example, 9 to 10 mm from the subsequent pair, which is slightly smaller than the required distance between successively made inserts; this distance can be e.g. 10 to 20 mm. Immediately after making the longitudinal cuts or longitudinal perforations with longitudinal cutters, which may have interruptions in cut, pairs of cross-sections are expediently produced in immediate succession using a rotating cutting tool which has one or more pairs of transverse cutting knives distributed over its circumference. In order to secure parts of the respective web which are to be separated from one another after the respective cut, in particular the longitudinal cut, at least on a subsequent part of the further travel path, this cut can first be carried out with at least one interruption spaced from its predetermined ends . The respective interruption then forms, in the manner of a perforation, a predetermined separation connection between the parts mentioned and can be severed by tearing or cutting at any desired point on the further transport route, in particular when the separation part is removed.

The cutting knife of the respective pair, which first comes into engagement due to the rotary movement, leads essentially continuously over two or more laterally adjacent inserts continuous cross section, while the subsequent cutting knife executes a cross section which is interrupted between the longitudinal cuts of at least one pair of longitudinal cuts. As a result, the separating part is completely cut free of the web except for its rear end in the running direction. In the subsequent cross section, this end is also cut free and cut off. Advantageously, the separating part is moved out of the web with its front end before the complete separation of its rear end in the manner described, for example upwards, so that it is practically completely moved out of the web at the moment when its rear end is separated. For example, adhesive, such as suction openings, can be provided between the individual knives of each pair of cross-cutting knives, with which the front end of the separating part in the direction of travel is fixed relative to the cross-cutting tool at the time the cross-section is carried out, so that the separating part is practically only by tensile load from the web is moved out. On a section of the movement path of the cross-cutting knives lying outside the cutting zone, the separating part is transferred to a discharge which can be formed, for example, by a suction channel.

For precise alignment and guidance of at least one insert web are provided for these guiding means, which expediently engage in a substantially form-fitting manner in at least one longitudinal edge of the web. For example, the web can have a perforated edge on the longitudinal edge, such as a so-called Remaliner perforated edge with holes one behind the other for the engagement of guide and / or transport pins exhibit. Means are advantageously provided in order to separate this hole edge before carrying out the respective cross section and / or before carrying out the respective longitudinal section and to lead it away from the associated path. Devices of the type described expediently form the drive side in the region of a longitudinal side, on which the drives or drive connections for the driven machine parts, such as knives, conveyors or the like, are provided; the opposite long side forms the operating side, which is essentially free of such drive connections. The hole edge of the web is advantageously separated at least on the drive side or on both longitudinal sides only immediately in front of the cross-cutting device, in particular between the latter and the guide device, so that the web can be guided directly to the cross-cutting device. The edge of the hole belonging to the operating side can also already be cut off at a point further back, for example immediately before or after the longitudinal cutting device or in front of the front end of the guiding device following this.

The generation of the distance between adjacent inserts by the fact that a separating part is separated between them also has the essential advantage that direct connections between superimposed insert sheets can be provided at least partially or exclusively in the areas which are separated out as separating parts. Such connections serve to secure the position of the webs in particular during the cuts and are therefore used, for example, as crimp connections Execution of the cuts made. According to the invention, in particular in the case of a device of the type described, means are provided for mutually securing the position of webs lying one on top of the other, these means essentially only attacking the webs in those areas which lie outside the insert layers to be removed and between their longitudinal edges.

The device according to the invention is expediently connected directly to a device in which the inserts are placed on a lower material web and covered with an upper material web, these two material webs forming the cover layers of the shipping envelopes. The finished shipping envelopes are then separated from these material webs with interleaved inserts in the number of blanks corresponding to the number of blanks in the production of the inserts. The distance between the inserts of adjacent shipping envelopes and thus the distance of each insert from the outer edges of the associated shipping envelope is secured from cutting the respective insert to its inclusion in the cover layers of the shipping envelope, without the insert layers or the cover layers having a lateral transverse movement have to perform.

The invention also relates to the method described, the finished shipping envelopes described and, as a semi-finished product, the single-layer or multi-layer material web in the state in which it is made by making the respective cuts or the web connections.

These and further features of preferred developments of the invention are evident from the description and the drawings, the individual features being realized individually or in groups in the form of sub-combinations in one embodiment of the invention and in other fields, and being advantageous and protectable per se Can represent versions for which protection is claimed here. An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings and is explained in more detail below. The drawings show:

According to FIGS. 1 to 3, with a device 1 according to the invention, at least one, two or more insert webs 3, 4 of stores 5, 6, for example of paper rolls, are fed approximately horizontally via deflections, the inserts being produced from the webs 3, 4 will. At the exit of the device 1, the inserts cut free over the entire circumference of the edge are then placed on a carrier web 7 drawn off from a further store 9 and immediately thereafter with a cover web pulled off from a store 10 8 covered. The two-ply web with intermediate inserts is then fed to a device 2 for completing the mailing envelopes, in which the mailing envelopes are separated from the webs 7, 8, so that individual mailing envelopes are produced in the manner of filled envelopes. Instead of completely cutting off the shipping envelopes, separating perforations can also be provided between adjacent and / or consecutive shipping envelopes, so that they can be further processed as a single-use or multiple-use, zigzag folded tape, for example addressed and only then separated completely.

The carrier web 7 is guided around the or below the webs 3, 4 below the transport path 11 of the device 1, while the cover web 8 is fed directly to the transport path 3 from above.

In the area of the essentially horizontal transport path 11 of the device 1, a separating device 12 consisting of several successive units is provided, which has a longitudinal separating device 13 and, following this, a transverse separating device 14. Immediately in front of the longitudinal separating device 13, a crimping device is provided for the essentially form-fitting direct connection of the two tracks 3, 4. Before and / or after the longitudinal separating device 13, a guide device 16 is provided for the respective congruent longitudinal edges of the webs 3, 4 of the same width. These longitudinal edges are immediately in front of the cross cutting device 14 or immediately after the longitudinal cutting device 13 with separating device 17, 18 separated and discharged. Immediately after the separating device 12 or the transverse separating device 14, a conveying device 19 is provided for the cut-out inserts, which are spaced apart on all sides, which delivers the inserts in the conveying direction arrow 20 directly onto the carrier web 7.

In Fig. 1 the single-layer or consisting of two or more webs 3, 4 total web 21 is shown, the longitudinal edge 22 of which is on the drive side and the opposite longitudinal edge 23 of which is on the operating side of the device. Both longitudinal edges 22, 23 are each provided with a longitudinal perforation 24 into which the associated guide device 16, e.g. a pen tape, engages. The entire web 21 is moved at a uniform speed in the conveying direction arrow 20 approximately horizontally or in its longitudinal direction by the device 1, longitudinal cuts 25 and cross sections 27, 28, 29 being made using rotating tools during this pass. As a result, two or more inserts 30 lying next to one another with a small spacing are simultaneously produced simultaneously and inserts 30 lying one behind the other at a short distance immediately in succession. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the inserts 30 are limited to be rectangular or approximately square, but they can also have an irregular shape or edges.

To produce the lateral and the longitudinal spacing, there is between laterally adjacent inserts 30 and then in The direction of conveyance arrow 20 cut out a one-piece separating part 31, which then has a transverse section 33 to be detached from the front edges of at least two inserts 30 lying next to one another and at least one longitudinal section 32 adjoining its rear edge. This longitudinal section 32, which is cut free in front of the cross section 33, is still connected in one piece to the entire web 21 with the rear end after the cross section 33 has been cut free and is cut off with the subsequent cross section 27 for the next following inserts 30, at the moment this separation is already essentially completely lifted out of the total web 21. The individual layers of the respective separating part 31 are connected to one another by crimping 34, which are distributed substantially uniformly over the width of the entire web 21 and are provided exclusively in the area of the respective transverse section 33. Immediately in front of the cross cutting device 14, the longitudinal edge 22 is cut off with a cut 35. The other longitudinal edge 23 can also be separated with a separating cut 36 in this area or in front of it, but expediently after the crimping 34 or the longitudinal cuts 25, 26 have been produced.

The width of the respective longitudinal section 32 or the lateral distance between adjacent inserts 30 is determined in that the longitudinal separating device 13 has two adjacent longitudinal knives 39, 40 for each longitudinal section 37, each performing a rotating cutting movement, working with circumferential cutting, with an opposite one , also cooperate rotating counter knife and have at least one break in their cutting edge. As a result, each cutting knife 39 or 40 produces longitudinal cuts 25, 26 of predetermined length, which are adjacent to one another at a predetermined distance 37 and one behind the other at a predetermined 38, and are slightly longer than the associated side edges of the inserts 30. Immediately after the longitudinal cutting device 13, the entire web 21 is still guided by at least one guide device 16 to the associated cutting device 17 or 18 and then runs directly into the cross cutting device 14.

The cross cutting device 14 has a cutting roller 44 which rotates essentially axially parallel to the longitudinal knives 39, 40 and is provided on the circumference with one or more, for example three pairs of cross knives 41, 42, 43. Of the transverse knives of each pair, which run like the longitudinal knives 40 in accordance with the conveying speed of the entire web 21, the front transverse knife 41 in the direction of rotation of the cutting roller 44 first comes into engagement with the web 21 and separates the rear end of the preceding separating part 31 in that described Way, at the same time cutting free the rear edges of the leading inserts 30. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the transverse knife 41 passes over the total width of the web 21 which it has in the region of the transverse separating device 14. The transverse knife 41 could also consist of individual individual knives lying next to one another, so that, for example, the individual knife that the rear end of the separating part 31 cuts free, compared to those individual knives that cut free the rear edges of the inserts 30, with respect to the conveying direction arrow 20, could be slightly offset or could be designed differently.

Immediately following the transverse knife 41, the two transverse knives 42, 43 come into engagement with the web 21 and cut free the front edges of the subsequent inserts 30 and the transverse section 33. These transverse knives 42, 43, whose opposite ends also extend over the corresponding total width of the web 21 and are aligned with one another, have an intermediate distance from one another which is slightly smaller than the distance 37 between the longitudinal knives 39, 40; this distance can be approximately 15 to 30 mm. The distance between the transverse knife 41 on the one hand and the transverse knives 42, 43 on the other hand is slightly larger than the longitudinal extent 38 of the interruptions in the cutting of the longitudinal knives 39, 40. As a result, the rear ends of the longitudinal cuts 25, 26 cut the front cross section 27, while their front ends each intersect the associated cross section 28 and 29, respectively. The cutting roller 44 works together with a rotating counter roller 45. The separating devices 17, 18 and the crimping device 15 also have rotating tools.

A removal device 46, which is only partially indicated, is provided to remove the respective separating part 31 which passes over the associated total width of the web 21. This points in the gap between adjacent transverse knives 41, 42, 43 in a system or. Circumferential surface of the cutting roller 44 on suction openings 48, which in are distributed substantially uniformly over the surface of the transverse section 33, but are not provided in the region of the longitudinal section 32. The suction openings 48 are in line connection with a suction channel 47 located in the cutting roller 44, which is connected in a manner not shown to a suction device. The connection of the suction openings 48 to the suction source is controlled, for example via a rotary slide valve, in such a way that suction is carried out via the suction openings 48 when the associated cross sections are carried out. After the cutting roller 44 has rotated about half a revolution further, or after the following pair of cross sections has been carried out, the connection between the suction openings 48 and the suction source is interrupted, so that the separating part 31 sucked in the region of its cross section 33 is released. This separating part can then be sucked off from the cutting roller 44 with a suction device (not shown); the suction device has, for example, a suction bell connected to a conveying channel, which tightly surrounds the cutting roller 44 on an upper peripheral section facing away from the web 21, but without contact. The rotary slide valve mentioned can lie in the axis of rotation of the cutting roller 44 and can be controlled in direct dependence on its rotary movement.

The conveyor device 19 directly adjoins the cutting gap of the cross-cutting device 14 with two conveyor belts 49, 50 lying opposite one another, between the mutually facing strands of which the cut-out inserts 30 are placed on the carrier web 7 with little pressure and while maintaining their mutual distances and conveyed further into the device 2. The entire transport route 11 lies at least in one plane from the working area of the cross-cutting device 14 to the area of the device 2. The size and shape of the inserts 30 can be changed in a simple manner by replacing at least the cutting roller 44 of the cross cutting device 14.
